Chapter 814 - Confrontation

“Right. Enough chit-chatting! It’s auction time!” Jiang Fei exclaimed as he held the pet egg up high in the air. The Chromatic pet egg was not as powerful as everyone thought it was. However, it was still a pure-blood dragon! It could grow up to become a powerful Black Dragon Lord. Hence, even though its price was lower than Seven Star Warrior’s Bloodstained Light Dragon, it was still better than bipedal Draconians Guards or Drakes.

“480!” said the ever-silent Hazy Memory.

“What the f*ck? Are you trying to throw everything you have?” Anew Returner barked disgruntledly.

“Mhm. Unlike certain people, I can’t earn as many contribution points. I’m considered lucky to have accumulated so many so far. I can’t afford to earn enough to trade for Magic Crystals. This Chromatic tier pet is suitable for people like me,” said Hazy Memory, hiding his smile behind his mask.

“Anyone else has a better offer?” said Jiang Fei.

“Sh*t, how are we going to top that?”

“I don’t even have 481 points…”

“Damn you!”

Right after Hazy Memory’s offer, everyone started to throw insults although they did not mean to do so. Even Hazy Memory was not offended as he understood that they were merely empty threats that were just an expression of their frustration and in a certain way, praising him for being able to offer everything he had. To be fair, offering 480 contribution points was too much. Not even Lady Casanova or Seven Star Warrior offered that many points. There was no one in the party that could rival him at this point. Even if there were, they would not want to waste their points now since they were expecting more at tomorrow’s raid in the Golden Dragon Lair.

After the Black Dragon Lord was given to Hazy Memory, the party exited the dungeon and went about with their own businesses.

Jiang Fei headed back to the Demon Dragon Fortress and spent the rest of the time in the game with the girls. When the time was 6am, Jiang Fei was kicked out of the game and back into reality.

When he opened his eyes, the sun had risen, shining its golden rays across the land of the rising sun. As soon as he was awake, the thought of having to fight in Japan made him frown worriedly.

They had been in Japan for close to a week yet China had yet to send their military reinforcement to help them. At this point, Jiang Fei was filled with doubt and suspicion.

“This cannot be…” Jiang Fei muttered to himself. The thought of China’s military wanting the end of both the Mutants and the martial artists had crossed his mind. However, that was not his main concern. His concerns lie with the Androids of China. He had thought about it and concluded that Androids were not a strong force to be reckoned with. If the martial artists fall, they would not be a good deterrent against the Mutants.

“Tch. I need to do something!”

Whether the military was purposely delaying their support or not, once they had deemed themselves strong enough to not rely on the martial artists, they might actually not send any support at all.

“Ariel, I need you to follow me,” said Jiang Fei.

“Yes, brother,” Ariel replied instantly and followed him without a question. There was no reason to, she would gladly follow Jiang Fei even if it meant knocking on death’s door.

“Brother Jiang Fei, where are you going?” Bai Wanli called out when he had felt a sudden movement in the cave.

“I need to go out for a bit to check for the time of arrival of our reinforcements.” Jiang Fei told the truth.

“Are you going alone? Wouldn’t it be dangerous? What would you do if you met the Mutants?”

“That’s not a problem. I am much faster alone and if I encounter the enemy, I can outrun them easily. On the other hand, I need you to take care of the sisters,” said Jiang Fei.

“No problem. I will make sure the boys shall not touch them,” said Zhu Tianfei as he walked towards Jiang Fei. They had been working together for some time now and the boys of the group had been trying their best to talk to the girls. However, every girl that Jiang Fei had brought in from the game was loyal to Jiang Fei. As a result, whenever the boys tried to make a move on them, the girls would shrug them off as if they were dirt.

“Thanks,” said Jiang Fei, turning away quickly before talking to Hong Yu.

“Brother, are you going out?” she said, comfortable with the new manner of addressing Jiang Fei.

“Mhm. Please stay here for the time being. If there’s an enemy attack, use this to contact me,” said Jiang Fei, handing out an earpiece to Hong Yu.

“Very well,” said Hong Yu, accepting the earpiece with both her hands as she took the chance to cup Jiang Fei’s.

“Heh,” Jiang Fei scoffed before retracting his hands away.

“Ariel, we don’t have much time. Let’s leave right away,” said Jiang Fei.

“Sure thing,” Ariel answered and left the cave with Jiang Fei. The two left the cave and up to a hill where Jiang Fei made sure to check any signs of other people before asking 0541 to put up a camouflage barrier.

“Let’s head back!”

“Where?”

“The military base where we took the submarine,” said Jiang Fei. Jiang Fei felt the need to talk to the military officials. He wanted to know why reinforcements had not been sent to Japan.

“Yes, dearest!” cried Ariel since there were no one around. She reached out her arms and hugged Jiang Fei into her chest before teleporting away.

One second later, the two appeared in a forest, not far from where the harbor was.

“We’ll walk in like this,” said Jiang Fei, leading the way into the base with no intention to hide his presence. As soon as he approached the entry gate, a guard came up to him with guns held up.

“Who are you? This is a secret government military base! Identify yourself!”

“I want to talk to Major General Qin Tian!” said Jiang Fei, with his nose held up high.

“Identify yourself!” the guard roared.

“Jiang Fei of China’s Martial Artist Alliance!”

“A martial artist?! Hold on!” said the guard as he held up his communicator to talk to someone of higher authority.

“What? Jiang Fei? Isn’t he supposed to be in Japan? How did… When did he get back?” Qin Tian barked, sweating with fear when he looked at Jiang Fei through the camera feed.

“Bring in him!” said Qin Tian.

It mattered not how Jiang Fei reached China since he should not have been here in the first place!

Jiang Fei and Ariel were both escorted into a building to met with Qin Tian.

“Mr. Jiang. Aren’t you supposed to be in Japan? How did you come back?” Qin Tian asked, shaking Jiang Fei’s hand nervously.

“That is not important. What’s important is why aren’t we receiving any reinforcements from you!” Jiang Fei bellowed angrily.

“Ehrm… Well… We have some problems…”

“Problem? What problem?”

“I… can’t say. I’m not authorized to…” said Qin Tian, frowning.

“Where is Han Tianyu? I want to talk to him!” Jiang Fei demanded. If there were things that even Qin Tian could not tell him, Han Tianyu was the only man could.
