Chapter 22 - Incomplete Skills

"Wow," Leo exclaimed.

Inside the waterfall, there was a huge room with several furniture. But what most caught Leo's attention was shelves that were at the side of the room.

The shelves were full of several books with strange formations and runes that were unknown to Leo.

"What do you think? This is where I usually come when I want to read quietly. Although when my sister is in the house, I can't be calm. "Sona said with a sigh.

"I understand you ..." Leo said with a sigh.

Sona looked at Leo with a sympathetic smile as he nodded.

"Do you want to look at the books? My sister told me that you were quite interested in magic." Sona asked.

"Yes," Leo nodded. Although he had been with Serafall for several years and had learned several things from her, her teachings on magic were too strange ...

"Hum… Nee-chan is a very bad teacher. When she came to the underworld, she always tried to teach me but I couldn't understand her magic classes. I don't know how you could learn anything from her." Sona looked at Leo as if he was a monster.

"To tell you the truth, I've only been able to learn the most basic things about magic" Leo was sincere. His dominance over spells was scarce so he simply used demonic power to

(Note Genesis: I remember that magic and demonic power are different. Magic is using calculation while demonic power is using imagination. This is how Leo was able to recreate skills such as the snake's mantle or Full Counter.)

"Hum ... my parents got me a personal teacher to teach me magic so I've been learning spells from him but I'm only able to use three spells at the moment still can't control it very well ..." Sona said as she went to the bookshelf and picked up a book.

"Here!. I imagine you want to start with the basics. Look at it now, I am sure that many things will be new to you" Sona gave him a book entitled [basic concepts about magic] although the typography of the letters made the title look like a magic circle.

"Thanks." Leo took the book and went to the couch expectantly, he was quite excited so he couldn't contain the urge to read the book.

Sona also did not stay behind and took another book from the bookshelf and sat on a sofa near Leo's.

The two were reading in total silence enjoying the sound of nature.

Although he spent most of his time training with spells, out of curiosity he tried to recreate some skills that demons used with magic. Exactly a skill created by Monspeet one of the ten commandments.

Gokuencho (Hellfire bird)

At first, Leo tried to create it with magic but without realizing it he used Hellblaze to create the bird with the fire of purgatory instinctively.

The result was a mini bird the size of a hummingbird formed with black flames.

But that was not what caught his attention. What caught his attention was his memories of the skill.

At the time he used Gokuencho it was as if memories about the use of the skill rained in his mind. But to his dismay, it wasn't as he imagined.

Instead of having the complete ability, only part of the incomplete ability came to his mind. Not only that, curious, he inspected his memories and what he found completely surprised him.

At first, Leo thought that all the memories he had were his innate abilities as a demon but it wasn't just that, in his memories, it also included enchantments like Hellblaze he used before and countless abilities.

They were all different abilities that some character of Nanatsu no Taizai use. And Leo could not relate these Skills with his innate abilities as a demon. But even if all the skills were different, they all have something in common ... they were incomplete.

The reason for this was something that Leo did not know and he had been trying to find an explanation for this for a long time but he did not find an answer for this, so he could only resign himself and set it aside. But even so, while practicing magic, he occasionally tried to find a reason for incomplete skills.

Closing the book, Leo sighed and leaned back.

"Are you done yet?" Sona asked, several days ago Leo was immersed in his self-study and from time to time he would ask for help while they talked.

"Yes… I'm done with the basics. The more advanced books are a more complicated one, so I don't think I will finish them in a short time." Leo said as he kept the book on the bookshelf. Thanks to his memories of his other life, it was easier to study the basic level magic books but the more advanced ones would take longer.

"Little time? These days you have read more than twenty books over and now you tell me that the most advanced books will take you a little longer?" Sona said as she rolled her eyes.

"Okay, okay... even if you complain, I'm sure it only took you a few more days to finish the basics," Leo said while massaging his eyes.

"But I've been learning since I was little, so it's not uncommon for this to know," Sona said.

"Your sister also taught me since I was little so ..." Before Leo could finish, Sona interrupted him.

"My sister doesn't count"

"I know she is a bad teacher but still ..."

"She is not a bad teacher, she is the worst teacher in the underworld. When she tried to teach me how to create a fireball, his explanation was simple: You only have FIUM, BANG you move your hand with until you feel itchy and you have TAM and that's it." Sona said while imitating the sounds and attitude of Serafall.

'So cute' Leo thought as he watched little Sona imitate Serafall.

While Sona and Leo were chatting, they were interrupted by a magic circle that appeared nearby in Sona ear.

"Excuse me Leo-chan, I have a call" Sona excused herself.

"Take your time," Leo said.

Moving away from the cave, Leo stood at the base of the waterfall while enjoying the sensation of the wind.

After a few minutes, Sona left the cave.

"Leo-san!" Sona exclaimed happily as she left the waterfall.

"It's time, it's time" Sona continued jumping until she got where Leo

"Is it time for what?" Leo asked curiously.

"The ceremony! Onee-chan just called me to tell me the ceremony will be tonight, "Sona said with a smile as she looked at Leo with an expectant look.

"Hum" Leo nodded avoiding Sona's gaze.

"Won't you change your mind?" Sona asked as she used her Skills [Puppy Eyes]

"No, I have not changed my mind. I'm still not interested," Leo said with an apologetic smile.

"Fine.." Sona said with a discouraged face.

Looking at Sona, Leo sighed.

At one point these days, Sona invited Leo to be part of her peerage but like Serafall, she was rejected.

Since arriving in the Dxd universe, Leo never had in mind joining someone's Peerage.

The reason was simple: It was useless for him.

Ajuka Beelzebub was the creator of the system of the evil piece, this system was created to allow reincarnating any supernatural being or not as devils.

Over the years, Leo was raising his hypotheses about whether he was able to have his evil pieces. The conclusion was a big NO, he didn't know if he was able to have evil pieces in the first place but if by any chance he was able to get his pieces of evil. How would they reincarnate?

And the option of joining someone's nobility was a resounding NO.

Leo was a high-ranking demon, his physique and his amount of magic were superior to that of the devils. As a demon, Leo was weak before the powers based on light and nothing else, he could pray and even drink holy water.

With all those qualities, reincarnating like a devil would be stupid. He will acquire more weaknesses but even so, Leo was tempted several times to accept Sona offer because although they were all disadvantages, reincarnating as a devil brought a great benefit.

His life expectancy.

As a demon, Leo's life expectancy was 3000 years while the devils were immortal. This was one of the reasons why Leo rethought numerous times join or not join any peerage.

'I'll find a solution for this...' Leo thought to himself. These were problems for later.
