Chapter 75 - The Sad Truth

CHAPTER 75

Jenny felt somewhat happy hearing her voice. She did not understand it but ever since her encounter with Macy on the island, she felt a new found respect for the girl and she also felt close to her somehow and had long to bond with her but she somehow never got the opportunity to.

"How have you been?" Jenny asked as she pulled away from the hug to look at her.

"Here and there but I can say that I am fine. You?"

"Umm, happy and jiving. Welcome to my family's club."

"Thank you. I can see that things are good and it is not what I expected really."

"Happy to disappoint in a good way though." Both ladies burst out laughing. Jay could see that Macy was beginning to relax and accept the other girl and he felt proud of her.

If she chose to continue on that part then it would bring forth happiness on her part and one that she would be happy she threaded.

"Give me our best, three glasses," Jenny ordered the bartender and smiled sweetly at Macy. "Trust me, you are going to love everything here." She gestured with her hands, spreading them outward to her side to emphasize her point. That had only caused Macy to laugh.

"I know. You are a very nice host. No wonder you stole all the young heiresses and heirs to your club. You know what you are doing."

"Awwn, that is so sweet of you to praise me like that." The bartender passed the drinks to her and she distributed them to her friends. "Now, cheers."

"To what?" Jay asked from behind her.

"Umm… to a nice night and to friendship."

"I like the sound of that," Jay remarked and raised his glass to touch theirs.

"Cheers then." Macy added and brought her own glass close as well.

As soon as their glasses touched each other they all smiled and brought it to their lips to taste the delectable promising liquid.

"Hmm, absolutely lovely."

"I told you so," Jenny responded to Macy before looking at Jay for his own compliment. "What do you think Jay?"

"Same as always, one of a kind."

"Thanks. Drink up, there's plenty more to come."

They drank some more and after about thirty minutes, a young girl walked over to where they were and smiled sweetly at Jay.

"Hello handsome." She greeted, flashing him a bright smile and blinking her lashes at him seductively.

She was putting in her effort and trying her best to get him interested but Jay did not even pay her any attention and let his gaze remain fixed on Macy.

"Jay!" Macy and Jenny called out his name, pulling his attention from dreamland to the dashing beauty in front of him.

"Yeah?" Jay quickly composed himself.

"Care to dance?"

"Umm…" He was about saying no, when Macy answered for him.

"Yes, he would love to." Jay's expression instantly dropped. He had been waiting for them to finish drinking so he could ask Macy to dance with him b ut how quickly she gave him up to a stranger.

What was she doing or trying to prove? Was she trying to say that there was no hope for him?

Even though he felt bad, he still smiled at the girl and gave her an answer.

"I guess that's a yes."

"Whooaa!!" Macy who was already tipsy did not notice his saddened expression and screamed her joy for him like he was a virgin about to get laid.

Jay kept his glass and gave a bitter smile to Jenny before taking the girl's hand and leading her to the dance floor.

In no time., both of them got into the dancing mood and rocked their bodies from side to side, enjoying the different tunes and beats the DJ was dropping.

By the time Jenny had noticed that Macy seemed to be calming down even though she knew she was in dancing, she felt like this was the best time to talk to her.

She had noticed what Macy did and knew that it had hurt Jay very much as it was written all over him that he was head over heels for her but she was just not seeing it or too oblivious to it.

Jenny just did not know which it was and thought that it as best she had a heart to heart talk with her.

She knew Macy was a nice girl and more than anything she wanted her for Jay as this for the second time in his life he was serious about a girl.

It was now or never. If she rejected him then there was no more hope for him and a mega play boy he would be.

"Hey Macy," Jenny called out her name a bit loudly to get her attention due to the loud music that was playing and obviously catching her attention.

"Yeah?"

"How do you see Jay?"

"How do I see Jay? I do not get you."

"You know what I mean. You are aware that he loves you, right?"

"Umm, he never said anything."

"Come on, you are a lady and you can feel it when a guy is in love with you. No guy would go through this and stand for it she watches the girl he loves cry for his bestfriend. Yet he still sticks with you even though he knows your heart is somewhere else."

Macy did not know how to respond to that. She simply lowered her head because she did not know how she was going to face Jenny and admit that she had not been able to kill her feelings for Sky completely.

"I know. I am not a demon and I know very well that it won't be easy letting go of what you feel for Sky. So please do not feel bad when you are with me. I am happy I can chill out with you like this as I admire your courage and your heart very much."

"It wasn't easy and it still isn't," Macy finally confessed. "But I feel happy that I could let it out, though. It felt like a tight knot in my stomach and I felt like the most horrid person in history."

"You are not. You have a pure heart."

"Thanks but I do not see myself that way," Macy argued. She felt bad for everything and still did that she did not know why Jenny still wanted to be friends with her?

"I know but it is even worse for Jay."

"How do you mean?"

"Watching his second love, fall for his best friend. It was because of the issue with his first love that he refused to fall in love again and now he is having his heart broken a second time." Jenny's smile dropped and she sat down on the stool before ordering for another glass of wine.

Macy noticed her solemn look and did the same thing, looking at her with concerned filled eyes. "Hey Jenny, what is wrong?"

"It is nothing. I just feel for Jay, that's all."

"If it is about his love story, I think he did wrong of not pushing through and fighting for the girl he loves."

"How could he?"

"How could he not? In terms of look, only two guys best him but other than that, once you get to know him, you would see how sweet he is. I believe he would have won."

"There were reasons why he couldn't win no matter what."

"Such as?"

"The obvious of course."

"What obvious?" Macy was confused by the whole thing. "I do not get you."

"It is the same as this time. Her has to suffer watching his second love fall for his best friend as did his first love."

"What?" Macy blinked severally at Jenny, nit sure if she heard correctly. :I do not understand but the story."

"He didn't tell you?"

"No. He only told me of the story but never that the other guy was Xander."

It was now Jenny's turn to be shocked. Just where did she get her story from?

"Who told you his best friend or the best friend in question was Xander?"

"I just thought that since you and Sky are a thing then it most definitely would be Xander and apparently I am wrong meaning the best friend and first love was none other than Sky and you?"

Jenny did not answer her but the tear that escaped her eyelid answered for her. Macy looked like she had seen a ghost as all the colour drained from her face instantly.

"Oh no!"

"I am sorry but that is the sad truth," Jenny replied her. She tried to form a smile but she failed miserably.

"I… but… you."

She could no longer form any coherent words and even all her tipsiness suddenly cleared. It was as though time froze in place and the harsh reality came knocking at her.
