Chapter 138: The Burning Tower. 2001 CE

[September 11, 2001]

Pluto was now driving through the streets of Manhattan as Thena was just discharged from the hospital after a long observation of her body. Helios’s birth made her weak, it’s as if her cosmic and life energy had been consumed by the boy, but thankfully, she recovered, and they were now going home, well, not really, they were going to Central Park first, to catch some air after almost a month of quarantine..

Thena was feeding Helios in the front seat, as he just cried a couple minutes ago, begging for Thena to feed him. “You think Sprite’s going to be okay?”

“She’s going to school in London, there’s no way it couldn’t be worse.” Pluto rolled his eyes. “Besides, maybe she’ll get a letter from Hogwarts, and she’ll skip formal education of the muggles.”

Thena shook her head in amusement. “Spare me the pop-culture references darling.”

Pluto chuckled as the car kept going through the streets. He massaged his nose bridge, the crying every night is not pleasant for Pluto, and the business of a parent will take a while to get used to.

But then, he saw a plane flying above Manhattan, and he frowned as he calculated the direction the plane was going.

“Wait, what date is it today?” Pluto questioned suddenly.

“September 11th, why?”

“Shit.” Pluto cursed as he abruptly stopped his car, making the cars from his back shout profanities at them.

“What are you doing?” Thena questioned curiously.

But before Pluto could answer, the plane that was traversing the skies of Manhattan suddenly rammed to the World Trade centre, exploding the building for all the people could see.

“Holy Shit!” Pluto could hear many people screamed as they saw the plane crashes to the north tower. People were getting out of their cars, horns started to echoed throughout the street, and panic slowly ensued.

“What the hell happened?” Thena questioned anxiously as she looked at the burning tower above. “An accident?”

“That is no accident.” Pluto murmured, he took his phone, and dialled a number from there. Not a second later, his butler picked up. “Yes master?”

“Benson, are you seeing this?” Pluto asked.

“The burning tower in the middle of the city? Yes master.”

“Okay, you need to pick up Theo and Angie right now, I’ll go there, we’re near the tower.”

“Wait, what are you doing?” Thena frowned.

“Certainly master, be careful.”

Pluto hung up as he put his phone to his pocket. He got out of the car, and looked at the burning tower above.

“Hey! Get inside!” Thena shouted from inside the car.

Pluto just crouched down to the window, and said. “Thena, love, stay here, I’m going to try to do something.”

“What are you going to do?” Thena questioned as Theo started to cry.

Pluto’s eyes turned golden as he kept staring at Theo. “I’ll let them do the work.”

Thena nodded as she cooed Theo. “Okay, just stay safe.”

Pluto nodded as many golden constructs suddenly appeared in the alleyway of New York. they were all winged, and had invisibility genes in them.

“Right, save as many as you can.” Pluto murmured to the constructs as he walked closer and closer to the tower, passing many people.

““Your wish is our command, master.””

The golden constructs then dashed to the skies above, activating invisibility as they were in the line of sight of people. They quickly flew to the burning towers, saving the ones who tried to jump from the tower, and breaking the windows, searching for survivors.

“Look! They’re floating!” shouted someone as he saw one of the men was saved from jumping, slowly floating to the ground below.

Pluto hummed as he walked closer, he took out his phone once again, and called the CEO of his company.

“Yes, Mr. Smith?” the CEO questioned.

“Evacuate the building.” Pluto said quickly. “Tell the Research and Medical division to bring only the important research outside, do it in order, do not, I repeat, do not do it quickly, if some of those virus samples dropped, New York’s going to be devastated.”

“What’s going on Mr. Smith?” the CEO questioned nervously.

“Look outside, dimwit.” Pluto snorted. “One of the twin towers is burning, a terrorist attack from the looks of it, there’s no way it’s an accident.”

The CEO gulped. “Very well Mr. Smith, I’ll do it quickly.”

Pluto hummed as he hung up the phone, he kept walking to the tower, and at this point, plenty of people had been saved, at least the ones who tried to jump anyway.

Then, Pluto saw a second plane rushing to the South Tower. Pluto frowned, and his eyes turned blue. Spatial pressure began to envelope the plane above, and as soon as it neared the tower, it moved away from it, barely touching the tower.

Many people gasped as they saw the plane coming closer, but sighed in relief when it turned around.

Pluto kept concentrating on the plane, bringing it to the nearest airport so SHIELD or FBI could handle it.

He stood for a couple minutes in the middle of the street, guiding the plane.

A bald black man with an eyepatch was standing on guard in front of the twin towers as it was burning. He took his communication device, and spoke to it.

“Report,” he said.

“Many people have been saved by an unknown force, director.”

“Unknown force?”

“They just… floating to the ground…”

“Motherfucker, do you think I couldn’t see it?” Fury said as he saw the men floated onto the ground safely. “I’m asking you what unknown force is it?”

“We’re working on it, director.”

“Then work faster!” Fury said in a matter-of-fact tone. He massaged his forehead, tired of all this shit.

“Director, we just got a report that the Pentagon has been hit, and that plane that wanted to hit the south tower had landed safely in JFK, the FBI is dealing with it now.”

“You wanna know what I think, agent? A plane like that couldn’t possibly turn around that quickly.” Spoke Fury. “I bet that ‘unknown force’ you’re talking about is also the culprit, find out about it.”

“Sir, yes, sir.”

After almost two hours of burning, the north tower finally collapsed. Pluto, instead of reaching safety, kept walking to it. The wave of dust quickly dash through the streets, dirtying and damaging countless properties the whole way.

“Mr. Smith!” a cop shouted. “Mr. Smith, you shouldn’t be here! We need to get you out of here.”

“Thank you for your concern sir, but I think I’m alright.” Pluto insisted, not looking at the cop. The cop however kept trying to talk him out of it, and quickly, the wave of dust hit them both, making the cop fall from the force.

“You okay Sir?” Pluto asked, helping the cop to stand up and cleaning his shirt. As the cop stood up, Pluto kept walking, he saw his constructs looking for more survivors in the foggy area of the rubble, and as he arrived at the place, he saw some of the cops were already there, also trying to find survivors.

“Mr. Smith? What are you doing here?” another cop questioned, this time a higher rank from the previous one.

“Captain Stacy.” Pluto nodded, but he ignored him, and walked to the rubble. He gazed at the destroyed building and his frantic constructs. He clenched his fist, and sighed at the sight.
