Chapter 509 - Shut Up or Get Out

Yao Tang lowered her head ever so slightly, her face betraying none of her emotions. She took out another needle and resumed her treatment as though nothing was amiss.

Xu Xuan frowned atXu Hong. “How can you speak that way, Auntie? She is not a fraud or a liar, she is a skilled doctor who was kind enough to offer us her help.”

“Hey, Ma’am, do you have any idea what acupuncture is or how it works? I bet you don’t even understand a thing, so please stop kicking up a fuss!”

This time, it was Qin Jingwho spoke.

Enraged, Xu Hongstrode up to her, her hand poised to slap the insolent girl.

“So, you’re saying that I am wrong? Let me ask you then, how old is this scammer this year, huh? Where did she learn traditional Chinese medicine? And who are you calling ‘Ma’am’? You lot really have no manners!”

“What, were you expecting me to call you ‘Sister’?” Qin Jingretorted. She leaned against the door frame and smirked atXu Hong.

The woman almost exploded there and then.

She wanted so badly to retaliate, but the more she looked at Qin Jing, the more she felt that the girl wasn’t someone to be trifled with.

And so, she directed her wrath at Xu Xuaninstead. “Xu Xuan! Were you the one who brought these ill-mannered people into the house?”

“Yes, I—” Xu Xuanstarted to say, only to be interrupted by a slap to her face. Her cheeks immediately turned red and puffy.

But Xu Hongwasn’t done yet. She grabbedXu Xuanby the collar of her shirt and proceeded to castigate her.

“You ungrateful wretch! You knew that my mother is sick, but instead of bringing her to the hospital, you hired this quack to stick some needles into her old and frail body? Aren’t you scared at all that something might happen to your grandmother?

“If it wasn’t for her, you wouldn’t even be alive today! How can you be so reckless with her life? You vile, evil creature!”

Grandma Xu couldn’t bear the sight ofXu Xuangetting beaten up. She scrambled into a sitting position and pointed a trembling finger atXu Hong.

“You…” She was so furious that she could barely get her words out.

“Stop!” the old woman finally managed to spit out.

When Xu Hongrealized that her mother was still trying to defendXu Xuan, the anger in her heart grew more fierce.

“Mom, take a look at this good granddaughter of yours. Didn’t you call her sensible a while ago? You’re already in such a deplorable state, yet she’s still fooling around with scammers! I can’t let you stay here any longer. It’s a good thing that I came here today. Otherwise, you might end up dead before you know it.”

With that, Xu Hong tried to shove Xu Xuan aside, but the girl stood fast and didn’t budge. If the woman got past her, she would only interfere with Yao Tang’s treatment.

“Get out of my way!” Xu Hongscreeched. “If you don’t step aside right now, don’t blame me for what I might do to you.”

Grandma Xu was so overwhelmed with emotions at this point that she almost fainted. Her Qi was disrupted, and her blood wasn’t flowing smoothly. “Get out!” she rasped.

Xu Hong heard it and turned toXu Xuanwith a smug sneer. “See? My mother wants you to get out of here. Now, go! Get out of my sight!”

Grandma Xu shook her head slowly even as she panted. She opened her mouth to say something more, but she had no strength left.

And then something incredible happened.

Nobody saw it clearly, but Xu Hongnoticed a faint blur sweeping in front of her.

The next thing she knew, the crisp sound of skin hitting skin rang out, and she felt her face burning.

As for the blur in question, Yao Tangwas already back on Grandma’s side before the rest of them could blink.

She gently rubbed her palm and didn’t even glance at Xu Hong.

Clenching her fists, Xu Hongwas about to unleash another barrage of curses when an ominous voice thundered, “Shut up or get out!”

Then, as if she hadn’t just terrorized a grown woman into silence, Yao Tangpressed an acupuncture point onGrandma Xu’s head and said gently, “Calm down and don’t get agitated.”

She stuck another needle at the spot she had just pressed.

The old woman immediately felt better, and her breathing slowed before finally stabilizing.
