Chapter 49 - Genuine Concern

Qiao Yue didn’t hear Qiao Jing say anything until she left, and she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

“Eh? Xiao Yue? You’re back?”

As soon as Qiao Yue descended the stairs, she ran into Qiao Ze and Qiao Yu who had just returned home.

“Third brother, fourth brother.”

Qiao Yue greeted them and was about to go back upstairs when Qiao Ze rushed up the stairs and put his arm around her shoulders. “Where did you go today? Why didn’t you tell Qiao Jing? He called us so early in the morning.”

First, Qiao Yue’s face turned pale when Qiao Ze touched her wound. And when she heard Qiao Ze say that Qiao Jing had called him to find out her whereabouts, she felt her temples throb.

“Third brother, did second brother call you too?” Qiao Yue endured the pain and spoke as calmly as she could.

“Yes. Not only did he call me, but he also called Xiao Yu. It’s the first time I’ve seen him so anxious. Xiao Yue, tell me, did you do something to let the stoic face down? And that’s why he’s looking for you all over?”

Qiao Yue’s face darkened, and she removed Qiao Ze’s hand from her shoulders.

“What could I have done? Second brother was looking for me only because he’s worried about me.”

Although she had heard from the assistant that Qiao Jing had been looking for her everywhere, she didn’t expect him to go to this extent. If he was worried that she would cause trouble for the Qiao family, he would have been more than happy that she was gone.

Qiao Yue was still thinking when Qiao Ze unexpectedly put his hand around her shoulders again, hurting her causing her pain yet again.

“Xiao Yue, don’t talk nonsense in broad daylight. What else would he be worried about other than his own interests?” Qiao Ze said in disdain.

Qiao Yue turned to look at Qiao Ze. Since she first met Qiao Ze, he had been very hostile to Qiao Jing. She didn’t know why there was such deep hatred between these two brothers.

Qiao Yue was still wondering about this when the weight on her shoulder suddenly lightened.

“Brother, don’t crush him.”

Qiao Yu couldn’t be blamed for saying that. Qiao Yue’s height of 173 cm was considered tall among girls, but it was nothing among boys. Especially in a family like the Qiao family, where the average height of the male members was above 185 cm. She looked very petite next to the Qiao men.

Qiao Yue heaved a sigh of relief after being rescued by Qiao Yu. She wasn’t used to being held so close to someone all of a sudden.

Qiao Ze rolled his eyes unhappily at Qiao Yu. He had quite a few younger siblings, but other than Qiao Yue, he had no one else to hug. But he was stopped by his own younger brother.

“So, Xiao Yue, where did you go today? We couldn’t find you anywhere.” Qiao Ze asked again.

“Nowhere in particular. I just went out with my friend.” Qiao Yue cited the same reason as before.

Qiao Ze was surprised. “Xiao Yue, you have friends here? That’s strange. Introduce us one of these days.”

“Yes, sure. When we have time.”

Qiao Yue really didn’t want to continue giving Qiao Ze perfunctory answers, but when she turned her head, she saw Qiao Yu’s inquisitive eyes. Obviously, he, like Qiao Jing, wouldn’t be easily deceived by her.

Qiao Yue thought to herself that among the Qiao brothers, Qiao Ze was the most attractive. His dreamy eyes made him look like a handsome devil who had descended on earth. But she soon realized that he was the one who lived the simplest life and did not worry much.

Qiao Ze’s tone changed as he changed the subject, “Xiao Yue, are you going back to your room to do something?”

Qiao Yue thought for a moment. Stone and the rest of the team were more or less injured in this operation, and Trand’s side probably wouldn’t make another move so soon. There shouldn’t be any incidents tonight, so she shook her head.

“That’s good. If you are free, come watch my latest movie with me tonight.”

As soon as Qiao Ze opened his mouth, Qiao Yue wanted to retract her earlier answer. She could count with one hand the number of times she had watched a movie in her 18 years. It wasn’t that she didn’t watch movies on purposes. Firstly, she didn’t have the time. Secondly, some movies had really stupid plots.

She remembered that once, Chu Jia dragged her to watch a new year blockbuster starring her most recent favorite star, in the name of showing support.

And what was the result? Qiao Yue slept through the movie, and Chu Jia turned from a fan to a hater after the movie, which also made her afraid.

However, before Qiao Yue could refuse, Qiao Ze turned to look at Qiao Yu.

“You too, don’t even think about running.”

Qiao Ze’s timing was impeccable, saying this just as Qiao Yu was about to slip away.
