Chapter 35 - They're Here!

Chapter 35 They’re Here!

“So I wasn’t your idol before?”

The corners of Lin Bai’s lips curled up slightly. He revealed a faint smile and teased Li Tongwu.

Li Tongwu scratched his head. He looked at Lin Bai and said softly, “Aiya! Boss, don’t make things difficult for me!”

Li Tongwu rolled his eyes.

“Let’s go look for the Dean! His competition looks very important.”

Lin Bai paused and looked at Li Tongwu. “Okay.”

Lin Bai couldn’t reject the Dean. He was still a student of the school after all.

Moreover, the Dean treated him quite well.

Wu Yue and Wei Feng were already there when they arrived at the Dean’s office.

Wu Yue’s expression was slightly ugly and there was a hint of unwillingness in his eyes. The Dean looked up at Wu Yue helplessly.

“The higher-ups called late last night. What can I do about it? I can’t decide on the matter of the competition alone.”

“It’s an order from above.”

Lin Bai’s ears were extremely good. He could hear the Dean’s deliberately lowered voice even though he had just stepped into the office.

Lin Bai frowned slightly.

Could there be more to this competition?

Wu Yue turned to look at Lin Bai instinctively.

“Dean, Instructor Wu, Instructor Wei.”

Lin Bai greeted them one by one, but Wu Yue and Wei Feng directly called him Captain, appearing very respectful to Lin Bai.

Lin Bai was still not used to it.

The Dean immediately beamed with joy as soon as Lin Bai arrived. He waved enthusiastically at Lin Bai and said softly to him, “Lin Bai, you’re here! I was just about to ask someone to invite you here!”

“Tongwu and the others have told you, right? I want you to participate in a competition. It’s not far. It’s in Marina Metropolis City.”

Lin Bai raised his eyebrows and looked at the Dean.

“Dean, what kind of competition is this?”

The Dean raised his head and looked over. There was a hint of a smile in his voice as he said softly to Lin Bai, “It’s not a big competition. It’s just that some people from the higher-ups’ army want to compete with the students.”

“The other academies are going too!”

Lin Bai paused.

“Does that mean that no students participated in the past?”

The Dean fell silent.

He looked at Lin Bai only after a while.

“If you enter the top few rankings of this competition, you can graduate early when you return. You don’t have to study anymore.”

“You can stay in school or join the army.”

Lin Bai immediately understood.

The change to accept students was made specially for them.

Perhaps the army wanted to see what they were capable of?

The corners of his lips curled up slightly, revealing an interesting smile. He did not reject the Dean.

“Dean, I only have one request.”

“I’m taking my notebook with me. Is that okay?”

The Dean thought of the call from the old general last night. How could he not agree when he heard Lin Bai’s words?

“You can bring anything you want! Just go! Don’t worry, Wu Yue and Wei Feng know the army better than me.”

Wu Yue’s expression was dark.

“You’ll get injured in this competition! It’s not something a student should enter!”

This was the first time Wu Yue had contradicted the Dean and even expressed his strong dissatisfaction. Wei Feng also expressed some disapproval.

It was obvious that he understood the nature of this competition.

Lin Bai raised his eyebrows.

Injured?

That means that it is not an ordinary competition.

No wonder he saw Wu Yue’s unhappy expression the moment he entered.

He knew Wu Yue and Wei Feng. They looked strict on the surface, but they were actually most concerned about the safety of their students.

The two of them treated him as their Captain when the team was out on a mission. However, they still treated him as a student in school.

Lin Bai’s heart warmed.

He looked up at Wu Yue and comforted him.

“Don’t worry, I’ll protect you. I won’t let you get hurt.”

A look of shock appeared in Wu Yue’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by worry.

“Lin Bai, Captain, I’m not afraid of getting injured!”

He had long disregarded life and death after so many battles with the Origin Beasts.

However, he was worried that this was clearly unfair to Lin Bai and the others.

Lin Bai didn’t say anything. He just smiled and pointed at the statue on the bookshelf behind the Dean.

“Dean, can I borrow this?”

The Dean nodded.

He looked at Lin Bai curiously. “Use it as you will. What do you want to do with it?”

Lin Bai looked up at the Dean and smiled at him. “I’ve cashed up a new superpower. I want everyone to see it.”

After saying that, he immediately raised his hand and chanted an incantation, pointing at the statue!

The statue immediately flew out and landed steadily in Lin Bai’s hand. Lin Bai reached out and swiped, and the statue immediately left his hand and ran straight towards Wu Yue.

Wu Yue sidestepped and reached out to stop it instinctively!

However, the statue changed paths with Lin Bai’s gesture and charged towards Wu Yue again. The statue’s hand bumped slightly and almost pressed Wu Yue’s neck.

Wu Yue looked at Lin Bai in disbelief. Lin Bai immediately retracted his hand and placed the statue firmly on the desk. He sounded confident as he spoke to Wu Yue. “Do you believe me now? I believe those people in the army don’t have this ability, right?”

Wu Yue immediately fell silent for a moment before finally raising his head and saying solemnly to Lin Bai, “Special team member Wu Yue will obey Captain Lin Bai’s arrangements!” This meant that he tacitly agreed with Lin Bai’s decision.

The Dean looked at Lin Bai expectantly. His voice was filled with excitement and urging. “Lin Bai, this is really a very good opportunity.

You can’t miss it!”

“Moreover, regardless of the outcome, I will fulfill one of your wishes when you return as long as you participate in this competition!”

“Anything you want!” Lin Bai smiled.

How much pressure had the Dean been under to be so eager for him to participate in the competition?

Lin Bai nodded.

“Don’t worry, Dean. I won’t disappoint you.”

The Dean was extremely impatient after Lin Bai promised him. He directly transferred a new laptop for Lin Bai to bring along with him. This was a special portable notebook. He even personally sent the seven of them to the chartered car, as if he was afraid that they would go back on their word.

After Lin Bai and the others set off, the Dean turned on his phone and told the old general about their departure. The old General was his teacher, so he had no choice but to agree to his teacher’s request.

In the conference room of the Marina Metropolis Barracks.

The old General focused slightly and glanced at the phone screen indifferently. “They’re here. Take a good look.”

“Let’s see how capable they are!”
