Chapter 36 – Part 2

Pretending that I didn’t know about it, I let out a business smile and headed for grandfather’s office. It was still warm here after a long time, making me feel all warm as I saw the people’s bright smiles and the children who comforted me while they gave me flowers.

As I have said earlier, there were some people who looked at me unfavorably, although there were also many people who loved me. For being a saint, and grateful to them for just showing up here–I couldn’t help but feel warm in my heart as I looked at them.

I met Yullita and had a short chat while I was on my way to meet my grandfather.

Yullita patted me on my shoulder with great pity. She personally led me to grandfather’s office as she gave me words of consolation, and Lisandro and Verdo sat outside as I sat alone with my grandfather.

There was concern on his face.

“Baby saint, your face has lost a lot of weight.”

“…I’m all grown up now! I’m not a baby saint.”

“Yes, baby saint. I don’t know if you’re all right now.”

Grandpa’s words still don’t make sense. Even so, he was one of the few people I trusted. Tino also said that he was a trustworthy person. Even if I didn’t need to act in front of my grandfather, he spent every day worrying about me.

“I’m okay. When did you see me discouraged by that? By the way.”

Grandfather smiled awkwardly and avoided my gaze as I crossed my arms and glared at him. I raised my finger and pointed at his face here and there.

“Here, here! Here, too!”

“Hoho.”

“You’ve got more wrinkles. I told you to stop doing work and leave it to the high priests.”

I wanted him to leave it to them and rest, but he didn’t listen to me because he had always loved to help the people, so I told him to at least share his burdens with the high priests.

“It’s piled up here again!”

I raised my eyebrows at the pile of papers on his desk.

“Still, I often take a break these days. Didn’t my complexion improve a lot?”

“No. Have you not forgotten who guided me here?”

Yullita was the high priest who worried about grandfather the most. Everyone was worried, but Yullita was overprotective. That was because grandfather was the one who brought back her from the slums where she lived and was only waiting for the day of her death.

That profound favor was unfathomable to me. Moreover, he didn’t bring her back for her abilities. Receiving that favor, she regarded grandfather as her own father.

It was said that Yullita’s abilities came to light at the age of fourteen, all thanks to her unwavering belief and faith. And, her faith deepened even more as she prayed and learned doctrine after grandfather.

With a high purity ability while learning a lot, Yullita was one of the elites who was promoted at lightning speed. In a way, it was only natural that she could tell me about grandfather’s condition, so I could recover his health with my abilities.

My grandfather shook his head when I reached out my hand.

“It’s okay. With that amount of power…”

“Grandpa, I always told you.”

I hardened my face and gazed straight into his eyes before continuing, “I want to be a selfish person who keeps my people by my side rather than a hero who saves more people.”

Grandpa added a laugh at my words.

“And, I also told you that I would rather give up everything than become a sacrificial saint.”

“Grandfather always told me to do it. Please, give me your hand.”

Grandfather hesitantly held out his hand. I closed my eyes and let my holy powers flow as I held his wrinkled hands. I could feel the calm, holy power flowing through my grandfather’s hand.

For a while, I gave him a healing glow and opened my eyes.

“…Hmm, I guess you’re going somewhere.”

Normally, they wouldn’t put much importance on it. Because I was not far from them, and I knew that his holy power was little now, all thanks to Tino. However, unlike usual, I gave more of my holy power into his body today. It was right to say that I handed him over for him to use it any time.

“If grandpa allows it. I will be back after a short recuperation.”

I said as I glanced in the window outside. As I intended, he understood that I was quite hurt by the rumors and nodded his head.

“We’ll take care of the people, so you don’t need to worry and go.”

“I can’t cause trouble at the temple. Can I come forward and say it myself?”

“Still, I’m a little worried about Baby Saint because there might be other rumors about it.”

His concerns were justified, as there was hardly any good news.

“You should know now that I am not a child who just lives with it.”

Grandpa laughed out loud, haha.

“Still, I am worried.”

I had to say it myself.

This was a punishment for those people who believed those ridiculous rumors and even made them big. I feel sorry for the innocent. Still, as I said, I was selfish. It needed to come out of my mouth in advance to prevent ridiculous rumors from spreading again.

If I came forward to tell them not to look for me because I left for recuperation because of them, then they couldn’t spread false rumors about why I left.

“Did something happen if you’re leaving for recuperation?”

I clasped my hands together with a relaxed smile and spoke as if praying like a true believer, like God’s representative.

“These are all my choices to better serve the God L’Aquila. You understand Grandpa, right?”

“Baby Saint always mentions L’Aquila when I pick on you. Instead of that, don’t worry about this place and take a good rest. I promise.”

“Sure.”

Grandpa agreed with me and promised to let me know the result after the meeting. He then said he would probably all agree with me, so don’t worry too much and keep calm.

So, until then, he decided to let Verdo take charge of escorting me. While I brought him to return him right away, it didn’t work. Even if it was just all right, grandpa refused and insisted on having Verdo by my side.

He still had a lot of worries, be it now or in the past. He was someone who still liked giving and burying himself in work as happiness.

It would have been better for my grandfather to be a saint, but why was it me?

Thank you so much for always supporting the novels I work on, even if you don’t buy me a coffee, I really do appreciate it a lot.
