1230 Thoughts of Leaving

Name:Pet King Author:Jie Po
When Famous heard the screaming, it immediately rushed out from the tent, thinking that something horrible had happened, like meeting a wild beast or terrorists hiding in the desert. When it did rush over, though, other than the smell of p*ss in the air, there was nothing strange going on.

As for the human skull half-buried in the sand, Famous wasn't a person anyway, so it didn't really care. Maybe it would look twice if it was a dog's skull.

Right then, the other men rushed there as well, the younger and fitter in front while the older and weaker were at the back.

Zhang Zian shot Famous a questioning look. It shook its head, showing that it was nothing much, probably just a scare.

Gao Ke rushed over with a flashlight in hand, nervously illuminating their srroundings. When he didn't find any danger, he immediately rushed to ask He He, "Xiao He, what's wrong? Don't cry. Tell me what happened."

He He sniffled, unable to form a coherent sentence, but the female Detective described what had happened briefly.

After they had finished building the tent, He He mentioned that she had drunk too much and wanted to go relieve herself. The female Detective didn't have much need for the restroom, but she still followed her to the designated spot.

The big jeeps blocked the light coming from the center of the camp. Even though the light was weak, they could still see the road clearly due to how much the sand reflected light.

He He wanted to go further, but the Detective convinced her to just settle it here and not go too far away. She reassured her that she would keep a lookout and wouldn't let the men near.

She certainly couldn't hold onto a flashlight while relieving herself, or they would be able to see it no matter how far away they were.

The Detective held onto the flashlight, but she didn't point it towards He He. She walked back a few steps, back facing her, staring at the men moving around in the camp grounds and preventing them from approaching either intentionally or unintentionally.

Even though they were both females, and they both took good care of each other during the ride, they had only just gotten to know each other. He He didn't want her to hear her peeing, so when the Detective turned around, she silently took a few more steps back.

It was easy for men to relieve themselves. They just needed to loosen their belt or pull down a zip and they could get it over and done with. As long as they didn't have any issues with their prostate, they wouldn't get it all splattered on themselves, but women had a lot more considerations than that.

He He looked at her surroundings, making sure that there were no other people around her. She didn't rush to take off her pants. Instead, she wanted to squat down and dig a hole in the sand, pee in the sand, and then cover it up.

She had played with sand back when she'd played at the beach too, so she didn't give it much thought, reaching out to dig. The moment she did, her fingers hit something hard.

She thought that it was a stone at first, but it didn't seem quite like cold, hard stone. She was too lazy to shift places, so she decided that instead of digging deep, she would dig widely. There was no need for it to be too deep anyway, since this spot would be used by the females only.

That one push of hers revealed a round white object right in the middle of the hole.

With the light and visibility low, she couldn't quite see what the item was, but she could confirm that it wasn't a stone then. Out of curiosity, she ran her finger along the object and dug lower, wanting to see what exactly it was.

When she saw that one side of the white object showed two black eye sockets, her brain short-circuited.

In the next second, she let out a blood-curdling scream.

Maybe due to how hard she'd screamed or from the scare, she could feel warmth coming up her belly, as though she had leaked a little.

Hearing the scream, the Detective was shocked too, thinking that a beast had attacked He He, and rushed over to check the situation. He He leaped into her hug the moment she saw the Detective like she was her savior, letting herself sob freely.

Before then, He He had already felt regret. She felt that she never should have joined them on their expedition. She'd thought that the Egypt trip was going to be a chance to be a tourist, sitting in comfortable jeeps, finding a few cute cats in the middle of the desert, snapping a few pretty photos, and then going back to China and adding a beautiful line to her resume.

Unfortunately, reality was often a lot more brutal than her imagination. The half-day schedule was already torture to the spoiled girl, and her sweat had already destroyed her carefully-applied makeup. Her delicate skin was made itchy by her sweat, but the worst thing of all was that she couldn't shower.

The men didn't seem to care about whether they could shower or not. Even the Detective was manly about it. He He was alone in her struggles. Even when she tried asking whether she could shower, she was met with glances that people used to regard idiots…

If she'd been given another chance, she would've rather stayed at home in her pajamas, turning the air conditioner to full blast, lying on the sofa, scrolling through her social media, and watching variety shows while eating her mom's delicious food… She really had been insane back then to accept Professor Wei Kang's invitation to come on the trip. Even her phone had been snatched away!

With this scare, she seemed to be releasing all of her greviances in one go, her tears not stopping.

After hearing the Detective's explanation, they understood that it was just a scare. They didn't blame He He either. She was young and female. It must have been horrifying to dig up a skull at night.

"Xiao He, don't cry. It's just a skull. Did you not see the mannequins when you were studying in school? There's no difference. Don't be afraid," Wei Kang said.

"Professor…I…I…I want to go home…" He He wailed, her sobs increasing in volume.

"That…"

That was diffcult for Wei Kang. He did regret bringing He He along as well. But now that they had already entered the desert, they couldn't possibly send another car just to bring her out, could they? What about the other people? Would they wait here or keep going? Who would they send to bring He He out? After she left the desert, would it be safe for her to stay alone in a foreign country?

These were all questions without answers.

The fatty Xiao Tianyu's mouth twitched. He wanted to volunteer himself to bring He He out. He had been having second thoughts too. He could barely stop sweating during the day!

"No, we became a team after we entered the desert. We went in together, and we'll get out together! Not a single person is allowed to move on their own!"

Peter Lee separated the crowd to come into the inner circle. His words punched with finality. He would not be swayed.

He He could still deal with Wei Kang, still whine at him, but she didn't know how to deal with Peter Lee. She couldn't help but feel he wasn't what he seemed on the surface.

She shot Wei Kang a pleading look, hoping that Wei Kang could put in a word for her to send her out of the desert.

Wei Kang was caught between a rock and a hard place, but he still shook his head, averting his gaze. Peter Lee was the leader here, he meant, and he had nothing he could do.

The disappointment crashed into He He, and her tears, which had finally stopped, felt like they were going to rush out again.

Zhang Zian agreed with Peter Lee's refusal to compromise. Someone had to step up and be the bad guy today. If not, today she'd back out, and tomorrow another person would back out. How would that look? That would be a huge blow to their morale! The desert wasn't one's house, where one could come and go as one pleased!

He wanted to get rid of the burden, He He, and he believed that Peter Lee thought so too. But they couldn't make an exception, or everyone would scatter, and the team would be impossible to lead.
