She allowed him to have a lover as long as he didn’t get caught.

However, she felt bad when she saw Vihani clinging to him, saying that she liked to be his lover.

Cassian, who was about to get up from his chair, stopped moving and stared down at her.

His persistent gaze felt burdensome, but Yernia was firmer.

“You’re sure that you aren’t close with Vihani, right?” She asked.

Yernia hated how she was speaking to him informally that only she had the privilege to but she didn’t want to appear childish, either.

“Are you jealous, Yernia?”

Yena was startled for a moment.

Jealousy?

“Jealous?”

Was it really jealousy?

She wasn’t sure but her blunt question did embarrass her.

Vihani annoyed Yernia.

She didn’t like that she was too friendly  and clingy to Cassian.

In addition to that, addressing her husband informally was a no-no because only she could do that.

Was this feeling called jealousy?

How confusing!

Yernia had never felt jealous in her life.

Was it because she had never been so greedy about something or someone?

Why would she think she was jealous just because she didn’t want Vihani to approach Cassian?

Yerrnia seriously pondered.

Unexpectedly, she was able to find immediate answers to her concerns.

***

Yernia woke up from the bed, blinking.

Last night, she had a headache due to her jealous emotions and she fell asleep on the chair without knowing it.

Was she able to sleep because she was exhausted from not being able to sleep?

When she opened her eyes again, she was already on the bed.

She glanced at the window and realized it was already dark outside.

Night came.

“Cassian, I’m thirsty.”

Her soft words pried her trembling lips apart.

She felt heavy from sleeping for quite some time.

Her surroundings were still as she waited for a while but there was no response.

Where did he go?

Cassian was the only person who could settle her on their marriage bed so she thought he would be around.

She was alone in the room, instead.

“What should I prepare for you, my Lady?”

“I want to drink water.”

Yernia exited her bedroom and sat in front of the table as the butler served her the drink.

Yernia’s eyes searched for Cassian as she dampened her prickly throat with the clear liquid.

He wasn’t here nor there.

Cassian might as well be missing in action.

As all the passengers on the ship were acquainted, she checked the inside of the cabin but they were all empty.

Where was everyone?

Yernia, who was walking around like a ghost, bumped her face on Jennan’s chest when he exited the last room.

Oh!

This was Jennan’s room!

“Who are you looking for?”

“No one. I was just roaming around.”

Yernia wondered why she was looking for Cassian when she didn’t even have anything to say to him.

“I’m about to go out and drink champagne. Do you want to join me? You can drink something that doesn’t contain any alcohol.”

“I can drink alcohol. I prefer it strong.”

“Oh. Do you drink well?”

“I’ll show you how well I can drink. Let’s go.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Jennan said he brought five types of champagne and Yernia wanted to try them all.

Yernia got excited as she imagined herself drinking champagne while staring at the sea.

“Who else?  The Marquis will not drink?”

“Yes. Sleep. Cassian likes to sleep a lot.”

“Oh. How about Lady Vihani?”

“I don’t know. I had no idea where she is.”

They picked a table for two and Yernia sat on the chair first.

Jennan poured champagne from the first bottle on their glasses.

They still had four more champagne to taste.

Usually, she would have been excited to enjoy the champagne, but Yernia kept thinking about Cassian’s whereabouts instead of focusing on its taste.

Jennan told her he didn’t see Vihani anywhere, either.

Suddenly, she had a bad feeling.

“You don’t even like her!”

Of course, a bad foreboding wouldn’t necessarily mean it would be a mess.

But then, Yernia heard a chirpy voice at the corner not too far from the table where she and Jennan sat face to face.

She also heard a familiar baritone of an irritated man but she couldn’t understand what they were talking about since their conversations weren’t that loud.

Still, Yernia noticed right away that it was Cassian and Vihani.

“I looked into everything. I didn’t understand why a fate would appear to you from out of the blue.”

Yernia’s body moved before without thinking as she approached the sound of their voices.

Jennan said something, but her nerves were all over the place.

Vihani said something similar at Yernia’s wedding.

“I told you not to address me informally.”

“Is that important now? There’s something far more important that we should talk about.”

As she turned a corner, Yernia hesitated the instant she saw Cassian and Vihani right in front of her.

Retreating in silence, she leaned her back against the wall to hide.

Why are the two of them together again?

It was the perfect secret meeting, except that Vihani was angry whereas Cassian was cold.

That’s what it looked like to Yernia right now.

Yernia observed the two.

“Do you know her? You….”

Vihani was stunned, speechless, when Cassian grabbed her arm and pulled her toward him.

His hand gently tucked the stray strands behind her ear as his lips dipped on its soft shell.

Yernia turned around and got out of there.
