Chapter 149: The last trial!

Yes, he thought of her once again!

He truly wanted to hold her in his embrace.

Elliot got busy scavenging this place. He ripped apart the tiles from the walls and the floor just because they had symbols on them that he considered worthy of attention, and he also picked up the statues, no damn given.

He picked up everything of value, and that was everything, quite literally.

Only a barren land remained!

The barrier spirit who has been watching his marvelous adventure almost mistook him for a locusts swarm!

She had never seen a person not leaving even the tiles behind!

Truly, humans come in many forms and shapes, each distinct from another.

Clap* Clap*

Elliot dusted the sand off his palms and smirked, amazed at the result of his deeds.

Finally, he turned around and headed towards a newer greater adventure!

He entered a forest, and it looked like the ones one would typically see on planet Earth and planet Xavier.

However, the trees looked a bit eerie. Their leaves were purple, and their trunk came in a color of charcoal.

Honestly, with a look, he managed to determine that they were alive but lacked a soul and hence the means to attack.

He ignored them and walked up to the statue that was in the center of a clearing surrounding by eerie-looking trees.

This statue was like any other, and after he put his hand on the circle in the center of its chest, a screen opened up in front of his face.

[Detected: You've not completed the previous trial! However, you possess a total of 720 spirit points! You earned them by killing spirit bats and spirit trees. Adding on the fact that you reached the true world by finding a way out of the outer world, I am obliged to reward you with 10000 spirit points. All in all, I judge you as someone who has passed the second trial.]

He only needed 100 points to complete the trial, but he had made seven times more than that. So the manager of this trial decided to give him a pass and let him join in on this trial.

"If you don't mind, can you tell me where I can use these spirit points?" Elliot asked, knowing full well that the statue came well equipped with intelligence and could respond to a person.

[These points are the currency of our race, and you can use them in the residential area to buy stuff from the treasury and the stores.]

"Residential area?! How do I reach it?"

[You must participate in a grand hunt, and complete all the conditions of this trial, first.]

[Would you like to participate in the hunt?]

Elliot gave it a simple but lazy nod.

Trial this and trial that, he was tired of all this, honestly!

[Welcome to the Trial Of Hunt!]

[Please draw your token]

It brought forward a blue box towards him.

Was he here for an appointment?! What the heck? Is this thing playing with him?

"Umm, why do I need to draw a lot?!" Elliot asked as his eyebrows furrowed.

[It's necessary, and I am not saying it as a joke. It will determine which monsters and participants you need to need to pass this trial and vice versa]

"Alright, I get it."

Elliot finally sank his hand into it and pulled out a medallion with the number 69 on it.

[Unlucky number 69! Sigh, it looks like your luck has run out, challengers.]

A mournful sigh sounded in his mind.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Elliot asked in a curious voice.

[You need to hunt three times the amount of other participants to advance to the residential area. If this isn't unlucky, then what is?]

Hehe, what a cute little statue!

The statue didn't know that daddy here was a badass, unrivaled and unmatched!

Hunting others might be a problem for others, especially if they are all on their own, but for someone like Elliot, who could perform attacks rivaling grandmasters of magic, how hard could it be?

"Enough. Just tell me who and what I need to hunt." Elliot said, demanding that he be told the things he needs to do to complete this trial.

[You must hunt down seven nightmares at the spirit warrior realm, a bloody nightmare, and contestant no. 79, 59, and 67]

The statue gave him a list of beings he needed to hunt to pass the trial, but it explained all of that in words, not even a single picture whatsoever.

"How do I know who is who?" Elliot didn't know what the contestants and monsters looked like, so naturally, he was confused.

[The contestants look no different than you, while the nightmares are a far more terrifying version of the tree in our surroundings.]

The contestants were, of course, the magicians from the other side. While the spirit of the barrier teleported him to a secret zone, the rest of the people directly appeared here. He believed that because it was the only plausible answer. How could mere channel opening stage survive the first and second trials that are harder than playing a game on hell mode?!

Anyway, the rest is all up to him.

He needs to find the ones he needs to hunt and then stomp all over them until their last breath.

What a simple and easy-to-understand trial, he thought as his eyes flickered in murderous and evil glints.

[This trial is as simple as it gets. You get spirit points for killing and defeating others; the more, the merrier. You know why! Except for that, there are many unique items and treasure chests containing spirit points in hidden places. The weapons are made by the craftsman of the spirit world. I believe you have already experienced a deteriorating version of their creation. So you should know what to expect. You can earn great wealth if you manage to find even one of them.]

He sure did!
