Luke had skipped another night and didn't use the shop. The reason for that was that he wanted a truly powerful skill that would increase his chances against creatures like the Goblin champion. However, he soon realized that he had made a mistake… currently, he had 34 thousand gold coins, and with 32 thousand, he could buy a tier six skill book, to buy the next level, he would need 64 thousand… he couldn't hope to get so many gold coins in a single day.

"I should have checked the tier six list thoroughly…" Luke thought while they were heading toward the southern side of the city.

They were moving in a pretty big group, and since there were some soldiers among them, some survivors that stayed hidden in the last few days decided to show up and join them. Even though they left twenty soldiers to guard the airplane, now they were heading toward the horde with ninety survivors.

"Luke, we should start with you using the grenades. That will help boost morale," Billy said.

"Are grenades effective in Luke's hands?" Mark asked.

"Hahaha, you will see…" Billy smirked.

Each soldier had five grenades to use in some dangerous situations, and while they had an extra stock in the airplane, they decided only to give two grenades each for Luke, so now he was carrying fifty of those… it would be enough to cause quite the scene.

They found some goblins fiercely fighting the zombies when they reached the area. Since they didn't have ranged attacks and a leader, the fight was quite… unsightly. They were pretty dumb, so they could only charge without thinking too much. Still, thanks to their numbers, it would take a while for them to die, and most likely, they would take all the zombies in the area with them…

"I see… it is a strategy to create another goblin champion," Rina said. "The survivors of this battle will receive tons of experience points, and that will recreate their leader."

"Is that really possible?" Luke asked. "I thought the goblin champion was just a rare breed of the goblins that was strong from birth."

"Just like zombies can mutate, goblins can also evolve. They don't start on that side and carry shields and spears…" Rina said. "They start small, and then when they evolve, they can become warriors, archers, and even spellcasters. When a warrior evolves even further, they can become goblin champions."

Luke wondered if humans could evolve like that as well… but they would evolve to what? Homo sapiens sapiens sapiens? A species of man that will recognize the greatness of the resident evil live-action movies that almost made Luke cry so many times out of despair? Putting jokes aside, if a human were to evolve, it might cause some issues, like making them feel like they are above the others… If Luke were given that chance, he wondered if he would feel different or alien.

Regardless, Luke didn't want to waste time, so he began to throw the grenades indiscriminately toward the goblins. Now that he thought about it, they were supposed to have a lot more coins after fighting the zombies for a while… so, perhaps the possibility of getting a tier seven skill book that day wasn't out of the question…

You obtained 360 experience points.

You obtained 360 gold coins.

You obtained 360 experience points.

You obtained 360 gold coins.

In the end, Luke ended up gaining a lot more than normal, but not as much as he had expected by making the most powerful goblins explode… the fact that the goblin champion also didn't give him the same amount of gold as inexperience was starting to bother him as well… Nevertheless, just using the grenades alone, Luke decimated the remaining goblins with explosions that created craters left and right and made the ground tremble. He also gained fifteen thousand gold coins and leveled up three times more.

"Hey… aren't those a lot stronger than before?" Billy said, visibly shocked.

"I wonder why…" Luke shrugged.

There was no way that Luke would tell that the power of Weapon Augmentation was based on his base strength. That secret was too important, after all. Still, his smudginess disappeared when Rina told him that not a single skill book was dropped… he also didn't gain a quest to clear that horde of zombies.

In the end, Billy regretted his choice a little bit, he wanted to make the other survivors feel safe. At the same time, they hunt by knowing that Luke, who was just a normal kid, could do that much, but in the end, he ended up monopolizing all the experience of the goblins.

"Sorry, Luke, but you will have to step down now and assume a support role," Billy said. "If you get all the experience, the survivors won't even reach level ten."

It was unavoidable, but Luke only nodded and stepped back. He only helped when he saw someone being overwhelmed by the zombies. When that happened, he used Sonic Blade. While he didn't have many chances to use it, the fact that he was in the backline gave Luke the chance to improve his aim. With that skill, perhaps he no longer would need a bow and could let Rina and Shalia absorb more mana. Using water cannon and Spark Ball was another matter since their combination was sick, and they could level up… but then Luke realized that Archery also could level up...
