Chapter 400 – Spartan Landlord

“Keep your phone on, I may contact you when I have free time.”

Ai ShuQiao said as she ended the conversation.

Su Qiao nodded until all you could hear was the busy signal, but she took a while before she took the phone away from her face.

I was still only in my underwear, but my little friend was finally able to calm down, so it wasn’t as vulgar.

“Su Qiao.” I called out to her.

“Su Qiao, Su Qiao.” I raised my voice.

I called her three times before she responded and reluctantly put down the phone.

“Ah, I’m sorry, my mind wandered.”

Her manner of speaking became even more polite than before.

“I never expected Mr. Ye would be Madam Ai ShuQiao’s son…”

“Don’t call me Mr. Ye.” I shouted, “I’m not Ai ShuQiao’s son, she’s not worthy of being a mother!”

Su Qiao put both her hands on her knees as she kneeled on the bed while cowering, “But there are no problems that can’t be solved between a mother and their child… my parents were really upset when I left home, but even now I still think about them…”

“I’m not the same as you.” I hammered the bed with my fist and it made Su Qiao tremble in fright, “The things Ai ShuQiao did are unforgivable. I will never reach a compromise with her and I’ll also take Ai Mi away from her.”

Su Qiao stopped persuading me to reconcile with my mother after she saw my angry eyes. But she might think I’m a kid throwing a tantrum who might one day reconcile with Ai ShuQiao. That’s why she would think my identity is an aristocrat who had a falling out with his mother and would one day return to the upper class.

It’s basically the exact plot of a melodramatic Korean drama for girls with youthful fantasies.

“Mr. Ye….”

“Call me Xiao Ye.”

“Mr. Xiao Ye….”

Are you trying to piss me off?

“If you keep saying that, I’ll beat…” I raised my fist, but saw Su Qiao purse her lips and was willing to accept it.

Ai ShuQiao’s words did have some reasoning behind it. An M personality will make me more S, no… not good, something else is rising up along with my S characteristics.

Since it was my bedroom, I grabbed a large pair of shorts, but it still couldn’t cover it.

Su Qiao lips curved up slightly as she noticed, but she did her utmost to suppress her laugh.

“Don’t listen to Ai ShuQiao’s nonsense.” Su Qiao felt strange as I called my mother by her full name.

“Her promises to let you marry into a wealthy household are all empty words. I mean I haven’t even seen a wealthy household.”

Su Qiao blinked, “Isn’t it natural for children to be like their parents?”

“It’s enough for me to be like my father!”

I shouted in front of Su Qiao and she cowered up like a lone ship in a violent storm.

The atmosphere was awkward for a while before Su Qiao stammered:

“Ye… Xiao Ye, you’re misunderstanding me. I never had any dreams of marrying into a wealthy family, and you would never even like me anyway… like the girl I met on the staircase today is many times prettier than me. Even if you wanted to get married, it would be with someone like her…”

Stop, that’s Shu Zhe in drag! Who wants to get married to him! If I had to choose between Shu Zhe and you, I would obviously choose you!

I couldn’t help but want to comfort Su Qiao a bit as she had no self confidence.

“Don’t look down on yourself, the person you met on the staircase…. that person might be beautiful, but they have no morals and is an awful person.”

Su Qiao lifted her head, “So you do know her….”

“So what? That person is an awful person who doesn’t know how to be grateful and would sellout anyone in the blink of an eye as long as they receive some benefits.”

I was only referring to what Shu Zhe did to his sister, yet Su Qiao felt I was scolding her for forgetting the times I helped her.

“I… I’m sorry.” Su Qiao apologized again, “I… I am indeed an awful person…”

“You guys are awful in different ways.” I blurted out. The wording felt a bit wrong, but I can’t really change my words.

Su Qiao kept her forehead pressed against the bed sheets and stayed in the same position before I forgave her.

“It’s okay, you don’t need to apologize anymore. That person is defintely worse overall.”

Su Qiao raised her body and gave me a perplexed look as she had no idea why I would attack that beautiful girl.

Ai ShuQiao was right. You do feel a sense of superiority when you’re in a situation where you’re the only one who knows the truth. I wanted to to make Su Qiao have more misunderstandings about Shu Zhe.

“It doesn’t matter if that person looks good, I wouldn’t be interested even if they stripped naked. Last time, that person was already seen by five guys and had hundreds of nude photos taken…”

Su Qiao’s face turned white and her expression seemed to say: I really don’t understand the sons of rich people. Why does such a beautiful girl have to treated so inhumanly.

I looked at the clock by the bed and it was already one in the morning.

Thus I said Su Qiao: “Tomorrow… I mean don’t you still have the last scene to film today? Don’t waste time and try to get some sleep. We’ll get up tomorrow and eat the leftovers and you’ll head to the film grounds while I got to school.”

Su Qiao appeared grateful after I allowed her to continue to use my room.

“Xiao Ye, you’re… a good person…”

Hey, don’t just friend zone me! Those words are taboo for a man!

I heard some rustling sounds after I left the room, it seems Su Qiao took off her outer clothing.

I mean wearing a lot of clothing would make it uncomfortable to sleep in, but what puzzled me was I didn’t hear the sound of her locking the door. Was she not afraid of me walking into the wrong room again and sleeping with her?

Breakfast was already made when I got up in the morning. And it wasn’t simple leftovers, but an appetizing fried rice with sausages.

There was also a chilled can of cola along with the rice. I remember we didn’t have sausages or cola at home. Did Su Qiao head to a convenience to buy it early in the morning?

Plus, all the clothes I took off in the room like my Tshirt, dirty socks, and even underwear were all washed cleanly and hung up on the balcony to dry. She was afraid of me being woken up by the washing machine, so she hand washed everything.

Su Qiao was wearing yesterday’s cleanly washed apron and was washing the cutting board in the kitchen. She greeted me when she saw me get up to use the washroom, her respectful manner made her seem exactly like an employed maid.

As I was brushing my teeth, I noticed an extra set of the travel toothbrush kits in front of the mirror. Su Qiao must have headed out to buy it since she wasn’t originally planning on staying over and didn’t bring anything.

I did my usual morning routine of push ups before breakfast. Su Qiao looked at my bulging muscles in the tight tank top while apologizing:

“The toothbrush set is mine, I forgot to put it away, I definitely don’t have any intention of pestering you to let me live here…”

“It’s fine if you live here.” I replied between a rep.

“Huh?”

“If you can’t afford the houses near film city, you can live here temporarily while looking for another place in the west district. I’m the only one living here for now anyway.”

My vision was too low so I couldn’t see her expression, but she did trip on her feet a bit.

“That… would be great. I don’t have have any more work near film city after today… but how much should I pay for rent?”

I could see Su Qiao moving her hands together in front of her and she seemed embarrassed.

“You don’t need to pay her rent. As long as it’s like today where to wash and cook for me. But I have to warn you, if you betray me again…”

“No, I definitely won’t.” She waved her hands in a hurry, “Your mother clearly said…”

She changed her wording when she saw my face:

“Madam Ai ShuQiao clearly said she wouldn’t tell me to harm you anymore. You guys are mother and son and also my benefactor.”

Su Qiao never took off her apron when we ate breakfast. Perhaps it was because she was afraid of getting her clothes dirty, but there was an evident divide between master and servant.

“Don’t get too happy. I need at least three days to prepare before you can move in. And I won’t give you a spare set of keys yet. When I’m not home, the large bedroom and study room will be locked, understand?”

Su Qiao nodded in consent.

To be honest, I didn’t completely let her live here on a whim since my trust towards her is still limited because she betrayed me.

But since I know she has a connection with Ai ShuQiao, I might as well keep her under my hand, maybe I do have a bit of control issues. Anyway, I feel like I can use her to find out Ai ShuQiao’s next steps.

The reason why I told her I need three days is not because of all the H goods in my room (although Xiao Qin and the class leader’s photos do need to be moved), but because I want to plant some listening devices.

I could get some listening devices from Peng TouSi. That way if Su Qiao has a secret conversation with Ai ShuQiao, it would all be recorded.

Even though you are helping me cook and wash clothes, I won’t become softhearted. If you’re devoted, then you would receive equivalent compensation, but if you back-stab me… I’ll make your company sign you to Director Cao, then you could enjoy being cast in an AV film.

After we ate, Su Qiao headed for the subways after washing the bowls. Before she left, she once again gave her thanks for letting stay. She said she may need 5 days to take care of the rental house, so she would come by next week.

I only realized after Su Qiao left: Although it’s reasonable to use Ai ShuQiao as an excuse, I essentially asked a young woman to live together with me.

It’s a serious matter for a middle school student, so I should at least report it to my dad and ask for his approval. It’s better than trying to explain the situation when he suddenly comes home and sees a girl living here.

Tuesday at school was as boring as always. I came to school a bit early and heard Loud Mouth and Little Smart’s conversation. Apparently something unpleasant happened when she visited Zhuang Ni with the class leader yesterday.

Zhuang Ni was using white bed sheets to cover her lower body and she looked like a hospital patient.

When she received the class uniform, she didn’t even say thanks and even picked at the design saying it looked bad.

Loud Mouth was frank and retorted her: “If it looks bad, then you design a better one!”

Zhuang Ni some colored pencils and paper from nearby and easily drew an exquisite new design with the foundation of the 3 with the crown and only two different colors.

The foundation was the same, but the new design was much better than the old one and left Loud Mouth speechless.

The class leader didn’t like Zhuang Ni’s arrogant attitude, but was won over with the design and wanted to keep it in case it could come of use in the future. Who knew Zhuang Ni didn’t cherish her work at all. She folded up the design into a paper airplane and tossed it out the window.

Zhuang Ni seemed gratified as she watched the airplane slowly flutter into a heap of garbage.
