Gao Wanhua had taken Enoch to the sofa to watch TV. Qiao Yu, Xia Ning, Mu Zichen, and Wen Yue were left behind at the dinner table.

Xia Ning was still amazed by Wen Yue’s background. She and Wen Yue grew up together. Wen Yue might seem like a carefree, unrestrained girl, but deep down, she was sensitive and felt a sense of inferiority. Wen Yue was surprised to hear that from Wen Yue today.

Mu Zichen’s voice woke Xia Ning up from her reverie. She realized that Wen Yue was different now, for the latter used to resent her mother and her father’s irresponsibility, which resulted in her mother being despised by her employer.

But Wen Yue was no longer resentful now, for she had a loved one and she was going to have a baby. She had learned to be grateful, as well as forgiveness.

At the end of the day, what happened between her and Mu Zichen was no more than a fling, but it had made her dream come true. They were going to have a baby together and they were getting married.

That was why she chose to share her secret with her loved one today. She trusted him completely.

Xia Ning looked at Mu Zichen, realizing that he was trying to switch the subject for Wen Yue.

But what was she supposed to talk about? Her life abroad?

“Don’t bother. There isn’t much to talk about, anyway. We’re almost done eating.” Wen Yue said all of a sudden. “Let’s clean the table and watch the Spring Festival Gala together. By the way, Asteria, any chance we’ll see your face at the gala any time soon?”

“Of course we can watch it in a moment. As for taking part in it, it’s not going to be that easy. I won’t have the time anyway!” Xia Ning chuckled when she saw the look Wen Yue gave her. “If Young Master Mu is really curious, I’ll tell you about my past.”

Qiao Yu still had the chopsticks in one hand and he paused at those words. His eyes flickered when he looked at Xia Ning.

“A nice family took me in after I left China. They were wealthy people. They sent me to college, gave me generous allowances, and treated me like their own. But I guess I just had the restless and rebellious genes in me and I hardly learned anything during the time I was abroad. I raced cars, drank, played too many video games, and smoked. I’ve dabbled in pretty much all the bad habits out there. I don’t know where I would be now if I didn’t have a little wit.” Xia Ning chuckled. “Come to think of it, I was such a trouble-maker back then.”

Wen Yue glanced at Xia Ning, then looked away. She went back to her food.

“So meeting Alex was your turning point. You became who you are because of him. How romantic!” Resting his face on his hands, Mu Zichen winked at Qiao Yu. “Alex must have been so irresistible when he was in college! He was able to charm a troubled teenager back on the right track.”

Xia Ning frowned and looked embarrassed. She snorted. “I won’t put it that way. What do you mean by ‘a troubled teenager back on the right track? It wasn’t like I killed anybody!”

Qiao Yu glanced at Mu Zichen. “You’re jealous of me. Just admit it. I have a woman, who’s willing to change for me and stay with me no matter what. After all, you used to say that you wanted a docile, gentle wife that would never say no to you.”

“Like hell I’m jealous of you!” Mu Zichen said immediately. “I…” He was cut off all of a sudden.

“So that’s your thing, Mu Zichen. Docile and never say no?! I’ve disappointed you, haven’t I?” Wen Yue gritted her teeth. “Sorry about that. My apologies!”
