Chapter 181 - Grandma Knows Dao Of Cooking!

Name:Back For My Daughter Author:HaoShu
Meanwhile, as the girls played the door of the kitchen opened and Yu Lan walked out with a smile.

"Aunt Lan'er, will you also play with Qiqi and Big Sister?"

Little Qiqi called her after seeing her walk to them.

"No, Qiqi, Aunt will not play with you for now, but after dinner, we will all play."

Yu Lan shook her head and patted Little Qiqi's head, but seeing her smile vanish, Yu Lan suggested.

Hearing her, Little Qiqi's face beamed and she nodded energetically.

While Grandma Yan stood up from the couch and glanced at the kitchen.

She understood that Yu Lan was here to call her.

She still felt bad for the things that happened before but then she thought.

'Little Qi, wouldn't hide anything from me unless it is really necessary to hide or there might be some big reason behind it.'

She then glanced at Yu Lan while thinking.

'But what would it be, if he could tell Little Lan but not me?'

"Aunt, Big Brother is..."

She thought and then shook her head and nodded at Yu Lan who was about to speak.

Grandma Yan waved her hand and smiled at her and turned back to the little girls who had their smiles gone after she stood up.

"Grandma, you are also not playing with Qiqi now?"

Little Qiqi pouted her lips and said with puppy eyes.

"Qiqi, wait for Grandma, I will make a nice dish for all of you to eat."

She said as she pecked the two on their head.

"Ok Grandma, Qiqi will play with you and Aunt Lan'er after dinner, till then Qiqi and Big Sister will play with Aunt Lin."

Little Qiqi cheered up and smiled at Yu Lan and Grandma Yan.

Grandma Yan patted her head and turned to walk to the kitchen as the little girls started to play the game with Lin and others.

Yu Lan nodded at Grandma Yan and walked behind her.

But this time Grandma Yan didn't have a smile but a stiff expression as she thought of what could be the reason for Ye Qian to tell it to Yu Lan and others but not her.

"Creak."

Grandma pushed the door and felt the aromatic flavour lingering in the air.

"Hmm."

She nodded at the two ladies sitting on the chair beside Ye Qian as Yuan Meng had her hand placed on his shoulder, it seemed like she was trying to say something or more likely convince him.

She smiled at Grandma Yan, after seeing her walk into the kitchen.

Ning Wei also saw her and stood up but she had a saddened expression.

Grandma Yan walked to Ye Qian and who was looking at her the same way when a small toddler would yearn for his mother's attention.

Grandma Yan's heart started to melt seeing his sad face and ruffles his hair and smiled.

"Little Qi, I don't know what the reason is for you to hide something from me but you were still able to tell it to Little Lan. But since you don't want to tell it, I will also not care much about it since you must have a proper reason for it to hide it from me."

Grandma Yan pecked on his head and continued.

"You are my only child, my son, if you want to say something to me say it directly, don't run around the bush, I will understand there must to be something or you won't do it without giving it a thought."

She wiped the tears which had started to well of in Ye Qian's eyes and scolded.

"See you are such a big man, and a father of two who still cries like a baby, what if someone were to see it, huh?"

She tapped Ye Qian's head a few times and chuckled but if one were to see her eyes, they would notice that her eyes were moist.

"Hmm."

Ye Qian nodded and stood up while looking at Yuan Meng and Ning Wei who were on his right were wiping their eyes.

One didn't need to know that Grandma Yan's words had caused a large effect on everyone in the room.

Meanwhile, Yu Lan also wiped her eyes and walked to them.

"Hehe, Aunt aren't you going to cook, do it quick or the other food might turn cold by the time you make your dish."

Yu Lan tried to ease the atmosphere with a cramped up joke but it still worked.

"Hmm, Little Qi, though I never saw how you made most of the food, but I will give you a chance of taking a peek at my recipe."

Grandma Yan patted his head and walked to the burners.

Everything was already placed beside it, with all the vegetables, oils, seeds and other things like sauces.

Very quickly Grandma Yan started the burner and started to toss the fresh vegetable and other aromatics and spices in the wok.

Though the scene was not as much magical as when Ye Qian used the Spirit Stove Technique, one could say that Grandma Yan was still a master in the Culinary skills and this was even with the fact that she was still in her mid-fifties but still she could toss and turn the heavy wok with great ease, it was like the wok and the spoon was the extension of her hands.

Ye Qian was looking at all this with a dazed expression.

The scene of his mother cooking was not new for him since his childhood but the way he saw how she cooked by now seemed like it was the way of a certain Dao.

Ye Qian didn't know if what he was thinking was true or not, but Grandma Yan's way of cooking was almost similar to that of the Spirit Stove which he learned after practising it for nearly centuries on the Lesser Heaven.

According to him if Grandma Yan were to be given the Spirit Stove's necessary culinary fire she would make food which was even better than him.
