"Dammit! Why! Why can't we go?"

Voices coming from everywhere immediately became quiet. People then turned to a man who blurted something out and another man who was drinking with him became embarrassed and frantically replied.

"Gosh, come on! You know why yourself!"

The man, Doren, spoke to his friend Boyd and Boyd shook his head with the beer running down on his tubby mustache.

"I know! I know! But it's still frustrating. You know this deal is worth a fortune! WHY NOW? Dammit!"

Boyd blurted out again and took a big gulp of beer.

"Why NOW!"

"It's all fine now. Why are we being blocked anyway?"

"What if the Gate disappears?"

"Shit, don't even say something like that. It's getting bigger. I'm sure it won't disappear anytime soon."

"Who knows?"

Other merchants on the other tables started ranting about the ongoing situation.

"Well, I'm sure the government knows what they're doing. What if you can't come back after you go over?"

"Yeah, I suppose so. I wouldn't want that."

The atmosphere began to fall down. The merchants were all disappointed by ongoing situation, but there was nothing they could do. It was wiser to follow the laws to keep themselves safe from the unstable Gate.

"But there's still someone going over and back!"

Of course, the Gate did seem to be working well for the time being, but only officials from the Empire were allowed in. They were doing their best to handle the situation.

Merchants sat down in the pub and drank away their time, and it was the middle of these times when the alarm went off.

[Effective immediately, all merchants are allowed to use the Gate! You must follow the…]

"YAY!"

"FINALLY!"

"It's on! Let's go!"

Merchants shouted gladly and began to rise up from their seats. They immediately began to leave the pub and employees of the pub smiled as they were also glad that their customers were not going to be in a gloomy mood anymore.

"Oh, there goes our tip."

"They'll be back soon."

"Yeah."

Then...

"Huh? Is that an emergency siren?"

That's when emergency siren went off. And they heard a screaming coming from outside.

"UGH! What is that?!"

"AAARGH!"

"G-gate! It's the GATE!"

[EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY!!]

Everyone came out of the building and saw what was going on.

"W… what? Is that the Gate?"

"Y-yeah… but two?"

There was another Gate that opened not too far from the usual Gate that the people were accustomed to. But it was a bit smaller and had greyish color to it.

"What is… s-something's coming out!"

"Fall back! Move back to the defensive wall!"

Grey living beings began to come over the Gate in increasing numbers.

"What is that?"

Lieutenant General Lee Chulmin became frustrated. He was now Lieutenant General of the Gate Defense of the Khalodian Empire. He was one of the most successful individuals amongst those from Earth.

The greyish being was very tall at about 8 feet high, but it looked grotesque. It had rough and wrinkled skin that was covered with some kind of ooze.

'These are enemies…!'

They weren't doing much as they moved over the Gate, but there was a sense of hostility. It was easy to sense by those who were sensitive like the Ainos and other humans who had evolved after moving over the Gate.

That's when a large head came over the gate.

"Ugh! What is that?!"

The head itself was over 9 feet long. With the head screeching, the otherworldly living beings began to advance. They were armed with never-before-seen weapons. But it was the way they were holding that proved it to be weapons.

General Lee Chulmin moaned. He had to make a decision.

'We have to attack.'

The number of living beings coming over the Gate didn't seem like they were coming in peace.

"Fire at will!"
