Right after taking the car into a complete stop and pulling over at the side of the road, Zhang Chenric unbuckled his seatbelt and quickly went down the car to transfer to the backseat beside Wang Reiji.

Seeing that the man was on his way to her, Wang Reiji swiftly moved her hands to unbuckle her seatbelt. But no matter how hard she tried to press the button, it won't release the strap. She then decided to take cut the seatbelt. Just when she had reached out for the tactical knife hidden underneath her pants, Zhang Chenric was already inside the car. Wang Reiji then pointed the knife to Zhang Chenric's throat instead of using it to free herself from the seatbelt.

"Don't you dare move closer or I will shove this knife straight to your neck!" Wang Reiji roared as she placed the cold knife under Zhang Chenric's chin.

Zhang Chenric was slightly taken aback by Wang Reiji's threat but he was quick to recover. He then moved closer and looked straight into the woman's eyes.

"For five years, Yin... Did your love for me turned to hate in just a matter of five years?" Zhang Chenric's lips then carved into a faint smile.

"You let all the negativities took over your heart as if you did not even fight for the love you had for me." Zhang Chenric spoke as his faint smile slowly turned bitter.

"Shut up! You betrayed me! You left me when I needed you most. How can I still hold on to love after all of that?!" Wang Reiji's yell was pain-filled.

"I did not leave you. I just needed some space and time to think thoroughly on what to do. And why are you accusing me of sending you to prison? I will never do that to the one I love." Zhang Chenric was still wearing a bitter smile on his lips.

"Come on, Prosecutor Zhang! You needed all the space and time so you can lay your perfect plan to get me to prison! You probably thought that I have nobody left to help me! Sadly, you thought wrong!"

"For heaven's sake, Yin! Did you really think that my love for you was that shallow?" Zhang Chenric asked, seemingly hurt of Wang Reiji's accusation.

"How can I believe you? You did not show up on the day we were supposed to meet! I waited for you for almost half a day... And when the night fell, the cops arrived and they surrounded me! They were all over the place. Did you know how devastated I was?!" Wang Reiji's words spat out with much loathe towards Zhang Chenric.

"I always thought you will protect me. That you will take care of me. But when everything went down the drain, you were the very first one to leave my side." A painful memory from the past, that was all it took for Wang Reiji to burst forth in tears.

"I really don't know what you are talking about. Just what I said, I did not file a lawsuit against you. Why would I put the person I want to protect behind bars? And besides, I don't have time for that! As what I had I told you earlier, someone purposely removed my father's life support that I had to transfer him to a different hospital to secure his life." Zhang Chenric calmly replied as he threw a quick glance at the knife poking his chin, seemingly waiting for the perfect timing to take the knife from Wang Reiji's grip.

"Lies! Stop feeding me lies!" The hand that held the knife against Zhang Chenric's skin shook asWang Reiji's voice trembled in anger.

"You need to calm down, Yin. Get yourself together. We both know that you are better than this."

"Shut up! Stop calling me Yin! Everything seemed easy for you because you weren't betrayed! You did the betrayal!"

Without batting his eyes, Zhang Chenric stared straight at Wang Reiji's face. He then took a deep breath before his hands held her hand that was holding the tactical knife against his chin. He then said,

"Will my death make you happy? Won't you be hurting anymore when I'm gone? I may not know how much you endured during the times when we're apart from each other. But if my death ends your agony, please feel free to take my life. I just have one request though, let our daughter know that I am her father and that I love her. I love you."

Wang Reiji then clutched the knife tighter, it was as if she was drawing strength from it. She then stared at Zhang Chenric's eyes as her heart and mind started to process the words that came out from the man's mouth. She then recalled their happy times together, the ones that kept her fighting, the ones that had kept her alive throughout these years. And at that moment,Wang Reiji realized that she no longer knew how she felt. She was now torn between her rage and the sweetness of their memories that she thought she had buried deep down her heart.
