While there are many misconceptions related to goblins, such as their horrid looks or lack of intelligence, their small stature isn’t one. But, that doesn’t stop Stryg from aspiring to his belief of greatness: power, prestige, and food with salt. When fate drags Stryg from his forest home and into the ruthless city of Hollow Shade he must learn that some monsters live everywhere. Long-time readers will know what I meanDragons: Only important in later chapsDwarves: Fairly common race (there are racist jerks but not many)Elves: As far as I know, this is mainly referring to drows (dark elves)Goblins: Tribal-style, yet intelligent. Many people are disdainful toward goblins as a whole (MC has to deal with racism)Magic: Interesting magic system, and pretty comprehensive in my opinionMale Protag: YesMonster Girls: Orcs, Vampires, Lamias (barely), and Frost Giants exist. Not much of a harem if that is what you are looking for.Monster Society: Not too sure on this one. Pretty much all (besides lamias) of the aforementioned races are pretty integratedNon-human MC: This is kind of a plot point but yeahPolygamy: It does exist in this worldR-18: A few suspicious scenes early on, but I think this is for the gore (of which there is a lot)Ruthless MC: Heavily tied to his character growth. You insult his friends, he claws your eyes out (if you're lucky)Slaves: MC is against slavery for the most part but it is somewhat prominent in the worldStrength-based Social Hierarchy: Oh heck yesVamps: yupWeak to Strong: Most definitelyI need more reviews like this in every novel.I love this novel, its real goodLately I've been reading a bunch of shitty Chinese novels copying each other, and this is something new, unexpected. I even read chapters completely and don't skip boring bitsStory is alright, but the problem is the MC, he's too infuriating even if you're super patient, he's rash and never thinks before he moves, In a way the author did a good job on portraying a retard goblin MC, I'm sure his growth will be great. Now, the problem is even if you're patient, there's still less than 300 chapters, if you've read annoying novels before I'm sure you'll know that stories like these might get good, but not early on, So I'd say it's best not to read this until there's like 500+ or even 1000+ chapters, since I seriously think it's worth it for now. The R18 scenes aren't even that great if you're looking for that too, it was nice early in the chapters, but I think the author decided to censor that too in latter chapters, soo yeah, it's terrible in both worlds right now.I still think there's some potential on this one, story-wise anyway, but it's too infuriating right now, especially with the amount of chapters and lack of distraction/fan-service, but more boring interludes and flashbacks mashed with drama instead, as mentioned by other reviewers. That about wraps my two-cents on this story. The thing about this novel is that at any given point, you will be left dissatisfied. It only shines if you really push through and stick with it. Personally, I think this novel is a masterpiece; it's unlike anything I've ever read. However, for the longest time, the socially inept MC struggles to interact with people appropriately. Combined with some stupid characters making stupid decisions, this novel can seem pretty trashy at the beginning. This is the cause of many readers dropping the novel, but also leaving many other readers (like myself), drooling over the thought of another chapter. As you'll come to realize throughout the novel, it is exactly those idiotic moments and imperfect people that make this story so lifelike. In summary, this novel will make you laugh, cry, fume, and facepalm, but I promise that it won't disappoint.SpoilerAnd as of chap 304 (the latest at this time) the MC is finally starting to wise up Review of 211 chapters. This novel is not bad in some places and absolutely terrible in others. First, about the good. The plot twists are good sometimes. Some of the adventures are interesting. The structure of the world is curious. The fights are good enough. Now for the bad things. In essence, it all boils down to one thing - the author's desire to create a drama. Oh no, not like that. Striving to create DRAMA! Because of this, the characters behave illogically and their emotions are in complete chaos. First, about the MC. He is a goblin who was despised for his weakness in the tribe. He came out of the forest, suffered from oppression in the city and had DRAMA. Nobody likes goblins and hybrids (children of different kinds). They don't like the goblin. They "pee on his head". Friends come to him, he builds relationships with them, and then what? They stopped "pee on the head" to the goblin. And then the goblin says "I am not worthy of such friends" and begins to "shit on his head." And then the goblin SUFFERS. Oh my god this is such a DRAMA. MC teacher Loh is also in drama. We are being given a story that she lost a student and is now devoting all of herself to "caring" for the MC. She hates her grandfather and mentions the lost student. So what's the reason? SpoilerIt was not a student, but her brother. In the army, he violated Loh's order and decided to rescue several refugees. Intelligence showed that the caravan was about to be attacked. O! And this guy was the fiancé of the girl Loh was in love with. She decided not to save her brother and was "deliberately late" so that he died. As a result, she regrets what she did and tells her grandfather. He says "Shit!" and helps cover the traces of the crime. Otherwise, the girlfriend will hate Loh for the loss of the groom. She loved him. And then Loh says to his grandfather "I hate you!" For what? "You helped me not for my sake, but to avoid a scandal around our house" And here you think, "What the f#ck?" Grandfather also has DRAMA. SpoilerAs a child, he planned a trip with a girlfriend and hid his talents so as not to interfere in the power struggle. His dying father appointed him as his successor. Grandfather Loh SUFFERED from the loss of his father. The girl came to support him. I'll be there and all. Then it turns out that he became a lord. What happened next? The girl yells at the guy. "We wanted to go on a trip! Oh, you asshole! (Where her words of support to the guy who F#CK just lost his father) and she runs away." This is illogical. O! And hybrids. Everyone hates and despises hybrids, but every f#cking romantic couple in the novel is a pair of different species, which will definitely f#cking be born a hybrid. What the f#ck?! I can understand soap operas. This novel shows a terrible job. This is not a soap opera - this is a waltz of idiots. MC at one point speaks like an ignorant child of 5 years old. Then - like a playboy. Then this is a sophisticated type who is ready to give smart advice on how not to suffer (how damn funny when he constantly "shits on his own head"). MC says to wife "I don't want you to be hurt." She replies, "It hurts me because you sleep with another woman." So, what is next? MC says "What? Why?" And with great pleasure he f#cks another almost in front of his wife. But he f#cking gives smart advice to others. The goblin who crawled out of the forest knows the words conceptually, bioluminescent, etc.I have to agree with this comment. It's really dissapointing. The world building is great at first and i got very interested in what would happen next. But at some point, i don't remember exactly when it started, the characters just go on and on about their tragic backstories and the issues they have becuase of them. I like a little drama in stories but god damn if every character has a tragic backstory, which is totally the case, than none of it really has any impact anymore. WHAT your parents despise you or died (be it to illness or being executed) and you siblings despise you and you have no self esteem and are constantly physicly abused? Well same thing with everyone else so welcome to the club I guess. It really is a shame since the other aspects of the novel have so much potential. All I can say is that is beautifully written and hilarious. Can someone tell me if the MC is overpowered?Hmmm... It has only two problems that is 'self-loathing' and 'inferiority complex'Oh, man... Feels great that this novel has R-18 as the tag otherwise probably I d miss the hidden gem. It feels so refreshing to read from a monster's perspective. Yes, it has mood swings or rather lots of emotions but it makes the characters alive. Plus the plot/riddle regarding lots of things in this novel makes me really excited. Absolutely recommend to read this masterpiece!Really good novelA masterpiece , there is no other way to describe this novel , everything is so well connected , like everything , this is just waay above 95% of the novels out there , i have no idea why it's not that famousTbh I almost missed this book simply because I disliked the cover. That was only the first opinion and I'm glad that I read the book.well i also hesitated to read it at the start and just bookmarked it xD but now i wish it has faster releases >.< xD back<<
