Chapter 565: Rain And Alex Part 1

Rain looked at the old man now sprawled out on the floor and then back at Gale, who was standing in the air with her arms crossed across her chest, sneering at the old man. "Don't try to act pitiful! I know you're fine."

The old man suddenly jumped up and launched himself at Gale. "Gale, sweety, did you miss your Da… Oof!"

"Who is my daddy!? How can a husband be a daddy? You sick bastard!" Gale yelled out in a huff, her little fist punching the old man away.

Rain looked at the two and giggled. The interaction reminded her of her time with her husband. He was just as goofy, always trying to make her smile and feel happy. It was because he was like that that she fell in love with him.

It happened when she was younger, right after she split off from her sisters to begin following her own path. Before then, she had lived through many life and death situations, but on this day, she really thought she was going to die. She had heard word of an ancient temple deep within a forest just outside a mountain range within the realm of gods. She searched day and night and finally found the temple after spending almost a month in the woods.

The temple was covered in forest overgrowth, and parts of it were falling apart, but even though it looked beautiful in its own way, it was home to one of the strongest monsters in the forest. And this temple had become its nest. She was quickly surrounded and ended up in a never ending battle as the monster was a spider monster and could lay millions of eggs. Rain fought non stop for days on end, slaughtering baby spider monsters until her body finally could no longer take it anymore. Exhaustion settled in, and she was wounded all over. Even with her sword's healing and the armor that Creige had made for her, she was still on the verge of succumbing to her wounds.

Right when she felt like she would collapse and end up overrun. A man suddenly appeared and sliced the spider webs above her that blocked her path. He landed in front of her and scooped her up, and flew away with her. She only got to see his handsome side profile before passing out.

When Rain opened her eyes next, she found that she was looking at an unfamiliar ceiling, and the smell of medical herbs filled the air. She blinked a few times before slowly sitting up. But she quickly realized something was wrong. She looked under the blanket that was covering her to see that she was completely naked beside the bandages that were wrapped around her wounds. "What!? Why am I naked!?"

"You're awake?" A melodic male voice came from across the room. Rain quickly clutched the blanket to her chest and looked up to see a handsome man with red hair sitting at a table filled with herbs looking back at her.

"You! What did you do to me!?" Rain had never been naked in front of strangers before. Her first thought was that this man had defiled her!

The man ignored Rain's glare and began explaining things. "Don't worry. I didn't do anything. It goes against my pride as a doctor. But from your reaction and with how energetic you seem, I can see that the antidote is working. You were poisoned quite severely by ghostly spiders. Just a scratch can kill someone, and normally it would be instant death. For you to be able to stay alive while still fighting shows just how strong you are. Luckily I was also checking out that temple, or else you would have died."

Rain looked at the man before checking her body, and only then did she realize she had indeed been poisoned. She couldn't help but frown. But this did not explain why the man had to Strip her naked! "Why did you take all my clothes off?"

"Look at the wrappings and tell me if I could give you treatment without removing your clothes." The man responded calmly. He had been ready to be called a pervert or even slapped. Luckily this girl was willing to ask questions before resorting to violence.

Rain once again took a good look at where the bandages were, and one of them was high up on her inner thigh near her crotch, making her blush. She reached down and pressed on the bandage and felt pain on the side of her leg. Even the middle of her chest had a long gash in it that was bandaged. She could only believe his words. Her body was riddled with wounds. As she fought, she would not have realized how injured she was. This much she knew since she had been heavily injured before. But at that time, Angelica took care of her wounds.

Rain looked back up at the man and bowed her head. "Thank you…. If I could trouble you for some clothes, I will take my leave."

"You can't leave yet. The poison has not fully left your body, and some of those wounds were very deep. I will not let someone I save leave just to end up dying. So lay in the bed and stay put. I will go make you some food." That man's voice, this time, held a hint of anger. He stood up and was about to walk out of the room but stopped and turned around. "Right, we don't know each other's names. My name is Alex. What's yours?"

Rain looked up at the man and pursed her lips before lowering her head and saying: "Rain."

Alex looked at Rain and smiled as he said: "It's good to meet you. I will go get you some food now. Don't try to get up. If you open some of your wounds, you just might bleed to death. I will be back shortly."

Rain eyes gazed at Alex's retreating back before lowering and looking at herself. Her cheeks blushed as she hugged her blanket even tighter.
