Chapter 70

Elysia saw the man attacking Peloit.

Was it Duke Esteban?

His name was Cassian…?

She didn’t even know why she remembered it.

From a distance, she could see purple eyes looking at her with a bitter expression.

Thump, thump. From the moment she looked at him. No, her heart was beating fast when she started getting closer to him.

As the wind blew, Cassian’s hair was a little messy, and a scent that was more than sweet and ecstatic came out. It was astonishing how in the world such a physique could exist.

She couldn’t help but stare at him.

The moment she made eye contact with him, Elysia completely forgot Peloit’s existence that wrapped around her waist.

In a black and white space, he was clear as if he had vivid colors.

As she concentrated a little, she could feel the breath he exhaled, his heartbeat, and the scent around his neck. No matter how good a vampire’s senses were, this could not be the case. And, why was he looking at her with that expression?

She could see the hand that was trembling as if it was going to grab her at any moment, curling up and squeezing it. He clenched his fists so tightly that she smelled blood.

His lips, which had been bit as he looked at her, could not turn white anymore and were bitten as if blood could ooze out.

His eyes, which were full of sharp edges, and the reddish corners of his eyes frowned in pain.

Elysia felt the urge to reach out and open his fists, pull his bitten lip out, and wipe his reddened eyes. Is it just because of his physique that makes her feel like this?

Her eyesight became blurry as her head filled with emotions that she couldn’t identify.

“Ah…?”

She felt the tears flowing down her cheeks.

She bowed her head and looked at the tears that had fallen on the back of her hands, and it was quiet as if Cassian’s breathing had stopped.

Peloit’s resolute voice caught the gaze that was about to turn again.

“Elysia.”

“…Pel.”

Blue eyes caught her.

Yes, the man she loved was Peloit.

But, why…?

Peloit wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with a gentle touch as if he knew everything about her. Then, he led her behind his back as if trying to hide her from Cassian.

As he took Cassian out of sight, she felt bad.

‘Why are you doing this…’

She looked down at the smell of blood from Peloit’s fingertips. Magic flowed along the trajectory of his movement, and the smell of blood was overlaid.

…How did she know that that is magic?

Elysia ruffled her hair roughly and sighed.

She didn’t have any memories. When her body recovered, she wondered if they would come back together. However, looking at the glances between Cassian and Peloit, it seemed that she was not in a situation to pay attention to such a thing.

She took a step back in the sharp energy emanating from where Cassian was.

Cassian, who looked at Peloit’s fingertips, swung his sword and rushed in.

“Keuk…!”

Peloit, who barely drew his sword and blocked it, let out a groan. He seemed desperate to stop Cassian’s non-stop attack.

Meanwhile, Elysia was hesitant while she thought she should help him.

First of all, the situation was too bloody for her to intervene, and above all, she was confused about whose side to take. Naturally, she thought it was Peloit, though for some reason, she was reluctant.

She saw Peloit click his tongue before walking up to her and stretching out his hand.

“How dare you…!”

Cassian spoke in a threatening voice and lowered Peloit’s arm with his sword.

The smell of blood lingered, along with the wounds on Peloit’s arm. He reached out to her in that situation, but Elysia stepped back even further.

“Elysia…?”

“Ah, that’s…”

It wasn’t because of the smell of blood that she backed away.

Without realizing it, she backed away and avoided Peloit’s hand.

For a moment, his face seemed to become cold, but soon returned to a friendly face and blinked as if to come back behind him.

“…Elysia.”

Peloit called her to come closer.

Cassian raised the corners of his lips sullenly and opened his mouth.

“See if you can afford it.”

Even for those who did not know the sword, it was an overwhelming skill difference because Peloit was being pushed as if he was going to sacrifice his head to Cassian’s sword at any moment.

Elysia shuddered whenever the two swords collided, thinking she should help Peloit, although she hesitated.

While hesitating, Peloit threw down his sword and avoided the incoming sword, and Cassian rushed in. Seeing that, Peloit grinned and then came over to Elysia, giving Cassian an arm in the opposite direction to his wounded one.

In an instant, he grabbed her wrist and dragged her away. He then locked her in his arms and said to Cassian.

“It’s better to put down the sword. Duke.”

Elysia did not listen to him, but raised her hand and placed her hand on Peloit’s chest.

She could feel his heart beating hard under the palm of her hand. The firm chest that held he and Elysia remembered the look in Peloit’s eyes looking at her.

It was more possessive than affection or love.

Of course, she felt that he liked her, and she loved him, too…

Her gaze continued to turn to Cassian.

No. Even though she was desperately holding back not only her gaze, her body was constantly trying to turn towards him.

That was why she wasn’t willing to move.

Nevertheless, she didn’t think Cassian would be dangerous just by looking at it, but she seemed afraid that he might get hurt.

The situation in which she was attracted to Cassian while feeling his body scent was strangely eerie. The more she tried to continue her thoughts, the more her head felt like it was going to break, and she closed her eyes tightly.

Even in the vague memories of an unknowing moment, the feeling of holding her and kissing her in succession was vivid.

Elysia opened her eyes and raised her head to stare at him.

Could the man in her memory be Peloit…?

He seemed to be relieved to see her gently in his arms. Peloit, who briefly mumbled that there was no way, could feel magic creeping up.

Was he planning to attack that man?

“Pel, wait a minute. I don’t know what’s going on…!”

As she grabbed his hand, who seemed to be preparing for magic, Peloit tightened the grip on her and pulled her closer.

“Stay still. He is a hostile person, it is dangerous to separate from me.”

Her brow furrowed at the coercive tone.

When she backed away from Peloit’s touch earlier, the chill that passed by for a brief moment, and the relief she felt when he looked at her, all bothered her.

She didn’t like it.

In an instant, she heard Peloit muttering that she should be fed one more time. Elysia made a brief impression. His self-talk-like words from before scratched her nerves.

What was she going to be fed with? Blood?

Whatever it was, it was clear that it was talking about her.

What is it that he was saying he needed to feed her?

She liked Peloit, though isn’t he just human?

If it was blood, she eats it when she wants to, not because someone was feeding it. In addition, she didn’t like that he pretended to understand everything because she didn’t have any memories.

Where in the world did she like this man?

Rather, her preference was to have a good-looking guy standing over there. She was also curious about the identity of the tears she shed a while ago. She would find out when her memories come back…

Cassian, who was standing in the place where she looked up, was obsessively looking at her.

‘Why… Are you looking at me like that?’

His eyes clearly showed concern for her.

Aside from worry, there seemed to be a mixture of emotions, but the one that stood out, in particular, was anger. It was the eyes that seemed to be unable to move if any emotion had been in front of his nose.

Elysia felt that Peloit was ready to use his magic.

A loud beep echoed in her head.

When she felt a massive wave of magic along with the smell of fishy blood, her body moved first.

She pushed Peloit as hard as she could and turned to Cassian. It was because she had a strong conviction that Cassian would not be able to stop it.

“Elysia…!”

“Elysia, what are you doing now?”

She heard two men calling her.

Peloit had already cast his spell, and she ran towards Cassian as if to shield him.

As a firm hand supported her waist, she could feel her body trying to turn around. It was Cassian who wrapped around her again and tried to block the attack.

‘No, no—!’

She could recover, but not the man in front of her.

Elysia swiftly turned her body in the direction where Peloit was. She could see spear-shaped, long, black lumps of magic flying down like they were going to pierce.

A low murmur was heard from Peloit.

“Damn it.”

Cassian wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her back, and Peloit quickly turned the direction of the attack.

Peloit frowned and spit his words out in a cold tone of anger.

“What are you doing?!”

Elysia swallowed a groan, raised her hand and touched her forehead.

Thankfully, they seemed to have escaped the dangerous situation right now.

‘Was he trying to protect me?’

She had had a strange conviction that if she hadn’t turned back to Peloit a moment ago, Cassian would have been hit instead. He seemed to have an antagonistic relationship with Peloit, not her.

When he called out her name or looked at her, they seemed to know each other.

First of all, Elysia pushed Cassian away to get out of his arms.

He gently released her from his arms, though the hand that wrapped around her waist remained the same. Cassian didn’t seem to want to distance himself from her any longer.

Peloit was looking at it with a vicious force.

From his point of view, it was understandable that the lover threw herself away to help the man in a hostile relationship, although was there a reason to look so disgusting.

She said she loved him.

Peloit felt the rejection grow in volume.

“Elysia. That man is dangerous. Come… come here.”

From a rational point of view, it would be right to go to Peloit. If she were in danger, he would call her as he was worried…

Seeing her stare at him until the very end, the corners of his lips rose slightly.

Even if she wanted to go to Peloit, Cassian didn’t seem to let her go.

Elysia took a small deep breath and said to Cassian.

“Would you mind letting me go?”

“I’m sorry, but I can’t do that. If this is uncomfortable, should I hug you?”

“Suddenly… what.”

Elysia was taken aback as she watched Cassian glancing at her legs.

Why was he like that?

Confused, she opened her mouth blankly, then she looked at Cassian and Peloit alternately. Peloit was looking at her with desperate eyes as if begging her to come this way.

What would he do if she came while he looked at her like that?

“Let me go for a moment. I’m not going anywhere.”

When Elysia had spoken, he raised the corners of his lips awkwardly, wondering if she was a bit arrogant.

The purple eyes looked at her as if it was judging her.

Cassian gave a brief, thoughtful look and wrapped her waist tighter.

“.…?”

“Because I’m not going to let you go anymore.”
