In a hostile tone of voice, Lin Yunzhi said, “She isn’t part of the Qin Family yet. We’re not even sure if she could even marry into the Qin Family.”

“Secretary Lin, you are not to talk bad about her baby.” Gu Xi softly sighed. “After all, that baby is innocent.”

Lin Yunzhi glared at her. “Do I seem like that kind of person?”

Gu Xi smiled. “Of course not!”

She sighed. “Yunzhi, let’s just stay like this forever. We shall be good to each other and never leave each other.”

Lin Yunzhi couldn’t stand her mushiness and placed the document on Gu Xi’s desk. “Manager Gu, it’s still working hours. Moreover, I am not interested in girls. You can be with whoever you want, although I still think that you have approached the wrong person…”

Gu Xi harrumphed. “Can’t I be affectionate for once?”

Lin Yunzhi wickedly said, “That’s because you got agitated upon the mention of someone’s name.”

Gu Xi glared at her. “Secretary Lin, didn’t you come in to discuss some official matters with me?”

Lin Yunzhi shrugged her shoulders. “Thank goodness you have not forgotten about that!”

She pointed at the document. “Our previous human resource manager just started working at Pin Guan, and she already did some great achievements. Just take a look at these customers, don’t you find them very familiar?”

Gu Xi obviously recognized them, they used to be their customers. After Tang Xinru left, she probably stole some of their customers away as well.

Upon seeing that Gu Xi was in deep thought, Lin Yunzhi pursed her lips. “Gu Xi, you can sue her.”

Gu Xi looked at the document and smiled. “Let’s make things difficult for Uncle Qin. Besides, if I were to sue her now, the media would definitely make something out of it.”

Lin Yunzhi carefully looked at Gu Xi before she softly stated, “Gu Xi, this means that you still care for him, hence why you are so concerned about how people would think about you. If you have really forgotten him, you probably would not even care if she was pregnant or not, nor would you care about Qin Song. You would probably even sue her without hesitation until she ends up in jail.”

Gu Xi looked at her and gave a weak smile. “Yunzhi, why do you understand me so well?”

Lin Yunzhi said in a harsh tone of voice, “Well, I prefer to think that my guesses were wrong.”

“Alright, let’s talk about Pin Guan.” Gu Xi did not wish to talk about this further and started a new topic.

Lin Yunzhi gave her a glare, but she still decided to let her off. She said, “It was Tang Xinru who orchestrated their partnership. It seems that she is using her identity as a customer to put a strain on you.”

“She is probably desperately trying to prove herself because Qin Mo isn’t giving her the love and attention she wanted.” Gu Xi gave a light chuckle and closed the document. Looking at Lin Yunzhi, she said, “I don’t care about her. If Pin Guan wants to collaborate with us, they need to show some sincerity. After all, the Gu Group is not a tomato which they can crush and squeeze whenever they like. Then again, if the terms and conditions are suitable, we can collaborate with them.”

Lin Yunzhi casually pinched her cheeks. “It’s great to see that your brain is still working.”

Gu Xi swatted her hand away and her facial expression darkened. “Secretary Lin, please mind your image. It’s still working hours!”

Secretary Lin immediately stood upright with her legs standing slightly apart from each other, making her look rather playful and cynical when doing so.

Gu Xi lowered her head to look at the document. “If there’s nothing else, you can leave now.”

Secretary Lin said with a calm expression, “I forgot to tell you that Tang Xinru invited you to go to the Firework Restaurant to discuss the partnership tomorrow at eight p.m. Mo Shaoting will also be there.”

Without raising her head, Gu Xi asked, “Why can’t we just discuss it in his or my company?”

Lin Yunzhi smiled. “May I remind you which company you’re going to have a discussion with? Would you rather go over to Pin Guan? Or have Mao Shaoting come over to the Gu Group?”

As a matter of fact, the Gu Group and Pin Guan never got along well. The elders from both families definitely do not wish to see their grandchildren stepping into each other’s companies.

Hence, even if they wanted to collaborate with one another, they must not let their elders know about it.

The least they could do was to keep it in the dark until they had officially signed the contract.

Gu Xi pondered for a moment before she solemnly asked, “Yunzhi, don’t you think that this is too sudden?”

“Tang Xinru probably resorted to using these methods to have a stable footing in the Qin Family. How could she possibly make Mo Shaoting think highly of her if she had no achievements? Without a notable place in Pin Guan, how long could she possibly stay as Mrs. Qin in the Qin Family?” Upon hearing that, Lin Yunzhi gave a cruel yet realistic answer. “Gu Xi, not everyone has the capabilities to marry into a rich family. Even if they did manage to do so, the treatment wouldn’t be the same.”

Gu Xi threw the document towards her. “There you go again. Next time, I’ll ask grandpa to marry you off into a rich family and not allow you to work… When that time comes, I will see whether you can live peacefully or not.”

Upon hearing that, tears welled up in her eyes and she said in a meek tone of voice, “Gu Xi, don’t do this to me! Don’t tell… the Old Master that! Otherwise, I would rather leave the Gu Family!”

Upon seeing that Lin Yunzhi had really taken her words seriously, she could not help but gently say, “Alright, I won’t tell him.”

“Right, you will come with me tomorrow evening,” said Gu Xi casually.

Lin Yunzhi gave an apologetic smile. “I’ve got something important to do tomorrow. Gu Xi, how about you ask Ke Er to go with you?”

Gu Xi pondered for a while and agreed.

She felt a little guilty. She actually forgot that tomorrow was an important day for Lin Yunzhi.

Lin Yunzhi did not seem as bright as earlier on, and she had lowered her head. “In that case, I will get going first. I will be back by evening on the following day.”

Gu Xi stood up and held Lin Yunzhi’s hand before gently hugging her. “Yunzhi, you must come back…”

Lin Yunzhi pursed her lips. “I will!”

She smiled. “Nothing would happen to me… It’s been so long! I have already forgotten what should have been forgotten.”

However, Gu Xi refused to believe her… Yunzhi. Was she planning to live in self-misery for the rest of her life?

Lin Yunzhi patted her back. “Gu Xi, you know me well. I won’t do anything foolish!”

Gu Xi broke into a smile. “I believe you. I will wait for you to come back so we can go on a blind date together.”

Both of them looked at each other and smiled.

Gu Xi felt rather surprised that she did not receive a call from Pei Qian before she knocked off. But then again, it was a good thing.

It was good enough that she could rest for one night!

By nightfall, she played some relaxing music while she sat in her condominium apartment. She even read the book she had been wanting to read for a long time. Just silently spending the night alone, she felt very comfortable… she would even daydream from time to time…

In the end, she sadly recalled Qin Mo three times; however, she recalled that bastard Pei Qian at least ten times…

Both of them did not seem to be a good thing!

Gu Xi shook her head as she ordered herself to stop thinking about them…

Just like that, she fell asleep on the sofa. However, she woke up in the middle of the night because her stomach rumbled to remind her that she has yet to eat her dinner.

She casually cooked some noodles to eat. Although the taste was not very good, she decided to make do with it and she indeed got better.

The next morning, Ke Er took over Lin Yunzhi’s job and reported Gu Xi’s schedule to her. Upon hearing Ke Er reporting about her meeting with Pin Guan at eight p.m., Gu Xi could not help but feel a little uncomfortable.

She was not sure if Tang Xinru would purposely bring Qin Mo along…
