Chapter 96: A life worse than death (a)

Elliot's gaze swept past the participants on stage, giving them a warning that they will be eating the last cake of their life if they dared to make even a single move. The other participants didn't dare to make a move as the ball in Elliot's hand could kill any one of them, and they didn't want to attract his ire, after all. Although it was shameful for them to silently follow the command of a magician in the magical realm, their pride, arrogance, and shame meant nothing compared to their life. They weren't willing to act out, just to lose their life as not only were they too young to die, but they believed that they would be able to teach Elliot a lesson after the ball of obliteration leaves his side.

After waning them, Elliot moved his gaze to the target of his craziness.

The targets of his black-gold gaze felt an overbearing pressure crashing down on their backs, and they felt horrified, suppressed, and intimidated to the point where their legs gave up.

Linda and her friends collapsed to the ground, and under his gaze, they stayed quite still, just like sitting ducks, unable to move even the slightest bit.

"I have rooted you guys to the ground. Do you know why?" Elliot suddenly said while looking down at them. He had paid a hefty amount of the essence of life to the godly matrix so that it will realize his thoughts, making it so that they would not be able to move and only feel.

"Please let us go." One of Linda's friends begged for mercy. She wanted to free herself from the attention of the monster in front of her, nothing more, nothing less.

"Ding! Wrong Answer!" Elliot playfully said, acting as if they were not here to participate in a battle royale but a round of quizzes.

"Does anyone among you guys know the answer to my question? If not, then you better stay shut, or else I promise to obliterate you!" Elliot said to Linda and her friends while playing catch with the ball of obliteration.

Linda and her friends kept their heads low in silence, cursing Elliot in their minds, not only because there was no way for them to know the answer this crazy bastard was seeking from them, but they also feared that saying a single word might make them the target of the weapon of destructive might in his hand.

"What a disappointment! All of you are worse than illiterate people who couldn't afford education because they were poor! Your parents and the magician community have undoubtedly wasted their money and the taxpayer money on you. Filthy trash like you guys, who don't even know that the words spoken out of ignorance and the arrogant life-taking action taken out of contempt for the law and the weak comes with a price, deserve to be on the streets while the ones on the streets deserve to be on this stage!" Each word that left his mouth dampened the pride of the listeners, especially Linda, whose eyes lowered till she was blankly staring at the floor.

"Ahem! Boy, stop wasting time." After Elliot scolded them for a good whole minute, instructor Leonardo told him to hurry up with his act. How could Elliot refuse him? Instructor Leonardo was at the peak of the Lord of Magic stage, close to advancing to the Magic King stage! With a single attack, he could annihilate half the city, so how would he be able to survive after ignoring and disrespecting him?

Elliot beamed towards him like an obedient kid, then respectfully said, "I will do as you say, dear instructor!"

He looked back at his toys and revealed the answer to his question, "A person's senses heighten once they are immobilized and unable to move. Each second feels more like a minute to them. The pain and horror also intensify, especially when they know that a painful death is coming and that they wouldn't be able to do anything against it except for experiencing it!"

At the mere mention of death and a painful one on top of that, the bitch that dared to attack him and her friends sweated so much that their backs got drenched in merely a couple of moments.

They begged him to spare them, but he merely smiled at them. They begged the instructors to help them, but they silently continued to stare at them, expressing that they are impartial to the matters of life and death as long as it takes place in the arena.

They will warn Elliot and give him a strike once he takes a life, and they will not allow him to participate in any competition once he breaks three rules. That's all that the rules of the academy allowed them to do.

Realizing that no one is going to help them get out of this situation, Linda and her friends felt devastated.

Right at that moment, Elliot decided to sprinkle a ray of light on top of them.

"Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, who wants to be Linda's scapegoat?" Elliot playfully said with a crazy smile on his face while looking at Linda and her friends and threatening to throw the silver ball of obliteration at them.

The moment her friends heard Elliot's words, they desperately cried out.

"Please don't kill me!"

"I don't want to lose my life because of her."

"Me neither!"

"If you want to punish someone, then please punish the person who dared to mess with you!"

Everyone refused to sacrifice themselves for Linda, including the magician from her family. Linda did not only feel betrayed and humiliated but also devastated.

She smiled at her pathetic self, realizing that, of course, no one would want to give up their precious life for her sake. She was a poisonous snake, and although beautiful, a snake isn't someone a sane person would like to give up their lives for.

"No one? That's great!" Elliot said in a cheerful voice before his eyes narrowed dangerously, and he looked towards Linda before saying, "Looks like you will be dying a dog's death today."
