Chapter 244 - Trouble is here!!

After the sumptuous dinner, Xu Nuan stretched her hands lazily and plopped on the couch. She took a cushion and put it on her l.a.p before turning on the television. 

Han Zihao, who walked into the living room after washing his hands in the bathroom, saw her watching the television intriguingly.  She was leaning forward and had her eyes stick to the screen. 

He took a seat beside her and asked, " What are you watching with such interest?"

" Ah, it's a drama about childhood sweethearts getting married later," she said nonchalantly without even giving him a look.

Upon hearing her words, his lips curled in a smile as he said," Oh, So it's just like us." 

Rather than feeling giddy, she shot him a glare and asked in confusion, " Ah?" 

Seeing her puzzled look, he was a little disappointed. Was it that surprising? 

" In a sense, aren't we childhood sweethearts too? Then it's a story similar to ours." He said, watching her expressions carefully. Does she doesn't want to see her future with him? Or is it...too early to think about those things?

Is he the only one, who is thinking about this relationship seriously with the future in mind? Or...is it because he is older than her that he can't help but think about those things?

However, her next words put a halt to his flying assumptions," Do you seriously want to compare us to this drama? Because it's a mystery and thriller drama. This drama is based on the murder mystery of his wife." she said nonchalantly while looking at him with a questionable gaze.

He pursed his lips as he was speechless of what to say. What kind of plot is this? And why didn't she tell him the main plot before?

He cleared his throat and laughed nervously, " Haha, what a strange plot. Who watches these kinds of dramas these days?"

" It's the most popular drama these days. It was the second season of this drama in which they're going to reveal that the wife isn't dead. She survived and will return to take her revenge." She said with a bright glint in her eyes, which was making him uncomfortable.

" Ha..Ha...what an..interesting plot." He said half-heartedly. Why is she so into crime-thriller dramas these days?

Shouldn't people watch more romance and light-hearted dramas and movies when they're dating? It's so scary to think about cheating and murder when they just started dating. 

What if she started thinking wrong of him because of the influence of these dramas?

"Well, then it's not similar to us. I..can't cheat on you with my secretary because I have a male secretary you know." He laughed, telling her to not worry about him.

However, rather than looking relieved, she looked at him with a straight face and said, " So what? Cheating with a male secretary is also considered cheating. I don't judge people for their choices."

He was confused. What is the meaning of her words?

However, before he could say anything, she waved her hand and turned to watch the drama, " We're not similar to this plot indeed."

Seeing his stunned expressions, Xu Nuan pursed her lips and tried to control her laugh. How can he be so cute?

Grandmother Gu, who was sitting in the living room and was sipping on her tea looked up at the servant, who came running to inform her about Xu Nuan's arrival. 

" What? Why is she here, again? Can't she just let us live in peace?" She frowned. Lin Ran, who was also sitting on the adjacent couch to her, got worried about thinking what new trouble this girl brought for them. 

Even after leaving the Gu Mansion, she doesn't let them stay in peace. Be it in any familial banquet or gathering, she keeps stirring troubles for them. 

Gu Zhang, who just entered the living room, also heard the servant's words and his expressions turned gloomy thinking about why she is here. Didn't she say that she doesn't want to have any relationship with them?

The last time when he called her to congratulate her on her admission to the Xin Liu university, she disregarded his good wishes and told him to not call her again. Then, why is she here?

When Xu Nuan entered the Gu Mansion, she noticed that everyone was waiting for her in the living room. Even Xingren was also sitting beside Grandmother Gu and was holding onto her arm.

" Xu Nuan, Why are you standing there? Come inside. Did you have breakfast? What do you want to eat?" Grandfather Gu asks as he urges her to come inside and sit close to him. 

Seeing him giving attention to her like this, other family members were not pleased. Xu Nuan didn't even greet them and acknowledged their presence. How can she disrespect her elders like this? 

" This old man, I can't seem to understand why he gives her so much attention. This brat doesn't deserve this at all." Grandmother Gu grumbled under her breath, upon seeing how Xu Nuan ignored her and went to the old man. 

This girl doesn't deserve all this love and care. 

Grandfather Gu heard his wife's grumbling words and shot her a glare which shut her mouth. However, she was still sullen at the fact that Xu Nuan is more important to him than her.

" Xu Nuan, did something happen? How come you're here early in the morning?" Old Man asked while passing her a glass of fresh orange juice. Since she denied having anything, he asked the kitchen staff to prepare fresh juice for her to drink. 

Xu Nuan glanced at Xingren, who hid her face behind Grandmother Gu and said, " I have something to discuss with Mr. Gu. Is that be fine with you, Mr. Gu?" 

Lin Ran frowned seeing her addressing Gu Zhang like this and nagged her, " Xu Nuan, what kind of behavior is this? He is your father, how can you address him like this?"

" Lin Ran, leave it. What can you expect from a girl, who has grown up in an orphanage? She doesn't even consider us as her family. It's better this way. We don't want to have any relationship with her either." Grandmother Gu added. 

She can't acknowledge a girl as her granddaughter, who insults her and talks back to her. 

Xu Nuan smiled and said, " Grandmother Gu is right. Since I grew up in the orphanage for half of my life, how can I acknowledge strangers as my family? Even though it wasn't my fault and the blood running in my body is from Gu's, how does that even matter?"

" You will believe what you want and I know, you will never acknowledge me as your family. So why do I have to address you with such meaningless titles?"

" Xu Nuan…" Grandfather Gu pursed his lips upon hearing words. Her words were like a dagger on his heart. He can't believe that Xu Nuan thinks like this and the sad part was...he can't even refute her words. 

His family is so disillusioned, that they're throwing away a part of their family and embracing the stranger. After seeing Xingen's shady colors, he can't seem to feel any affection for her like he used to have back then.

But his family is still living in a world full of lies. 

Xingren, who was quiet all along, got anxious about what she was going to say to Gu Zhang and jumped in, " Sister, what do you want to say to father? Just say it here. We're family after all." 

If Xu Nuan says anything against her in front of Grandmother Gu, she will deal with it and will scold Xu Nuan in return. 

Xingren's smile bothered Xu Nuan and she couldn't hide her frown. Her smile was innocent and she looked like a nervous kid in front of her. However, the real Xingren, only she knows. She is not innocent as a child but as crazy as a psychopath. 

Xu Nuan smiled and stared at her with incomprehensible expressions, " You...sure want me to talk here?"
