217 Beware of Scammers

“I’ve heard about this AT. From what I know, they don’t have any established artistes yet. How do you know that they’re reliable?” Qiao Ze said with a frown to Qiao Xin.

He had access to gossip like this in the entertainment industry. Many companies had bad records, such as embedding unfair clauses in contracts with new artistes, or deliberately tricking them into paying penalty fees for contract breach.

Qiao Ze didn’t rely on his family’s connections when he joined the industry. It was only because he was lucky to have met a manager who really wanted to take care of him, or he might have been scammed badly.

Qiao Xin was a little angry. Why was her family’s attitude like this when she announced that she was going to have her own career? Shouldn’t they congratulate her?

“Xiao Ze is right. Since you’re going down this path, you can’t just choose any random company. You should let your second and third brothers check it out.”

Old Master Qiao also agreed with her cousins.

Qiao Xin was going to use this opportunity to complain about Qiao Yue. She didn’t expect her family to be worried about her being scammed, so she didn’t say anything.

“Do you have so little confidence in me? I’ve made up my mind about having my own career.”

“Qiao Xin, you still need to be capable of managing your own career, right?” Qiao Yu said uncharacteristically with sarcasm.

Qiao Yu was usually very polite, but he had just blatantly dissed Qiao Xin, which confused people.

“Fourth brother, why aren’t you speaking up for me?”

Qiao Yu shook his head and chuckled. “When I passed by the rehearsal studios today, I accidentally heard your singing. I feel that you don’t have what it takes to be an artiste.”

Could Qiao Yu have also seen her bullying behavior?

Qiao Xin was a little annoyed. Qiao Yu looked like he was going to speak up for Qiao Yue.

“I also saw you hogging the rehearsal studio. Don’t do it again. The school has its rules and regulations.”

“Fourth brother!” Qiao Xin put down her chopsticks angrily. She didn’t expect Qiao Yu to bring up this matter.

“Qiao Yue! Did you ask fourth brother to say it?” Qiao Xin looked at Qiao Yue.

Qiao Xin shrugged. “Nope. Don’t forget that Hong Ning and fourth brother are also in the same class.”

“You!” Qiao Xin was about to say something when Old Master Qiao scolded her.

“Qiao Xin, it’s good that you want to have your own career, but should still consult your parents about this company, and get some advice from your second and third brothers.”

Old Master Qiao put down his chopsticks after he said that.

“It’s fine, Dad. I’ve looked into that company when I was working abroad. It’s a proper company and has the endorsement of the ambassador of D-Country. It should be legit.” Qiao Li finally spoke up.

Qiao Yue frowned when she heard this.

It wasn’t too difficult to find out that the mastermind behind AT Company was related to Trand.

Qiao Li knew that this company was in cahoots with the drug trade, and yet he still sent his daughter there. It was unbelievable.

Qiao Yue turned to Qiao Jing and exchanged a look with him.

Qiao Jing and Qiao Yue had the same thought. They thought that it was already ridiculous that Qiao Yi was in business with Mahad. They didn’t expect that Qiao Li had just blatantly supported dealings with Andy.

There was indeed an undercurrent in the Qiao family.

Old Master Qiao nodded. “Xiao Jing, give me a copy of AT Company’s information after you’re finished with your investigation.”

Qiao Li said, “Dad, you’re still recuperating. Don’t strain yourself with these things.”

Old Master Qiao glanced at Qiao Li and gestured for him to sit. “Dr. Lu said that I’m almost fully recovered, so I’ll be back managing the company soon. I’ve also sent Qiao Yue to the company for an internship. What’s wrong, Qiao Li? Is there something not to your satisfaction?”

Qiao Li felt a little guilty. “I’m just worried about your health, Dad. So…”

Old Master Qiao gave him a knowing look.

Qiao Yi, who had been sitting quietly, didn’t look happy either, while Qiao Ren looked indifferent.

“Dad, since you’re going back to the company, I’ll go back to my businesses overseas.” Qiao Yi said.

“You’re not allowed to. You’d better stay in the country.” Old Master Qiao snapped. “Haven’t you learned your lesson from before?”

Qiao Yi knew that the old master was referring to his human trafficking incident, so he shut his mouth.

“You can leave your overseas business to Qiao Xuan and transfer the rest of your businesses here to Qiao Yue.”

The entire living room fell silent. Did Old Master Qiao just ask his son to transfer his businesses to Qiao Yue?
