Chapter 85: A Familiar Figure

Qiao Yue wasn’t the only one talking about acupuncture at this moment. Qiao Xuan was doing the same.

Qiao Xuan was leaning back in his chair and pinching the bridge of his nose. He looked exhausted. He had just operated on a patient before he came to S-Country and he had been up for almost 24 hours. He didn’t sleep well on the plane. He could finally relax for a while now that he had some downtime.

“Do you think that Dr. Lu can really wake Grandpa up?” Qiao Xuan asked his assistant.

The assistant thought for a moment before he said, “Dr. Lu is an internationally renowned TCM practitioner. He should be able to help the old master. Don’t you already have a backup plan if TCM didn’t work?”

Qiao Xuan sighed. He really didn’t want to operate on his grandfather unless it was absolutely necessary. Although Western medicine worked more quickly, it also harmed the human body to a certain extent. TCM methods, on the other hand, were gentler. Acupuncture plus medicine could supplement the deficiencies in the patient’s body and help the body recover.

His grandfather was already advanced in age. Risk of surgery would be higher for him compared to younger patients. Recovery would take longer. He was therefore eager to see Dr. Lu’s treatment work on this grandfather.

“If I wasn’t so busy now, I would also like to learn TCM.” Qiao Xuan laughed.

TCM was very well established in C-Country. Just the art of acupuncture was something people admired and respected. Qiao Xuan recalled the time when he saw an old TCM doctor used acupuncture to help an anorexic patient eat at a Chinese and western medicine symposium a few years ago. It shocked him beyond belief.

Qiao Xuan suddenly remembered something else when he thought about the symposium.

He thought that Qiao Yue looked familiar when he first met him. On second thought, Qiao Yue’s figure, side profile, and voice were all very similar to the other disciple of the older Dr. Lu.

The first time he heard of the older Dr. Lu was because of a patient. The patient was also an old man. His family asked an acquaintance to find the older Dr. Lu and asked him to treat the old man.

After studying the old man’s condition, Qiao Xuan spoke to the old man’s family as promised. They had decided on surgery but when he spoke to the old man, the old man would not agree to surgery no matter what.

The family couldn’t persuade the him but they were also very worried about the old man’s condition. A young man who was a disciple of the old miracle-working Dr. Lu then appeared. He claimed that he could cure the old man and asked to treat the patient.

Because the old man didn’t want surgery, his family had no choice but to let the young man try. They didn’t expect that the experiment would end with the old man cured. The family was overjoyed.

Of course, Qiao Xuan heard all this from his friends. He had been very busy and he couldn’t delay other patients because of one patient.

So, he told the family to contact him if the old man agreed to the surgery. He didn’t hear any news about the surgery. Instead, he heard news that the old man was recovering gradually.

After he heard about this, he purposely researched the old miracle-working Dr. Lu and found out how amazing he was.

Whenever he had time, he would visit the old man at the hospital, hoping to meet the disciple of the old miracle-working Dr. Lu. He crossed path with a youth once at the entrance to the ward. He only saw the young man briefly, but his figure was engraved in his memory.

“Wu Chen, don’t you think that Qiao Yue looked like the other disciple of the older miracle-working Dr. Lu?” Qiao Xuan asked.

Qiao Xuan’s question stumped his assistant. Not everyone had a memory as good as Qiao Xuan’s. He had long forgotten people he had met only once or twice, but Qiao Yue…

The fifth young master of the Qiao family was a bit special. When Qiao Xuan asked this, he suddenly felt that Qiao Yue did look like that other disciple.

“A bit. Brother Qiao, do you think Qiao Yue has another identity?” The assistant asked.

“Maybe!”

From the moment Qiao Ze told Qiao Xuan about Qiao Yue, Qiao Xuan had felt that Qiao Yue was too mysterious. He couldn’t help but overthink.

Whether it was him, Qiao Jing, Qiao Ze, or Qiao Yu, they would keep their guard up against Qiao Yue. It was just that until now, they still hadn’t found out why Qiao Yue was hiding his identity.

Wu Chen thought that Qiao Xuan had more to say, but when he looked over, Qiao Xuan had already fallen asleep on the chair.
