79 Something's Happening

I stare at the grapes with a mix of wonder and fear. That's new... Kian walks over and stops behind me, leaning over to look at the grapes. Ambrose is full of delight as he says "See? You're alive... you make everything alive... you have life!"

I stare at him with a perplexed look on my face as I hand him the grapes. He takes them carefully and holds them against his chest while making a cooing noise. I stand up and take a step back as I look down at my hands.

I lift my right hand and use my magic to cut my palm. Pearly white blood seeps out of my hand and falls down to the floor. Kian sucks in and grabs my wrist. He uses his magic to seal the cut and says "Never do that in front of others. Never, do you understand?"

I turn to look at him with confusion and ask "Why? What's going on? Why is my blood suddenly white? Is it a demon after effect or something?" He quickly shakes his head a looks past me. I turn to find Ambrose licking my blood off the floor!!

He lifts his head and goes to say something when his eyes suddenly roll back and he falls over! "Shit!" I quickly go to his side and go to feel for a pulse before freezing. Vampires don't have pulses... I bring my fingers up to his nose to feel for a breath when he suddenly bits into my arm!

He latches onto my arm and digs his teeth in deep. I grit my teeth in pain but when I hear Kian moving closer, I quickly turn to him and yell "Don't kill him!" Kian's hand is lifted in the air, covered in black energy that drips to the floor like a dark liquid.

The dark liquid energy burns through the floor like acid, shocking me as I flinch in pain. I quickly turn back to Ambrose to see that his eyes are completely white. He pulls deeply from me, making me cringe as I lift a finger and place it on his forehead.

"Sorry..." I say before sending a pulse of magic straight into him. He flies back into the broken refrigerator door and passes out. I look down at my arm and see that his teeth have ripped my arm up pretty bad when he flew back.

Using my magic, I focus on my arm and watch as my arm starts to heal but I can't take my eyes off the white blood. Kian quickly goes to my sink and turns on the water before looking through my cabinets. I watch him with confusion and stand up asking "What are you looking for?"

He continues going through them until he grabs a large popcorn bowl and walks back over to the sink. He starts filling the bowl before saying "Wash all the blood off." I stand still in confusion and ask "What the hell is going on Kian? What are you doing?"

He walks over and gently grabs my arm before walking me back over to the sink. He pulls my arm over the sink and uses the water to wash my arm off. Once I'm clean, he grabs the bowl and walks over to the spot where my blood dripped on the floor.

He throws the whole bowl of water on the floor, soaking everything, including Ambrose! "What the hell, Kian!?" He walks back over to the sink and starts filling up the bowl again as he says "Queen Cara's blood was white like this and whenever she bled, she would have us all quickly wipe it down. She always said 'It's like a beacon. It will draw them in, hurry, get rid of it all before they come.' I have no idea who or what she was talking about but I've never seen her so worried and scared before."

He grabs the second bowl and splashes it all over the floor again, making the largest mess I've ever seen. Still in shock, I turn to him and say "I have easier ways of getting rid of the blood... but thank you." He places the bowl in the sink and turns the water off as he says "I had to hurry... she always had to hurry."

I look back down at my newly healed arm and try to understand. So... this is Queen Cara's gift? Her blood... I look back to the plump grapes on the ground as I slowly start making connections. She gave me this gift... but why? This is a dangerous gift! If this would fall into the wrong hands... Is she insane!?

"This isn't a gift..." I mumble to myself in disbelief as Kian walks over to me. He gently touches my arm, inspecting it before asking "Are you okay?" I numbly nod my head as I say "I think I need to sit down for a minute."

Instead of bringing me a damn chair like a normal person, he lifts me up and carries me over to the table before placing me in a chair. He kneels before me and pushes my hair back away from my face and says "No matter what you're thinking, I'm here. I don't know what Queen Cara was so terrified over but I promise not to let anything happen to you."

That snaps me out of my daze as I look to him and say "No, you've done enough for me Kian. This time, I'll be the one keeping you safe. No matter what." I hear a lock click before the front door opens. We both turn to look when we hear "What the hell? Eris??"

Xander walks into the kitchen with a look of fear on his face but when he sees Ambrose, the wall, and the huge mess, he turns to see that I'm perfectly fine. He slowly walks in and says "Did you two kill the vampire?" The house must have let him in...

I snort and say "No, he's just... well, I don't think I killed him." We all turn to look at Ambrose's unmoving body. Shit... I get up to go check on him but Kian pushes me back into the seat and says "You stay here. The last time you checked on him, he nearly took your arm off."

Xander growls at that and asks "What the hell happened??" As I fill Xander in, Kian squats next to Ambrose and checks for breathing. He turns to me and says "He's not breathing." My face blanks as I ask "Do vampires breathe?"

Xander blinks before chuckling and saying "Move demon, I will check the vampire." Kian arches a dark brow at Xander and steps back saying "He's all yours Loverboy." Xander bears his teeth at Kian as he walks over and kicks Ambrose's leg.

He looks back to me and says "Looks like he's alive. Well, as alive as he can get for a vampire." Suddenly, Ambrose starts convulsing, scaring all of us as he starts shaking like he's having a seizure!
