Suddenly meeting Qiao Yu’s soft gaze, Xia Ning was a bit surprised. She moved her eyes away at once and said to Enoch, “If you are awake, let’s go down and have dinner.”

“Ok.” Enoch nodded.

Xia Ning was ready to carry him from the bed but Qiao Yu on the side grabbed her arm and said in a deep voice, “Let me.” Then he looked at Enoch and said, “You are too heavy. Your Mummy can’t hold you.”

“I’m not heavy. Mummy, Daddy is blaming me for eating too much!” Enoch looked at Xia Ning with dissatisfaction.

Xia Ning let him go and watched Qiao Yu holding Enoch. She stood up as well and said to Enoch with a smile, “How come? You are not heavy at all. Mummy just does not have enough strength.”

Seeing Qiao Yu walking ahead of her with Enoch, suddenly she realized what felt weird before. Qiao Yu, Enoch and her were too much like a family!

Family?! Xia Ning frowned a little. That word sounded normal but she felt that it was so unfamiliar. Perhaps, she had not had this feeling for too long and for a moment just now, she was immersed in it.

After they got down the stairs, Gao Wanhua looked at Enoch who was sitting next to Xia Ning and said with a smile, “Mummy is here and you don’t want Grandma anymore. You little pumpkin!”

“No. I want Mummy and I want Grandma too! Grandma’s the best!” Enoch looked at Gao Wanhua and said sweetly. “I’m sitting with Mummy today and with Grandma tomorrow.”

Gao Wanhua looked at Enoch’s little face and shook her head with a smile. “Fine, tomorrow you are sitting with me. I’m not fighting over you with your Mummy today.”

Xia Ning put the bowl of congee for Enoch on the table, scooped some out and blew on it a little. She then tried the temperature of the congee before she finally fed him some.

Enoch opened his mouth and ate it at once. He made some noise in his mouth and his eyes were fixed on Xia Ning’s face.

Xia Ning saw him staring at her and said with a smile, “Why are you staring at me? Do I have flowers on my face?”

“Mummy, you are so pretty. No wonder Daddy likes Mummy!” Enoch said with a smile. “I like Mummy too.”

The smile on Xia Ning’s face froze for a second. She darted a look at Qiao Yu who was across her and Qiao Yu was looking at her too, his eyes filled with something she has come to know pretty well lately.

She took back her gaze and said to Enoch with a smile, “How do you know what’s pretty and what’s not? You little bear. Eat your food.” As she spoke, she fed him another spoon of congee.

Enoch looked at Xia Ning and wanted to say something. But because of the food in his mouth, he could not say anything.

Gao Wanhua saw Xia Ning’s gentle look and turned to her son who was like a piece of wood. She felt a bit helpless in her heart. He was just like his Father, not even as good as a kid when it came to sweet-talking.

After dinner, Xia Ning was hugging Enoch on the sofa while watching TV. Enoch’s eyes were fixed on the TV screen.

Xia Ning did not grow up watching cartoons. She had merely watched them a couple of times with Enoch. Now, she felt surprisingly interested.

Gao Wanhua asked the servants to cut some fruits. She sat on the sofa next to them and watched the mother and the son watching the cartoon together. She sighed in her heart. Obviously, kids still need their mothers.

Qiao Yu went up to the study on the third floor to work after dinner.

Around 9 o’clock, Enoch felt sleepy. Xia Ning sent him up to go to bed. Just after she tucked him in bed and turned around to get ready for a shower, she saw Qiao Yu coming in with a blanket.
