346 Terrible Headache

Lin Nuan remained silent. She picked up her bag and left.

Lu Jinnan looked at Lin Nuan's slender back view as she left. He let out a puff of smoke before extinguishing the cigarette.

He wasn't worried that Lin Nuan would complain to Fu Huai'an. After all… these words were what Lu Jinnan had been wanting to say to Fu Huai'an!

But if it were him telling Fu Huai'an, that guy would probably not even hear a single word.

He leaned back against the comfortable couch relaxedly…

Lin Nuan stood at one end of the zebra crossing, waiting for the light to change with her umbrella overhead.

The sounds of the heavy raindrops drumming against her umbrella were loud and intense. She lowered her gaze to see two small and fast streams of water flowing down the slight slope of the road towards the drains, and she zoned out.

Lu Jinnan said that Fu Huai'an was with her because she was similar to Lu Xiangsi—Lin Nuan didn't believe in those words.

But Lin Nuan couldn't help thinking of last night, when she asked Fu Huai'an what he desired about her.

He had said that… he desired for Lin Nuan to love him as much as she loved Wen Moshen!

Lin Nuan knew in her heart that for Fu Huai'an… she was of no help to him.

Lin Nuan was no longer a teenager; she was past the age to believe that love was enough.

In reality, love wasn't enough for marriage.

Married couples are more like companions who can move forward together and are most loyal to each other. They are partners who can fight together.

She tightened her grip on the handle of the umbrella.

Lu Jinnan had already lessened the harshness of his words. He should've admitted that apart from her young age, Lin Nuan wasn't good enough for Fu Huai'an in any other way.

The light changed, and Lin Nuan crossed the road along with the crowd.

Lin Nuan returned to her own apartment and changed her clothes after taking a shower.

Sitting in front of the tall window, she wiped her hair with a towel as she stared at Haicheng, which was covered in rain, her heart feeling lost.

She gripped the towel and stared at her own reflection in the glass… She didn't look bad.

Her slender fingers caressed the glass as she traced out her own features with furrowed brows.

Since she had already married Fu Huai'an, she shouldn't retreat just because of outsiders' words.

She already wasn't good enough for Fu Huai'an; if she lost even her perseverance for their marriage, she would then truly be left with only her youth, which would fade over time.

With her hair still damp, Lin Nuan leaned against the window tiredly and fell asleep.

Lin Nuan was in a heavy sleep and missed lunch before she got woken up by her phone at 3:30 p.m.

Seeing that it was Fu Huai'an calling, she rubbed at her throbbing temples while noting how cold her body felt. Picking up the phone, she said, "Hey…"

Maybe it was because she just woke up, but Lin Nuan's voice sounded nasal.

"You were still sleeping?" asked Fu Huai'an.

"En!" said Lin Nuan as she touched her already dry hair. "The rain was too heavy, so I got soaked. I returned to my apartment to take a shower, and I was probably too tired, so I just fell asleep."

"Sleep a while more if you're tired, I'll fetch you at 7 p.m. It'll be a little late, so it's better if you eat something to fill your stomach first."

Fu Huai'an instructed over the phone, and suddenly Lin Nuan heard the sound of his assistant calling him.

Not wanting to interrupt him working, Lin Nuan said, "I understand, go settle your work first!"

After hanging up, Lin Nuan's temples still throbbed hard. She looked out the window to see that the rain had yet to stop. She was having a terrible headache, and even her throat hurt…

Lying back on the bed, her brain was filled with Lu Jinnan's words. She turned around but couldn't fall asleep, only finding her breaths growing hotter.
