Chapter 172 - I am pretty sure what you saw was a human. Did it look like Young Master? (3)

The maids paused, and then all of them shook their heads.

A chubby girl among them said bravely, “Young master never leaves his room, especially in the middle of the night. He also never visits the garden or the swimming pool. I have always been in charge of cleaning those areas and had never once seen the young master.”

Once she had said that, all the other maids were more willing to share.

An older maid nodded as well. “Everybody knows that Young Master only hangs out around the mansion area.

“Plus, Young Master has a very set schedule and would turn in around 8 PM. He does not allow anyone to walk around the mansion area after that, including the gardens. We normally return to our room by 10 PM. I wouldn’t have gotten up the other day had I not have to use the bathroom.”

The maids that worked the back garden needed to walk all the way over to the employee area to use the bathroom.

“Exactly. That and the young master drinks a set amount of alcohol every day, but the wine consumption the last few days was three times the young master’s normal amount!”

Gu Shishi blinked as she listened to all the maids’ speculation.

She didn’t have any solid evidence, but it was necessary to calm the nerves of the workers. It was almost the Mid-Autumn Festival.

“It was either him or Siyi. There’s no need to get afraid.”Gu Shishi tried to comfort the maids. “Okay, let me go ask.”

***

Siyi was even more assertive than the maids.

“The boss will not leave the study and the bedroom. At most he’d go to the dining room to eat. Drinking outside? No, he won’t. He’d think it’s too dirty.” He paused for a bit, then went on to explain. “There are these things called dust in the air. He would never eat or drink outdoors.”

Gu Shishi’s eyes widened. Was that really a ghost?

But that still didn’t make sense. Then how do you explain the increase in his fondness every time she swam?

Gu Shishi felt that she was about to lose her mind.

She thought about the rumor of a ghost among the maids. After considering, she decided to tell Siyi just in case it was something breaking into the house.

After Siyi heard about it, he was stunned speechless.

Miss Gu suspected that the boss was peeping…. No, appreciating, her swimming every day?

As they were chatting, Huo Sishen walked down briskly from the second floor with a solemn look and his suit jacket on properly.

Siyi turned around with some difficulties and gave Gu Shishi a look, seeking for her help.

Gu Shishi gulped and forced herself to take a couple of steps forward.

“Ugh, good morning, Mr. Huo…”

Her hands kept on twisting the hem of her skirt.

How would she approach this? Excuse me, have you been peeping at me every night?

“You can’t even express yourself so early in the morning?”Huo Sishen looked up with his black eyes and tidied up his sleeves. “What have you done this time?”

Gu Shishi paused for a second then suddenly had an idea. She bit down on her lips.

“I went swimming last night, and it seemed my hair tie had fallen off. I went looking for it this morning and wasn’t able to find it. It was a sparkling one that’s very shiny even at night…”

Huo Sishen’s eyes narrowed, and he rotated his watch.

“You didn’t have it in; your hair was down…” Halfway through saying that, he looked shocked.

Gu Shishi looked down abruptly. She was screeching like a groundhog inside.

He was watching her at night! How else would he know that her hair wasn’t tied up??

Huo Sishen, too, seemed to have noticed that he had slipped. He looked away awkwardly.

“You always have your hair down…”

When he turned his head and saw Siyi, standing to one side, stunned like a fool, he frowned.

“Why are you still standing there? Didn’t you hear what she said? Go send someone to look around the swimming pool already!”

Siyi, “…???”

Didn’t you just say there was no hair tie?

Did his boss really think he was that stupid? Or that he couldn’t comprehend human language?

“Yes, Sir.”

But, of course, he would still have to do as he was told.
