Chapter 1064 - The Star Dancer’s Boudoir

Lan Xiaoni stared at the excited An Lin with confusion on her face.

An Lin didn’t waste any more time words. He wouldn’t be able to figure out what this key was just by looking at it, so he just resorted to using his hack.

Divine Inspection Technique!

Information regarding the golden key began to appear in his mind.

[A golden key: Able to open the skipper’s core cabin.]

An Lin’s expression faltered.

The key to the skipper’s core cabin? Wasn’t the Star Dancer the skipper?

He had initially thought that this was the key to some treasures, but this was just the key to the Star Dancer’s boudoir?

An Lin was very angry. He felt like his dreams had been shattered.

How was accessing the Star Dancer’s boudoir going to be useful to him in any way? He was a man, a cultivator who was constantly advancing in pursuit of his dreams and more treasures! How could he waste time on something as useless as this?

That’s right! This key was absolutely useless to him!

An Lin turned and left.

“Big Boss An Lin, where are we going?” Lan Xiaoni immediately trailed along.

An Lin replied with a solemn expression, “To the skipper’s core cabin.”

Theoretically speaking, the control room of the battleship and the skipper’s core cabin wouldn’t be too far away. Both of them should be located in the core region of the battleship.

They had no directions anyway, so they just began wandering around the area.

Thankfully, this battleship had been desperately lacking repair for countless years and even though many of the doors were tightly shut, most of them could be opened by Lan Xiaoni’s bloodline power.

That’s right, without a skipper, the Starfire Battleship acknowledged the next lineal descendant around.

Lan Xiaoni’s sense of existence and self-worth went through the roof as a result. Even Big Boss An Lin needed to rely on her power. Just the thought of it made her lips curl up in a smug smile.

After passing through over a hundred special alloy doors, they finally arrived at a very large gate. The gate was in a semi-circle shape and it looked like a black, starry night sky, giving onlookers a sense of entrancement when they set eyes upon it.

An Lin was elated to find that above the gate, there was a string of peculiar ancient text, along with two fans.

He didn’t understand what the ancient text meant, but he could understand the fans! Those were the Star Dancer’s fans!

“Is this the Star Dancer’s boudoir?” An Lin was getting quite excited.

Lan Xiaoni rolled her eyes at An Lin before turning to look up at the ancient text and nodding her head. “It should be. The ancient Spirit Fish Clan text there basically conveys that this is the Star Dancer’s cabin.”

She stepped forward as she spoke and placed her hands on the door as usual before activating the power of her bloodline.

However, the door refused to budge even a single inch this time.

Lan Xiaoni was feeling a little awkward.

A smug smile appeared on An Lin’s face this time. “A door even you can’t open must be quite a sacred place. Looks like this is the Star Dancer’s core cabin for sure. In times like this, we need this.”

He pulled out the golden key and placed it into a small opening by the side of the gate!

The gate opened, but in a slightly peculiar way. A massive mouth suddenly extended out of the starry night sky and swallowed An Lin and Lan Xiaoni!

An Lin was astonished.

Lan Xiaoni screamed.

The two of them didn’t even get a chance to fully release their emotions before they landed heavily onto the ground.

An Lin raised his head to find an extremely antiquated, yet elegant room around them.

The floor was paved with bluestone, the tables and chairs were made of some sort of red wood, and there were calligraphy and artwork hanging from the walls.

Through the windows, which were framed by intricately carved wood, they could see a vast starry sky.

There was a light blue veil surrounding a bed, and there seemed to be a figure sitting on that bed.

An Lin and Lan Xiaoni both tensed up at the same time.

“Don’t move! I’ll go first!” An Lin instructed with a cautious expression.

He pulled out his Evil-Slaying Sword and sliced apart the blue veil.

As the blue veil slowly fluttered to the ground, a gorgeous woman was revealed. She was sitting by the edge of the bed with her eyes closed. Her body was devoid of vitality and her fishtail spilled over limply onto the floor.

As opposed to a deceased person, she actually looked more like a beautiful woman taking a short nap.

The passage of time did not seem to have left a single trace or mark on her body.

“Is this the real body of the Star Dancer? She’s even more beautiful than when she was battling me!” An Lin couldn’t help but gasp in amazement.

Lan Xiaoni provided a stern reminder, “Big Boss An Lin, are you here to admire corpses? Don’t forget what we’re here to do!”

“I’m doing something very important right now! Look at her. She died in a sitting position, and she seems so serene and peaceful before her death. That’s way too strange! Is this not worthy of our investigation?” An Lin countered.

Lan Xiaoni was no match for him in a war of words and could only pout to express her displeasure.

An Lin made his way over to the body of the Star Dancer and carefully appraised it. He poked the Star Dancer’s fair, intricate cheek with a finger to discover that it was a little cold, but not hard…

“The body had been very well preserved, so it looks like she must have perished as the result of some extremely powerful curse technique,” An Lin analyzed.

Low-level curse techniques targeted the physical body, high-level curse techniques targeted the consciousness, while top-level curse techniques targeted fate and karma… For example, cursing someone to have bad luck for their entire life was actually one of the highest-level curse techniques in existence. It was meant to affect a living being’s entire life and fate and was very difficult, if not impossible to lift.

An Lin couldn’t tell how the Star Dancer had died, he could only attribute her death to something similar in nature to a curse technique.

“To be able to curse a mighty figure at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage, her opponent must be at the Dao Integration Stage at the very least, right?” Lan Xiaoni was a little nervous.

An Lin nodded. “With the help of the Starfire Battleship, a normal Dao Integration Stage super mighty figure might not even be able to touch her. Her opponent must have been quite powerful even among the Dao Integration Stage super might figures. However… if they really were that powerful, wouldn’t it be much simpler to beat the Star Dancer to death with brute force?”

“Look at the situation now! The curse wasn’t even a complete success! The Star Dancer was still able to seal away a portion of her power to bully us!”

An Lin was clearly a bit resentful for the bad job the Star Dancer’s killer had done.

A bold thought suddenly surfaced in Lan Xiaoni’s mind. “It’s not impossible. Perhaps her opponent didn’t even see the Star Dancer as a worthy opponent and only threw a curse technique at her because they didn’t like the look of her. Wouldn’t that be a plausible explanation?”

An Lin: “Then how bad*ss would her killer have to be?”

“Probably around as bad*ss as Big Boss An Lin at the Return to Void Stage?” Lan Xiaoni estimated with a serious expression.

“Quit telling the truth!” An Lin was quite elated.

He was elated at how good an underling Lan Xiaoni had turned out.

As for the living being who had slain the Star Dancer, they didn’t know who it was, but they didn’t think it would be the Ancient Heavenly Fiendcelestial. If the Ancient Heavenly Fiendcelestial really was that bad*ss, it wouldn’t have been slain by the High Priest and the High Priestess.

An Lin groped all over the Star Dancer’s body to find that it was pleasantly cool and soft to the touch… Er… But that was not the point. He just wanted to see if she carried any treasures with her.

Unfortunately, this mighty figure at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage wasn’t even carrying a single treasure with her.

In the end, Lan Xiaoni placed the Star Dancer’s body into her storage ring.

Even though she had been their enemy, the Star Dancer was still one of the top mighty figures of the Spirit Fish Clan who had perished to protect the clan. She decided that she would give her a proper burial if she could return to the Sea Heart Palace.

The two of them began rummaging through the room again as they couldn’t shake the feeling that there were some treasures waiting for them.

They had only discovered that golden key after much difficulty; they couldn’t just take that beautiful mermaid corpse and be done with everything!

After an exhaustive search, they finally found something worthy of note.

It was the Star Dancer’s sailing journal!
