Chapter 149 - A Battle Royale Between Schools

It was just too sudden.

Everyone held their breaths.

None expected something like this to happen. After all the fights and with fighters waiting for each other to make a move, this occurred.

Everyone should've been just fighting for the top spot. Whether fair or unfair, they must remain standing. That's how they will climb up to the hierarchy. They were prepared to get hit and fight strong foes. They were prepared to get beaten and knocked out. However, no one was prepared to die.

"W-what have you done?"

I stammered.

I crouched down in front of the guy with a hat, shadowing his face. My hand reached for the neck of this guy's opponent and... of course, there's no pulse.

Why did I have to check it? It should be obvious.

With one slap... his neck twisted, killing him in an instant.

Death

It was the first time, I have seen one. I've always thought that I'm tough, only under the Boss. However, my stomach twisted as reality sunk into me. Somebody died. This someone will no longer wake up and it's all because we tried to make them fight each other.

I forgot why. Why did I let them do something so horrible?

I looked up to the guy with the hat. From this perspective, I could see his lifeless eyes. There was no surprise or guilt. This man intentionally killed someone.

Why did it reach this point?...

"Hey, Chihua, let's not wait any more, okay?"

The Boss said to me. Her real name is Trisha Jane. She's the top gal, no, the top dog in the Public. Her status was leagues above any of us.

We've always thought that we are tough and we live a different world from the others but this girl, she showed up that we're nothing in front of real strength. Strenght that not even Olympic bodybuilders should have.

I don't know if that defies physics or science was just lying about girls being weaker sex than boys. 

However, that doesn't matter. What matters is that her strength is the real deal. I will follow her for the rest of my life! I hope, that someday, she will see me as equal!

"Now that we've basically placed the Public on the spot again, there will be many challengesr, thinking that they can top me, the Boss. That's why I want you to gather those who think they're tough and let them have a battle royale."

Boss said as if it was an easy thing to do.

Even though I'm confident that I'm only second to her, that doesn't mean those knuckleheads will listen to me. If they have the stupid idea that they can defeat the Boss in a fight, why would they listen to me, her sidekick?

"Nah, don't worry, don't you have faith about the name I spread? Just tell them to fix their ranking first. The Public will be the reigning council over other schools and will decide what the rules are until someone can take that position from me."

It was as if she read my mind. Boss is not just strong, she's also witty. The only thing that she lacks is self-control and ambition. It's true that she's trying to take over Heren's high schools but that's not really her goal. She just wants to be at the top. 

I couldn't call it ambition. For her, that's an easy thing to do. After that, I hope she expands her territory.

"Go, we don't have all day. Even though we just showed our faces out there, we're already trending. It's best to strike while the iron's hot, no?"

Only she can say that. Others don't have unlimited stamina. After she established her name in just one day, on the next, her underlings were already terrorizing the other schools.

Of course, there are still many doubts regarding the Public. However, even the weakest student in here is no pushover. Once they've received the permission to go all-out against other schools, they've basically dominated the noobs.

Now, I have to tell the Four Heavenly Shits to spread this information. At the basketball court, back of the church, a giant battle royale will commence. The last-standing ten will be eligible to battle the Boss as they wished to.

This seemed chaotic but this will be super popular. A battle royale of fistfights in real life. Who will not want to see that? Even if they're all weak as hell, just thinking that everywhere, they're trying to prove themselves in front of the Public makes my blood boil!

This is it! This is what it feels like to be at the top!

As long as I follow the Boss, I will always be looking from this perspective!

And so, I used every method to spread the news. Just as I planned and expected, it spread like wildfire.

The most excited ones were the spectators. With the crowd's presence, the legitimacy of the event should be obvious. Those who think they're tough will come here.

Of course, with just one whole day, the information will not reach every school in the city. Basically, we're in the west part of Heren City. The schools at the farthest east, northeast, and southeast are not really expected to hear this.

The sample size is already large enough. this is fine. We don't want the basketball court to be full. Also, I bet only those who are courageous will step into it. We'll just see...

It was now afternoon.

Today is still just Wednesday, but the Boss' influence has accelerated since Monday. It's unbelievable at first glance but her power is the real deal so I was not surprised.

With the Four Heavenly Retards beside me, we stepped onto the basketball court. Without managing them, those who just want to spectate were behind the steel nets. Inside were the fighters. I'd say, there are about thirty to forty of them here. Quite a lot to be honest.

But we've basically filtered them. The outsides were the non-fighters. Those on the inside were the top guns of their own school, wanting their name to spread more.

However, once we stepped inside, their eyes were not on us but on the girl sitting on top of one of the basketball rings. Thank goodness she's wearing a jersey right now.

"Good job, getting him here. You four, go set up a bet. Let Chihua handle the rest."

Of course, Trisha Jane is in love with money. She wouldn't let this opportunity go to waste.
