Chapter 1478 - : Has He Gone Mad?

His mind was in a mess as he made his way to the hospital. He merely wished for Nian Xi to be safe and for her to tide over her critical condition.

He could not understand why she would be gone so abruptly.

She had called him the previous morning to get him to buy tickets for a movie that she liked, which would premiere in two days.

He had already bought the tickets.

Now that she was gone, there was nobody left to watch the movie with.

Jiang Yuning seemed lost.

He was in disbelief, and he felt that everyone was lying to him. In the next instant, he turned around and left without another word.

Murong Cheng found his behavior baffling. “Hey, hang on! Where are you going?” she asked.

However, despite calling after him for a long time, Jiang Yuning did not even bother answering her.

Nian Junting and Nian Junlei were making their way towards the ward when they suddenly spotted Jiang Yuning walking towards them. He scuffled anxiously, and his footsteps were in a rush. His face was pale as if he had been dealt with a blow. There was a dazed, hollow look in his eyes, and he merely charged forward without glancing at them.

Niang Junting frowned. He was expecting Jiang Yuning to greet him, but Jiang Yuning merely brushed past them as if he did not see them.

Nian Junting instantly flew into a rage and immediately grabbed Jiang Yuning’s elbow. “Where are you going?! Let’s not talk about how we couldn’t even reach you when Nian Xi was sent to the hospital. At the very least, shouldn’t you greet us when you see us?!”

Niang Junting would brush this off in the past since he was aware of Jiang Yuning’s condition. However, after Jiang Yuning began dating Nian Xi, he had opened up more since then. He would even smile whenever he saw them. Thus, his current behavior made Nian Junting furious.

Jiang Yuning merely continued to walk on without looking at him. His white lab coat was already torn in half.

“Jiang Yuning!” Nian Junting immediately yanked him over. “What’s wrong with you?”

Jiang Yuning forcefully pushed his arm away and pursed his lips together. There was still a vacant expression in his eyes.

Nian Junlei bit his tongue as he watched Jiang Yuning. “Has he gone mad?”

“Let go of me,” Jiang Yuning finally spoke up. However, his voice was very soft.

“Where would you be going if I were to let you go?” Nian Junting was relentless. “I won’t allow Nian Xi to be with you if you keep up with this nonsense!”

“Let go of me…” Jiang Yuning merely repeated himself.

“Can’t you understand what I’m saying?!” Nian Junting roared out in frustration.

Jiang Yuning continued to ignore him and stubbornly insisted on leaving, but Nian Junting was unwilling to let go of his elbow. Just then, Jiang Yuning whipped his head back and began to breathe heavily. There was a cold, unfathomable expression in his eyes, which seemed to be as deep as a bottomless pit. “Let me say this again. Let go of me.”

Even though Nian Junting had weathered many storms before, he too felt a sudden sense of chill.

Just then, he suddenly heard Luosang speak from behind. “Junting, what are you guys doing?”

“Sister-in-law, this dude… He’s completely insane!” When Nian Junlei turned around, he saw Luosang heading towards them with Nian Xi. Nian Xi was lying on the hospital bed and was being pushed over. There was a look of puzzlement in her listless eyes as she watched them.

Nian Junting released his grip, and Jiang Yuning immediately walked away. As he brushed past Luosang, she called out to him, but he showed no response. Eventually, Nian Xi feebly called out his name, “Jiang Yuning…”

His tall, straight back instantly stiffened, and when he turned around to look towards the direction of the voice, he saw Nian Xi lying quietly on the hospital bed. Although she looked wan and haggard, her fair face and attractive features still looked beautiful and upright.

He let out a soft gasp, and his eyes widened as he slowly made his way towards her. He nervously reached out his hand and touched her cheeks lightly and uneasily. “Xixi, is this your soul that I’m seeing?” he asked gently.

Nian Xi fell silent.

Luosang looked around them and shivered. Coincidentally, her husband walked over, and she quickly went to him and cozied up against his chest.
