1039 One Million Gold

Everyone hadn't met the Dragon Race before so they didn't know about their abilities to turn into human form. Therefore, nobody discussed how they were able to reproduce with other humans.

The Dragon Race was an exceptionally powerful race in which humans couldn't do anything about them committing a crime and then escaping.

Following the Dragon Race's carefree lifestyle of stirring up havoc, the number of half dragon humans increased in quantity as they slowly grew into a community and soon, a race of its own.

These fellas with mixed human and dragon blood possessed the intelligence of humans and the superior strength of dragons which made them a powerful race.

Even so, the mainland in <<REBIRTH>> believed in the power of religion. Whether it was the Light Faction or the Dark Faction with the exception of the Neutral Faction, they never allowed people with exceptional power and strength to exist among them. Therefore, they always did their best to repel people like the half dragon humans.

Because of how mighty and noble the Dragon Race was, they were naturally not going to accept these mixed-blood fellas too. Therefore, these half dragon humans were basically a race pushed to the side.

Because these half dragon humans possessed the bloodline of the Dragon Race, they naturally had the superior advantage in terms of strength. With more and more half dragon humans around and the revelation of their greedy nature, these half dragon humans became even harder to control than before. In order to control these half dragon humans, the Light Faction Church and Dark Faction Parliament found Heavenly Dragon.

As the well-known figure among the half dragon humans and a person with the bloodline of the Black Dragon, Heavenly Dragon was definitely the leader of the younger generation of the Dragon Race.

The two big factions were aware that the Dragon Human Race simply wanted to live peacefully which was what they promised him.

Heavenly Dragon, who had always wanted approval, used the Dragon Human Race's gold to build a palace to bring the Holy Dragon Emperor into it. In the end, he managed to seal Dales beneath the Dragon Island with the help of both the God of Light as well as the leader of the Dark Faction. After this, the Sky Dragon City trapped the Dragon Island by its side forever.

With the Dragon Race imprisoned in a massive prison like the Dragon Island, the City Lord, Heavenly Dragon, was merely acting as the warden.

The Dragon Human Race stopped growing in size after the imprisonment of the Dragon Race by Heavenly Dragon. The original Dragon Humans were cleansed by both the factions and were only left with a few survivors who kept an extremely low-profile to prevent being banished off the surface of the world.

Everyone knew what would happen next.

When players reached Level 100, they would receive a hidden quest called "The Truth". After Heavenly Dragon found out about being duped, he would turn into a traitor to massacre everyone in the city.

Of course, because of a random fella like Wang Yu, these quests would have to be removed and turned into a background story.

Therefore, this biggest update besides the change in background story was the addition of a hidden race called the Dragon Human Race.

There was no need to talk about their superior strength due to their Dragon Race Bloodline anymore. Additionally, the Dragon Race was also an extremely intelligent race with an IQ off the charts. Therefore, this new race was evidently a race with attributes superior to all the other races. Otherwise, there was no need to have them as some kind of hidden race at all.

As to how one could attain the identity of the Dragon Human Race, the system simply gave one notification. One couldn't be from the Light Faction or the Dark Faction which meant that one had to be from the Neutral Faction.

This point was reasonable because both the Light Faction and Dark Faction caused so much trouble for them so it wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Other than the introduction of the new Dragon Human Race, there weren't many other updates. Wang Yu skimmed through the rest of the web before putting on his headset to enter the game.

After entering the game, Wang Yu reappeared back in Sky Dragon City.

The time in the game was different from real life. Even though one week had passed in real life, the game still looked the same as when Wang Yu logged off.

At this moment, the Sky Dragon City had just been slaughtered by Heavenly Dragon and the architecture of the city were almost completely destroyed.

All the players from the Sky Dragon City were hanging their heads dispiritedly.

There was no way anybody could remain happy after everything that had happened to their home.

However, there was one person who felt even more dejected than these players from Sky Dragon City. That one person was naturally Wang Yu.

This was because after getting online, Wang Yu received a system notification.

<System Notification: Your main city has been severely destroyed and in need of reparations. Reparation cost is 1,000,000 gold.>

Duration of reparation: 3 days.

"…"

Wang Yu was filled with tears after seeing the system notification.

To Ignorant fellas who always cried about wanting to become the City Lord, they simply thought that the City Lord was merely in charge of collecting taxes from the people of the Sky Dragon City.

What they didn't know was the downside of being a City Lord. When something like this happens, Wang Yu doesn't see anybody wanting to share the cost of the reparations.

One million gold was not something ordinary people could afford.

Of course, everyone from Quan Zhen Sect managed to earn quite a sum of money from the cape fragments. Hence, it wasn't as though Wang Yu couldn't afford to fork out one million gold.

However, even if Wang Yu could afford it, it was probably enough to make him broke again.

Like the rest of the fellas from Quan Zhen Sect, one couldn't say that Wang Yu was an unambitious person. However, his ambition was simply not to do such things.

This was merely a broken city so he had no idea whether it was worth forking out so much money to repair it. Even if it was worth it, Wang Yu was naturally not going to spend his entire life fortune on something he wasn't interested in.

The system was never going to bother whether the player was willing or not or whether players felt it was reasonable. If the system wanted one million gold, they were not going to accept anything less.

Even if Wang Yu refused to click on anything, it seemed likely that the system would forcefully deduct the money from Wang Yu's account.

Don't meddle in affairs that are not part of your position, right? Since he was the City Lord, he naturally had to accept this responsibility.

Wang Yu was not a saint and even though he wasn't too concerned about money, he still felt unhappy that the system tricked him like that.

"Depressing!!"

When Wang Yu realised that he was going to be liberated by the system, he couldn't help but cry out in the channel.

"F*ck! Old Bull, why are you going crazy?"

Seeing how Wang Yu was acting, the fellas were shocked.

Ever since they knew Wang Yu, they had never seen Wang Yu stressed out or depressed over anything. Even when he faced an existence like the Holy Dragon Emperor, he wouldn't be too concerned. What on earth happened to a frightening fella like him that he had to cry out in the guild channel?

Wang Yu shouted, "I've been tricked and scammed!!"

"Who is daring enough to do that? Nine Solitary Spears?" Everyone was confused as they wondered how much stronger Nine Solitary Spears must have become to dare to do this to Wang Yu.

"Not him… It is the system!"

Wang Yu screenshotted the system notification and sent it to the guild chat.

When everyone saw Wang Yu's screenshot, the guild chat became extremely quiet.

After a full ten seconds of silence, the crowd of them exclaimed, "One million? F*ck! Is the system acting against us?"
