Chapter 185: Betraying a Friend for the Sake of a Girl

Jiang Lai twitched his lips. ‘How much more outrageous can you be?’

One dollar. Why was it that Yan Qingsi and the people around her love using just one dollar to send people off?

Yue Tingfeng remarked while walking, “Make sure you keep an eye on Yan Ruke.”

Yan Ruke was the kind of woman Yue Tingfeng hated. Everyone knew how trashy she was. She pretended to be pure, tender, and virtuous, but no one had any idea how she would retaliate against Yan Qingsi.

Jiang Lai answered, “Yes!”

He hesitated for a moment, then asked, “CEO Yue, how are you going to reply to Mr. Helan?”

Yue Tingfeng halted his footsteps. “Keep dragging it out.”

Jiang Lai could not help but say, “But CEO Yue, soon… Sooner or later, he’ll find out.”

Yue Tingfeng was not bothered by that possibility at all. “Then let him find out.”

Sometimes, when the circumstances require it, one must betray a brother.

Yue Tingfeng could not be bothered about anything else. After all, Yan Qingsi was already in his hands. It was a race against time for him and Helan Fangnian.

Jiang Lai was dumbfounded.

As they walked, Yue Tingfeng paused once again.

“CEO Yue, what’s going on?”

Yue Tingfeng pulled a long face. “Was there a clause in the contract that prohibits Yan Qingsi from hyping up sex scandals?”

Jiang Lai shook his head. “I don’t think… there was any mention of that.”

“Add that clause in the contract. I don’t want to hear something similar to Jin Xuechu’s sex scandal ever again.”

Anxious, Jiang Lai said, “But, the contract is already signed, this… It isn’t good to secretly change the terms…”

Yue Tingfeng’s cool gaze swept across him. “What if I insist?”

Jiang Lai caved in to the pressure. “Okay… I’ll find a way.”

“Why are you here?” Yan Qingsi was duly surprised to see the person standing in front of her. She finished shooting her scenes and came down to rest, but someone already sat on her chair and ate the fruits that Xiao Xu had prepared for her.

Jin Xuechu took off his sunglasses. “To ramp up our sex scandal.”

Yan Qingsi cocked an eyebrow. “Speaking of which, I’m grateful that you helped me this time. Otherwise, I would have been drowned out by all that slander.”

Jin Xuechu looked up and down Yan Qingsi and said, “Don’t be silly. They can drown out everyone else, but not you. That picture of yours has been photoshopped into a meme. Even I want to call you my Queen now.”

Xiao Xu took a chair and placed it beside Jin Xuechu so Yan Qingsi could sit down.

The photo she posted a day earlier—the one with her being all aloof and looking down at everything—had been turned into a meme. All sorts of interesting words and sentences accompanied the picture, like ‘Contempt’, ‘Cool’, and even ‘B*tch ain’t playin’ with ya!’. With Jin Xuechu letting their supposed sex scandal simmer away, the smear campaign had been thwarted successfully. Yan Qingsi’s microblog was then flooded with comments requesting more pictures.

Thus, the first wave of premeditated slander failed to drag Yan Qingsi’s name down.

She drank some water and asked, “Are you releasing your new album soon?”

“Yep, it’s going to be released next month. About that, I hyped up my album with the help of all the nasty comments made about you.”

“Stop kidding. Does God Xue really need my help with publicity? The whole world knows that you’ve never used a woman to boost your reputation throughout your whole career.”

Jin Xuechu was a very arrogant man. The reason for his success was wholly because of his extraordinary talent and personal charm.

He abhorred all those lowly methods of promoting himself, and on that occasion, he did what he did purely because he wanted to help her.

“Thank you,” Yan Qingsi said to Jin Xuechu.

All of a sudden, Jin Xuechu took a piece of dragon fruit and placed it before Yan Qingsi’s mouth. “If you really want to thank me, then would do me the honor of eating this piece of fruit?”
