Chapter 189: Trial Of Survival Part Seven

[AN: Bonus Chapter 6/7]

Standing next to the door, Kana waited for Mary to open it. Mary grabbed the handle and looked at Kana, who nodded back. With a quick turn of the doorknob and swing of the door, Kana reached out and grabbed Shentia by the neck, and tossed her into the room. Mary then quickly closed the door.

"Ahh! Mary!" Shentia's eyes were full of hate as she looked at Mary.

"You can yell all you want, Shentia, but I have already made this room soundproof." Mary sneered.

"Humph!  I knew one day you would end up betraying your own kind." Shentia looked at Mary, who was standing next to Kana, and raised her gun. "It seems the Commander was right to make sure I keep an eye on you. Mary, for the act of turning traitor against the Jokasins Empire, I will now sentence you to death."

Shentia smirked as she aimed her gun and pulled the trigger. Kana did not waste any time as she whispered: "[Meteorite Armor], [Water Barrier]!"  and jumped in front of Mary. The beam from Shentia's weapon hit Kana's [Water Barrier] and dissipated into nothing. The attack did not even breach her [Water Barrier]. Kana stood there with rocky armor covering her body and a barrier of water surrounding her and scratched her head. "And here I thought your weapons would be much more powerful… Mary, are you sure this gun is real?"

Mary felt slightly embarrassed by Kana's remark, but she did nod her head and answered: "Yes, it is one of the newest weapons that were sent out to us."

"Strange, your people have such high strength, but this kind of weapon can kill you?" Kana asked.

"We may hold great strength, but our defenses are lacking. Although mine might be a little stronger since I have scales..." Mary explained.

"I see… Anyway..." Kana got her questions answered and then looked back at Shentia, who was standing there quite confused as to what was going on. She could have sworn she pulled the trigger just now. She did not understand why there was not a gaping hole in the prisoner.

"What was that!? How did you block my attack!?" Shentia began to panic and pulled the trigger a few more times for the same thing to happen again and again.

"Shentia, this world is large. What Kana did just now is called magic. It is what her people use on a daily basis. Not that you will have a chance to see it ever again since you will die here." Mary smiled mockingly at Shentia.

Kana shook her head and opened her mouth: "[Water Breath]". A stream of highly pressurized water shot out of her mouth and slammed into Shentia's neck, separating her head from the rest of her body. A pool of blood formed on the floor where Shentia's now headless body lay. "That was much simpler than I thought. "

"Hey, Kana, can you teach me how to do that?" Mary asked. She had never seen such attacks before and found everything Kana did to be very fascinating.

Kana chuckled lightly as she picked up the weapon that Shentia was holding. "Unfortunately, this is not something I can teach. It is not that I do not want to teach you. It is that I really can't teach you."

Mary pursed her lips and pouted slightly, feeling slightly jealous of Kana. If she had such power, she would never have been looked down upon and called lower class just because of a small defect in her body."I see."

Kana smiled and handed the weapon she picked up to Mary. "Mary, the item you used earlier that you took my bag out of, what was that?"

"This?" Mary pulled out a small silver cube that had blue glowing lines etched into it. "This is a space cube. It allows you to store things into a special space where time doesn't flow. I happened to find one not too long ago. Unfortunately, I only have the one, or else I would give you one."

"No, it's fine. I was just curious. I will try to find one for myself during the time I am on this world." Kana wanted one of those cubes badly because it would make storing things much easier!

"On this world?" Kana's words confused Mary. But Kana did not elaborate. Kana did not want to waste time explaining things right now.

"Let's go." Kana said as she opened the door. "Aoi, I need you to help me protect Mary."

"Okay!" Aoi said as she flew off Kana's shoulder and landed on Mary's.

Mary was still slightly scared of Aoi, but she did not say anything. She dared not to after seeing the things Kana could do. Plus, she was already grateful that Kana was willing to take her along, even if she was somewhat of a burden. "Mary, you will need to lead while I take up the rear. Do not worry about being shot at. Aoi will take care of it."

"Roger. I will bring us to the closest exit." Mary answered before taking the lead. The small group of three began heading to the west side of the base.

A few minutes went by when a young man entered Commander Branson's office once more. He saluted Commander Branson before making his report: "Sir, I have lost contact with Shentia. I have tried to radio her a few times, but she is not answering."

"Then go find her. And also contact Mary and tell her to come to my office." Commander Branson said lightly. He did not see any need to speed things along. To him, his base was not a place someone could escape from easily. That was until a female soldier came running into the office completely out of breath.

"Commander, it's bad! Shentia is dead! I also saw the prisoner and Mary heading towards the west side of the base!"

Commander Branson's face became visibly black when he heard this. "Put the base into lockdown! Do not let those two go! You can shoot to kill if you see Mary, but the prisoner must not be harmed and kept alive! Send out all teams to the west side of the base!"

Red lights began flashing left and right as the metal shutters began to close in each hallway. Mary and Kana both frowned when they saw the metal shutter in front of them close suddenly. "Shit, they locked the base down!"

"It's fine! Aoi, kill anyone who comes near us!" Kana yelled as she pulled Mary behind her. She faced the metal shutter, opened her mouth, and took a deep breath: "[Dragon Breath]!"
