Chapter 148 - Grade 4 Hei Ji

Jiang Lin returned three days later.

Nothing much had changed. The only thing that changed was that he stopped bringing the rumor up. It seemed that he had already realized the mistake he had made.

Chen Jingzhai chuckled in his head as he asked Hong Chan to arrange a room for Jiang Lin to stay in.

The truth was that no one was plotting anything against him. The person who had spread that rumor was none other than Sage Xu herself.

She wanted to direct the attention of the disciples of the Will Celestial Clan, the Serenity Hollow Clan, and even the northern nobles.

If Chen Jingzhai had not stayed in Donglai County the whole time after he came down from the mountains, people would’ve already kicked his door down.

Living one’s life as a cultivator did not mean one had to live alone. Getting married would help out a lot in their training as well.

Sage Xu was the Master Aunt of Miao Yun, and her master was a mysterious figure of the Soaring Clouds Clan.

Almost half of those who were interested in Miao Yun were actually interested in seeking that mysterious master out.

Sage Qing Mu had weighed the pros and cons for Chen Jingzhai before he left.

Even if the young man had clearly shown that the matter did not trouble him, the fact that someone was trying to use him still lay there.

However, as he mentioned, Chen Jingzhai couldn’t care much about it.

He wanted to spend time perfecting his techniques and not waste it on someone else’s romantic ideas.

Even in his past life, Chen Jingzhai had never been a sentimental person. That was how he was able to leave it all behind.

The days returned to normal after that.

Chen Jingzhai would spend most of his days making elixirs and would sometimes let Hei Ji bring the 12 Zodiacs Puppets to the Eastern Ocean to train.

They would mostly train the Zodiac Formation to get ready for battle.

Since the puppets would only depart at night to avoid any attention, Chen Jingzhai was still unable to hide it from his disciple nephew, who currently resided with him.

However, since Jiang Lin was a drunkard, he wasn’t interested in the battle formation.

Instead, he found a new interest in puppets.

Not only did he get himself a phone bug, but he also bought a lot of Grade 1 and 2 puppets from Zhang Kui.

He would even use the beast puppet as his ride whenever he went out.

Jiang Lin was not the type that would stay in one place for very long. He would suddenly disappear for a few days.

Chen Jingzhai didn’t mind it. Whenever Jiang Lin was around, he would always ask about the Path of Wine Talisman from his disciple nephew.

After mastering the Dragon and Phoenix Consummation Seal Script, he realized that he was highly compatible with the Path of Talisman.

Although he was not trained in the sky scripture of the Wine Celestial lineage, he still learned a lot from Jiang Lin.

His disciple nephew couldn’t help but exclaim how it was such a waste that he did not join Wine Celestial Peak.

When the first snow of the year fell, Chen Jingzhai was able to use wine talismans with the help of his wine calabash.

The high-grade wine calabash with 24 layers of Restrictions was extremely powerful.

He had only used it as a mere vessel for wine before and had never really treated it as a spiritual item.

However, now, he had mastered the 20th layer and had complete control over the calabash.

Chen Jingzhai even researched and created Wine Talisman Elixirs for that.

The elixir was made with Grade 1 Drunk Heart Herbs as the main ingredient and was able to produce all sorts of alcohol by soaking it in clear water or spiritual water.

Different types of water would result in different types of alcohol.

The water was the deciding factor as the elixir would remain the same.

Jiang Lin was extremely excited when he tried the elixir and begged Chen Jingzhai to give him a ton.

From that day onward, the disciple nephew pretty much lived his life intoxicated. Chen Jingzhai could usually find him leaning on top of the pagoda, glancing toward the horizon.

Even when the roof was covered in snow, he would still head there.

Chen Jingzhai told his maids that Jiang Lin was in the process of comprehending his path and asked them not to disturb him.

Yet, even the Master-Uncle wasn’t sure if his disciple nephew was really comprehending the path or not. He couldn’t help but feel that Jiang Lin was just putting up an act.

On a rare day when the snow did not fall, and the sun was bright, a shadow suddenly appeared on top of Donglai City.

“Greetings, Master-Uncle of the Luo Sheng Sword School. I’m Miao Ke from the Soaring Clouds Clan.” A faint voice came from high above the sky and slowly spread out like a ripple.

Mortals weren’t affected by her voice, but the cultivators all raised their heads.

A celestial ship was floating in the sky with its sails fully extended.

On top of the ship stood a celestial maiden with a few other cultivators behind her.

Chen Jingzhai frowned as he glared at the ship.

“Master-Uncle, I think it’s best if you meet with them,” Jiang Lin, who was still lying on the roof, faintly said. “The celestial maidens are a prideful bunch. They might come with ill intentions.”

“Can’t you help me out here?” Chen Jingzhai scolded.

“We of the Wine Celestial lineage don’t like to get into disputes.” Jiang Lin grinned. “Isn’t it better if you do it yourself?”

“Well, whatever.” Chen Jingzhai’s expression turned cold. “It looks like we’ll have to leave Wangdan Pagoda soon. Since they have ruined my day, I’ll have to teach them a lesson.”

As soon as he finished his sentence, he extended his arm and faced his open palm toward the sky.

The clouds that were dispersed by the celestial ship suddenly gathered and formed into the shape of a palm.

Before Miao Ke could even react, she felt immense pressure from above.

A chill ran down her spine, and she had the expression of someone in shock.

The palm made out of white clouds hit the Soaring Clouds Ship and sent it out of Donglai County.

“Wow! What is that?” Jiang Lin exclaimed.

“Let’s call it the White Cloud Palm,” Chen Jingzhai said calmly. “Are you coming with me, or are you staying? Before you decide, you should know that I’ve already sold Wangdan Pagoda to Senior Brother Qing Mu.”

“Is that so? Let’s go then.” Jiang Ling got up and threw his wine calabash out.

It expanded and floated in front of him. He weakly got up onto it and lay down.

Chen Jingzhai could only shake his head at how Jiang Lin looked right now.

Instead of the unrestrained and elegant nature that a cultivator usually carried around, his disciple nephew looked more like a complete drunkard.

Hong Fu and others were quick with the packing, as many things could be thrown into the storage bag.

The most important thing was the spirit silkworms. These had to be kept inside Chen Jingzhai’s puppet tower ship.

There was a room in the ship that was designed explicitly for the silkworm to grow.

After everything was prepared, Chen Jingzhai drove the ship out of Donglai County.

In the air, Jiang Lin yawned as he quickly caught up with the Soaring Clouds Ship.

The Soaring Clouds Clan was pretty wealthy, seeing how most of the inner disciples had their own ship.

Among all of the clans in Pulao Kingdom, the one with the strongest ships would most likely be the Soaring Clouds Clan.

It was clear that Chen Jingzhai had held back when he sent the ship flying away, or else the ship would not have stabilized so fast.

Jiang Lin was one of the few who knew that his Master-Uncle’s ability had long surpassed one in the Foundation Establishment Plane, to the point where he was able to easily capture a Grade 3 sea beast.

“Greetings, Celestial Maiden Miao Ke. My name is Jiang Lin,” he greeted. “Oh? Isn’t this Senior Brother Xu from the Serenity Hollow Clan and Senior Brother Fan from the Will Celestial Clan? And even the third young master of the Chen family and the fifth young master of the Liu family are here too? Are you guys looking for some fun in the Eastern Ocean too?”

A hint of mockery could be heard in Jiang Lin’s voice as it was clear that he was belittling them.

He wasn’t shocked that Miao Ke had come, but he did not expect to see that there were other people following her.

Xu Qing of the Serenity Hollow Clan and Fan Mingge of the Will Celestial Clan were both Advanced Foundation Plane cultivators.

Chen Feiyu from the Chen family and Liu Mingke from the Liu family of the northern nobles were Advanced Foundation Plane cultivators as well.

It seemed that these four well-known people had decided to side with the celestial maiden instead of the dragon who was hiding his power.

Wherever the celestial maidens of the Soaring Clouds Clan went, they would follow.

Jiang Lin wasn’t that surprised to see them.

“What do you mean by looking for some fun?” Chen Feiyu coldly scolded as he stood on the deck. “Are you saying that we aren’t qualified enough to go?”

Miao Ke had already stabilized her ship, but her expression wasn’t the best.

The attack by Chen Jingzhai was so sudden that it broke parts of her ship. Since the ship was linked to her, she was injured as well.

The reason the other four cultivators were treating Jiang Lin as if he was an enemy was that they noticed the painful expression on the maiden’s face.

“It’s not that you can’t go, but more like you shouldn’t,” Jiang Lin replied as he shook his head. “You guys could’ve just spent the day and enjoyed your beautiful time with the celestial maiden. Why come here to have a bloodbath?”

“Look at this drunkard!” Liu Mingke laughed. “Why are we even talking to a person who’s not himself? Celestial maiden, please guide the ship back to Donglai County. We were simply caught by surprise. We’ll make that Master-Uncle come out and meet us this time.”

“There’s no need for that.” Chen Jingzhai’s nonchalant voice came from the back of the ship. “How can I be so disrespectful when so many of my disciple nephews and nieces have come to visit me?”
