Chapter 193: You Think You Can Buy Me off with One Yuan?

Yue Tingfeng and Jiang Lai were both flabbergasted. A crowd started to form around them as Xiao Xu quickly tried to calm Yan Qingsi down. “Calm down sister, calm down… You’re a superstar, and the whole set is watching. If this gets onto the web it’s going to be really bad.”

Yan Qingsi shrugged off Xiao Xu, “I can’t afford to worry about that now.”

Her eyes were simmering with fiery rage, a fire so hot it could burn Yue Tingfeng to death. “The check, give it to me. Now.”

Yue Tingfeng suppressed a laugh and signaled to Jiang Lai. Jiang Lai quickly took out the check and handed it over to her, his hands shaking slightly.

“Pen.” Yan Qingsi ordered, snatching over the check.

Jiang Lai fished out a pen and thoughtfully removed the cap before passing it to her.

Yan Qingsi swiftly filled in a string of zeros. She could not be bothered to look at exactly how many zeros she wrote and did not bother counting either. She tore out the check and stuffed it into Xiao Xu’s hands. “Hold it for me.”

Looking at all the zeros she added, Xiao Xu’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets. ‘This is just…’

Yan Qingsi tossed the remaining checkbook back to Yue Tingfeng. “Do you take me for a stalk of onion? You wanted to buy me for one yuan? Why don’t you rob instead? At least it would’ve cost you nothing,” she remarked.

“You tried to send me away with just two yuan too,” Yue Tingfeng added innocently.

Yan Qingsi smirked before saying, “How could that compare? I gave you two yuan. That’s two times more than what you offered, you scrooge.”

Yue Tingfeng was speechless.

What was the difference between two yuan and one yuan? Ahh, apparently it is two times the amount of money!

Jiang Lai hurriedly tried to defuse the situation. “Miss Qingsi, this can’t all be blamed on Mr. Yue. Mr. Yue gave Miss Mai the checkbook and asked her to write any amount she wanted, and it was Miss Mai who only wrote one yuan.”

Yan Qingsi clenched her teeth so tightly she almost broke all her teeth. “That silly woman still wants to talk integrity in moments like this? No matter how worthless she thinks her studio is, I should be worth at least something, shouldn’t I? Who am I? I am Yan Qingsi. I got the looks. I got the figure. I got the acting chops. I’m the complete package and she sold me for one yuan? If word of this got out, how am I going to stay in this industry?”

Yue Tingfeng got up and straightened his messed-up shirt, tossing the checkbook back to Jiang Lai. “The way you quote your value, you don’t sound like a new employee at all. You sound more like the lady boss instead!”

Yan Qingsi looked at him out of the corner of her eyes and said, “Lady boss would have been too easy for you. Now that you have this new employee, you can go to sleep and have fun on your own at night then.”

However, Yan Qingsi had a sudden inspiration. Giving Yue Tingfeng a once-over, she purred, “Although… The position of the lady boss is something… I’m pretty interested in.”

Yue Tingfeng reached out and pulled her chin towards him. “Then, by all means, work hard for your dream! It’s not impossible to work your way up from employee to lady boss,” he shot back suggestively.

Yan Qingsi pushed his arm away. ” Come with me, I have something to tell you.”

The two of them made their way to a secluded spot on set. Yan Qingsi put on a serious face and started, “Well, since you’re my boss now anyway, better use you while I can. Help me look up a person.”

“Who’s that?”

“I’ll text you the exact details after I’m done with shooting today.”

“Why all the mystery?”

Yan Qingsi took a step forward, her body almost touching Yue Tingfeng’s. “Don’t ask why I’m doing it, and don’t ask what I’m doing. All you have to do is look up where that person is. You don’t have to know the rest, and I won’t tell you either.”

Yue Tingfeng leaned into Yan Qingsi, looming over her. He said, “You think I can’t dig the truth up my own even if you don’t want to tell me?”

Yan Qingsi gave him a dispassionate laugh. “Go ahead and dig if you want, but a gentle reminder, curiosity isn’t always a pleasant thing.”

Yue Tingfeng gazed into her eyes, and down onto her still slightly-bleeding lips, and suddenly his mood got better. “Alright, I’ll help you. Take it as a welcome gift for a new employee.”
