Chapter 587: Cultivation

The group stared stupidly at the young woman who walked out of the tree line. They were nervous at the start when they saw the look in her eye but quickly realized she was not staring at them but the meat in their hands. The way she looked was quite comical as she stood there wide eyed with her finger at the corner of her lips and a bit of drool rolling down her chin. It was clear as day that she was hungry. The oldest in the group, the young man roasting the meat, held out the big thigh leg he just roasted out towards the strange young woman.

Five minutes later…

"What are you doing? That's mine!" Kana yelled.

"How is that yours!? I just roasted this for myself!" The older young man of the group yelled out. At this time, Kana and the young man were fighting over the big thigh leg that was just roasted. The other four people in the group stared at the two in shock.

"She's a spirit beast, right?" The youngest in the group, a young girl, asked.

"I can't feel her cultivation level…." The teen male in the group said, feeling a bit scared.

"She doesn't seem all that different from us besides her appearance. Only divine beasts are able to transform into human form, so I think she is a divine beast." The older female of the group said. A bit of fear could be heard in her voice. Her words all caused the other three to become fearful. But as they watched Kana happily eating the thigh meat she won while shoving her foot into their Senior brother's face, they realized that this divine beast was not hostile at all.

An hour later, Kana was lying on her back with her belly protruding out, letting out a satisfied burp. "Ah! That hit the spot!"

"Ummm..." The youngest of the group finally couldn't contain her curiosity and asked: "Can you tell us your name?"

"Me?" Kana sat up and looked at the young girl. "My name's Kana? What's yours?"

"Mei Ling." The young girl answered with a smile. Seeing how friendly Kana was, her courage soared as she asked: "Kana, are you a divine beast?"

"Junior Sister Mei!"  The older girl of the group yelled.

"What!? I just wanted to know!" Mei Ling argued as she pouted.

"Ummm…. What is a divine beast?" Kana asked, her head tilted to the side.  She had never heard of such a thing before.

The group of five all stared at Kana in disbelief, but when the older young man of the group saw Kana's look, he knew she was not saying this as a lie. She really did not know! "You really don't know!? All demonic beasts strive in cultivation to become a divine beasts. It is the pinnacle of all demonic beasts!"

"Oh… Anyway, what are all your names?" Kana asked, not caring about divine beasts anymore since she was a dragon, not a beast.

Seeing how quickly Kana changed the subject, seeming uninterested in divine beasts, made the others feel that something was off, but the oldest of the group, the young man, decided not to pry as he answered her question. "My name is Yi Tan. You know Mei Ling. Him over there is Gu Tianzi. The oldest of the girls in our group is Shi Yu, and lastly, Liu Na, our final member. "

Kana smiled and bowed her head: "It is good to meet you all. I thank you for the delicious meat."

"Haha! No problem." Yi Tan liked anyone who liked meat!

Realizing this was a good time to get some information about this world, Kana decided to act like she had amnesia. "I hate to ask, but I seem to have lost my memories and have no idea what kind of world this is. I was wondering if you all could fill me in."

"Lost memory, huh?" Yi Tan now realized why Kana did not react to the words divine beast and so easily walked up to them. Thinking for a moment, he nodded his head and answered: "Sure, we have plenty of time, so we can fill you in."

"Thank you, that would be great," Kana said happily. She sat up and gave Yi Tan her full attention.

Yi Tan nodded and went on to tell Kana all about the world. The world was based on the law of survival of the fittest. Those who cultivated to the pinnacle were considered the strongest. The more Kana listened, the more she understood. It seemed that cultivation was the process of taking in what was called spiritual qi into the body, and by cultivating this, it would allow you to grow stronger and stronger.

Spiritual qi was a form of magic in a way but also tempered the body and allowed them to exert powers far above that of a normal human. Kana had no idea if she could cultivate or not, and the idea of doing so really caught her interest. Because by doing so, she would be able to get stronger as well. Not to mention it might enable her to finally break free from the plant's restrictions. The more she thought about it like this, the more she truly wished to try it out.

"Can you teach me how to cultivate?" Kana asked. Her question stunned everyone.

The five looked at each other before Yi Tan scratched his head and answered: "We can try, but I am not sure you will be able to cultivate like a human. Umm… Let me think… To start, you will need to be able to sense the spiritual qi in the air. Normally one will have their spirit root checked to see what kind of talent they have from an early age. As you are a divine beas..."

"Dragon..." Kana interrupted. She did not like people calling her a beast as she was not a beast! She was a dragon!

"Excuse me?" Yi Tan thought he was hearing wrong. Dragons were supposed to be considered mythical beasts, monsters that no one would ever be able to stand against even if they were at the pinnacle. But dragons were things of stories, yet the girl who stood in front of them was saying she was one.

"I said I am a dragon. Look." Kana smiled and jumped back to make some room. The five humans stared at Kana as her body began to glow with a black and white light.
