65 I'sm The Man Here

The instant Wang Reiji had recognized the folder, she felt like a strong impact had knocked every molecule of air from her lungs as she stood in front of him, stunned, unable to speak.

She knew she had to talk to Wang Yuvin about the Pínqiông Village fire sooner or later. But this was just too soon. Moreover, she had no plans of involving Wang Yuvin in her pursuit of the past. He had grieved too many times after his parents' death. Let that be enough, let her shoulder all hisburden instead. For if she allowed him to be involved, it was just like opening his old wounds and making him remember every painful memory.

"You don't have to be that worried about me. I didn't survive dangerous missions just to run away in the end." Wang Yuvin smiled bitterly as his grip on the folder tightened.

"I want to shed light on what happened that night. I want to know the truth, please. I want closure.I want to move on." Wang Yuvin's eyes dripped with tears as the walls that held him up all these years have just collapsed. He tried to stifle his sobs in an attempt to hide his emotions, but the waves of tears were too strong that all his defences were completely washed away.

Five years ago he was a nobody. A country lad whose clothes were mostly pre-owned. He only had two pairs of shoes, one pair was so worn out that their soles formed mouths, complaining everytime he use them. The other pair was Wang Reiji's Christmas gift to him, unfortunately, just like his parents, both shoes were destroyed by the fire.

Back then, he was already contented with few pieces of 5 wu jiao. Being poor didn't matter for he was rich in his parents' love.

Feeling heartbroken as her brother, Wang Reiji reached out and wrapped her arms around him.

"Sorry, bro! I'm sorry for being selfish.". Wang Reiji's voice was heavy with guilt as shame also weighed down her shoulders.

"Y-you don't have to say sorry, sis. I don't think you ever meant to be selfish." Wang Yuvin said, shaking his head. "I really don't." His voice strained, yet he managed to keep his words straight and stern.

"I know you are just being an overprotective big sister. But please, save me some face, I'm the man here. Let me handle this sort of things." His voice sweet and gentle as he tightly hugged her.

"From now on, share your burdens with me. Please, depend on me more, sis."

Wang Reiji looked at him with a faint smile, "If you are really that determined, who am I to stop you?" She said with a delicate warmth in her voice as her hands gently patted his head.

"However, I have conditions." She added.

"Hmm... Okay, let me hear them."

"First, this thing of the past should not, at any cost, affect your education. You are about to graduate. Make sure to juggle school and your future missions well. Second, whatever your plans are, you need to consult with me. Let me know everything. You have to report to me even the smallest details. Last, don't ever let your emotions take over. Think rationally at all times."Wang Reiji's voice was gentle but conveyed authority.

"Yes, ma'am!" Wang Yuvin answered as he nodded his head in total agreement.

"Now, let this big sister know what your plans are."
