Chapter 610: First Fight Within The Dreaded Grounds Part 2

Kana also did not hesitate in her actions as she shot forward as well. The two rock lions roared out in anger at the two humanoids showing aggression towards them. With red eyes full of murderous intentions, they each lept at their respective attackers. Liu Na had the rock lion she was facing sweep out with one of its huge front paws, its claws extended out, aiming for her head. She quickly reacted and bent her body backward, letting the huge paw fly over her head while at the same time striking the underside of its leg with her sword. The underside had no armor plating like the rest of the rock lion's body, making it a perfect place to attack.

On Kana's side, the rock lion used its long tail with a large round rock ball at the end to attack Kana. It was using its tail like a whip and an extraordinary speed, causing Kana quite the headache as she could not get close. With each pass of its tail, Kana was forced to quickly dodge or use her sword to parry the attack.

"This is really annoying!" It was Kana's second real battle in this world. And it was just as annoying, maybe more so than the blood clones. But it has also shown her that she was still weak and inexperienced.  She was not as strong as she thought she was. Once you removed her other skills, she was nothing more than a mere human without any true ability. Yes, she had been trained for a long time in dragfu, but that was with her also wielding her other powers, and since then, she had never used it much.

While currently, she was not in any danger, she still hated her lack of experience.  With each dodge, Kana was getting quicker and slowly began to adapt to the consistent attacks. While the attacks were somewhat unpredictable, Kana was still able to dodge. But it seemed the rock lion was also getting sick of its prey, easily dodging its attack and without any warning turned around and swiped at Kana while still using its long tail to attack her from over head. Kana was completely caught off guard and was struck in her side by the large paw that slammed into her sending her flying into the tree line, crashing through a few trees, and tumbling to a stomp on the ground.

"Shit..." Kana couldn't help but curse. She could feel that a few of her ribs and her right arm were broken. That was how hard she was hit. Pain surged through her body, causing her to grit her teeth as she slowly got up. Luckily she did not drop her sword, or she would be without a weapon.

Kana had no time to see how Liu Na was doing as the rock lion did not give her a chance to do so. But it seemed Lui Na had much more battle experience when dealing with rank one demonic beasts. It was just that this once was rather difficult to deal with. While she was able to give it a few wounds, its tail attacks were now hindering her, and like Kana, she was slowly getting to be at a disadvantage.

Kana, though, was not a happy camper. She was really in a lot of pain and could not find an opening with this rock lion.  "At this rate, I will be kicked out of here before I can even accomplish anything. I would end up dead if I was alone and forced to fight two of these at the same time."

Kana couldn't help but worry about Liu Na. Lui Na seemed more frightened over the situation, but here Kana was, seriously hurt already and just barely holding on. She just hoped her new friend was faring much better.

*Roar!*

The rock lion let out an angry roar as its prey did not seem to want to die. It was starting to get frustrated. As it was a rank one demonic beast, it did not have much intelligence. It was only slightly smarter than a normal animal. As such, its only thought at this time was to kill its prey and nibble on its bones. Because of this instinct, it attacked Kana with its large mouth for once instead of its claws and tail in hopes of taking a large bite.

Kana saw it was not using both tail and paws in this attack, causing her eyes to immediately light up! She waited for the rock lion's mouth to get very close before jumping up and stabbing the rock line in the eye. As the rock lion roared in pain and stuck its paw at its head, Kana pulled her sword out of its eye and did a backflip onto its back and then back onto the ground and slid up under the rock lion. Her sword thrust out and was just about to pierce its underside when the rock lion suddenly jumped back a few meters away.

"Tch..." Kana clicked her tongue. "Humph. See what you get for hurting me? An eye for an eye, they always say. In this case, literally an eye."

Kana felt slightly proud that she had finally done some damage to the rock lion but felt it was regrettable that she was not able to get the last hit in. She never thought that its reaction would be so quick. Otherwise, she would not have waited until she was completely under the rock lion to strike out. "It seems it sensed the danger… This means I need to control my blood lust more, or this will not end well for me. But hopefully, losing an eye will at least make its attack less accurate."

That was when an idea came to mind. Since she had two forms, she should really be using them to her advantage. She had tried to partially transform before, but it seemed she was unable to do so at this time. But she could use her full body transformation. "Just you wait, you overgrown armored house cat. I will make sure you die and become my dinner tonight!"

A cold glint passed through Kana's eyes as she charged forward. She threw her sword up into the air, and right before the Rock Lion's eyes, she disappeared while it was distracted by the shiny object in the air for a split second. This completely angered the rock lion as it roared out one more in anger!

*Roar!*
