Naturally, the survivors didn't like the idea of getting any closer to the ice goblins, so the first group had to leave with Luke, Rachel, and Richter to feel safe enough. They had some long-ranged weapons, so they tried to be useful… still, their aim was quite… disappointing. As expected, only protecting them was no good. That being said, those people began to level up pretty fast and then they began to affect the battles more. It was barely noticeable, but they were getting more experience by making themselves more useful.

The first group reached level thirty in the blink of an eye, so they returned and informed the others about how awesome they were feeling. Naturally, they already had enough coins to buy the skill book and potions.

"I wonder if we will find enough enemies to accomplish this goal today," Luke said.

"Every morning, Richter finds at least one hundred goblins, the same amount can be found in the afternoon," Rachel explained.

They needed exactly one hundred to make five people to reach level thirty… as expected, they had to split up and make things more efficient. However, if something happens, Richter could only take six people with him back to the Library by using Checkpoint. They might increase the movements of the ice goblins, but it will be a problem if the big boss shows up. In any case, it seemed that Luke had to be patient.

Luke asked if it wasn't possible to make the survivors leave the city by using Checkpoint, but then Rachel explained that the skill uses a lot more mana according to the level of the people and the distance and if was obvious that Richter was a warrior that focused in strenght and speed. They couldn't escape using that skill alone, they also tried to take the survivors one by one, but that didn't work… The goblins found the footsteps and warned their friends to watch the exits of the city.

"I guess this will take some time…" Luke thought.

Hopefully, it will end in success and Luke will defeat the castle and gain tons of experience and gold coins. Otherwise, that whole thing would become a true waste of time. In the end, it took three days to make fifty people reach the necessary requirements for the mission…

"Explain to me how this isn't a waste of time, Rina," Shalia said.

"If they succeed, they will get rid of one of the enemies trying to invade Earth, they will get good rewards and obtain powerful allies…" Rina explained. "I see nothing but merits in helping them."

"Yes, and Luke only had to waste almost a week to get all that," Shalia said. "Your math is truly brilliant."

Putting Shalia's sarcasm aside, it was really amazing that Rina could think that wasting an entire week for strangers was a worthy investment. Even after some of them asked for help but hid important information. In any case, it was time to move.

Little by little, the group left the library with their weapons in hand and Luke opened a path by using Flamethrower. He knew that it would be impossible to hide that many people from the goblins, so he might as well at least improve the environment in order to prevent mistakes. The snow was thick and was as hard as ice, but melting it was something easy for Luke that had that level of magic.

As if the enemies were laughing at their efforts, they only showed up when Luke's group approached one of the bridges that led to one of the exits of the city. Their leader was nowhere to be seen, it seemed that their constant level-ups gave them some confidence… against enemies with that level of intelligence, Luke didn't have to do much.

Twenty or so survivors stepped forward while being led by Rachel and then they pointed their hands toward the goblins, which made the enemies raise their guard and so they also charged to attack before anything happened. That actually worked against them. A long and continuous wave of Electric Arrows flew toward them and paralyzed the first line of enemies. The number of goblins was close to five hundred, so they had to fire their projectiles for a while before they could truly stop their charge. Once half of them were hit, the other half was unable to proceed since their wounded allies were blocking their path. Once that happened, sixty other survivors charged toward the enemies to finish them off. Some of the goblins recovered faster than others and caused some problems to the frontline, some of the survivors flinched when they saw the massive hammers being swung at them, but they recovered their fighting spirit when the backline moved to the sides after drinking some mana potions and then began to attack again. The plan was working better than Luke had envisioned, so the goblins began to fall relatively fast.

Luke could increase the speed of their elimination, but he decided to keep his guard up and wait for the arrival of the big boss. Richter also looked rather annoyed since he couldn't afford to help his friends… he didn't like Luke's plan, but he didn't have a better idea, so he had to follow thoroughly, even when he saw some of the survivors falling.

"This plan of yours… if it doesn't work…" Richter said while clenching his fists.

"I also share that wish… it would be troublesome if that doesn't happen, time isn't something I can afford to lose," Luke said.

As if someone had heard Luke's words, the entire area began to tremble… No, it was just Luke's imagination. His senses were what made the area look like it was trembling because the owner of one hell of a bloodlust was approaching from above. The onwer of the castle was coming and he didn't seem that happy....
