With Wen Yue around, Mu Zichen couldn’t enjoy his drinks like he used to.

However, it was Chinese New Year’s Eve and he could have a casual drink.

“Asteria, do you want a drink?” Wen Yue suddenly said to Xia Ning, who had kept her silence.

Xia Ning looked up at Wen Yue with a frown. “You’re pregnant. You shouldn’t be drinking.”

“I know. Mu Zichen will drink it for me.” Wen Yue smiled at Xia Ning. “This is the first Chinese New Year you spend at home after so many years and I think we should at least have some fun.”

Xia Ning eyed Wen Yue, still frowning, and she said nothing in return.

Mu Zichen quickly handed Xia Ning a glass. “Here, Sister-in-law, have some. I know you can hold your liquor well.” He then poured some wine for her.

Before Xia Ning could speak, Qiao Yu interjected. “She can’t drink!”

“But why?” Mu Zichen looked at Qiao Yu in bewilderment. “Is Xia Ning pregnant too?” The question surprised even himself and he looked at Xia Ning’s belly.

Gao Wanhua and Wen Yue seemed baffled as well. Both looked at Xia Ning, then shifted their gazes on her belly.

Qiao Yu didn’t seem to hear that at all and went on putting food into Xia Ning’s plate.

Xia Ning glanced at Qiao Yu and wondered why he remained this calm. Was he trying to mislead the others?

“Grandma, what’s Uncle Mu and Auntie Wen talking about?” Enoch asked all of a sudden as he looked from Xia Ning to Qiao Yu.

Wen Yue smiled, then replied. “Enoch, you’re going to become a big brother!”

Enoch’s eyes lit up. He then turned to Xia Ning. “A sister? Mummy, are you giving me a sister?”

What sister?! The corner of Xia Ning’s mouth twitched when she saw the expectant look on her son’s face. She was baffled by the two men that had started this. Those two were confusing Enoch.

After some thought, she picked up the wine and downed it in one go.

“Wow! I’m impressed!” Mu Zichen applauded.

Seeing this, Wen Yue slapped Mu Zichen lightly on the shoulder. She then turned to Xia Ning. “Asteria, aren’t you pregnant?”

“Says who?!” Xia Ning looked at Wen Yue’s stomach and smiled. “Has the pregnancy made you dumb? Would I drink alcohol if I’m having a baby?! You can’t make up stories about such a thing!”

Qiao Yu glanced at Xia Ning, then put some more food on her plate.

“Haha, I was just messing with you.” Mu Zichen laughed. After glancing at Qiao Yu, who was opposite him, he thought it was time to switch the subject, for he had noticed that Alex’s face had darkened.

To some extent, he could understand Alex’s mentality. The guy was obviously trying to secure Xia Ning with a baby. After all, he cared a lot more about Xia Ning than the other way around.

However, the first to fall in love would become the passive one. There was no doubt that Qiao Yu was in love, but one couldn’t say the same about Xia Ning.

Once they started drinking, they couldn’t stop. Since there was nothing much they could talk about over dinner, they started talking about their past.

Mu Zichen’s parents were Chinese Americans and he grew up in the US. He and Qiao Yu met during a conference and Qiao Yu ended up recruiting him into Shengshi Group. The two of them grew to become buddies.

After Mu Zichen finished, the focus shifted to Wen Yue and they waited for her to share stories about her past.

Wen Yue was glad to share. Putting down the chopsticks, she said with a smile. “I grew up in the UK and my mother was a maid of an affluent family. As for my father, I don’t know who he is. I’m the product of a one night stand.”

All eyes were on Wen Yue. They were obviously surprised by how open she was. People who grew up in a western country did behave differently from those brought up here.

Mu Zichen didn’t know Wen Yue had been brought up in such a family. There was something so elegant and unattainable about her that no one would think she had such a background.

“So, it’s my sister-in-law’s turn. I remember you grew up abroad too!” Mu Zichen looked at Xia Ning.
