Chapter 276: Meeting the Queen

With a single push, Elliot opened the gates of the temple and stepped inside. The rests followed behind him.

The temple was pretty vast. It had many pillars with intricate designs on them. In the center was a slightly raised platform. A golden tree was in the center of the said platform with golden edges. Wisps of gold spiraled around the golden tree, making it look holy. Holy light cascaded down its blinding leaves and fell on a woman so young-looking that Elliot could only describe her as a Loli!

The loli, as he would like to call the queen, was dressed in loose white robes. Her white ankles and shoulders seemed exposed for the world to see. Her neck was slender and tall. Her eyes were pretty and big. Her hair looked no different than gold, and they spread outwards, so pong that they covered the entire platform.

"So cute." Lucy, who had always wanted a younger sister to dote on, instantly fell for the queen's charm and blurted out those two words.

The queen's piercing eyes turned to Lucy, making the latter feel inferior. Then, the queen said in a majestic voice, "What did you say? Say it again."

Lucy repeated her words, and a smile appeared on the queen's face.

When he saw that smile, Elliot realized that the queen was a praise-con.

Anyone could please her as long as they praise her enough!

Ah, what a simple person.

"Come and take a seat." She waved her hand, and four pillows appeared in front of the raised platform.

"Okay."

Elliot and the other did as she said and sat down on the pillows.

"Do you know why I have called you guys here? It's so that I can offer you to become a member of the resistance. Now before you start deciding, let me make some things clear. The resistance is a subsidiary of the spirit race. We and many other races sponsor it, so there is no lack of resources whatsoever. It runs on a carefully devised system. You get what you earn. There definitely won't be any corruption in this fact, that I can personally say. After joining it, you guys will get a better understanding of the universe. There's also a high chance that you can help yourself and your race step out of the well of ignorance by joining a galactic organization than not joining it. Now, and have said what I wanted to tell you. The rest is up to you. Decide; I give you 3 minutes."

Only a moment passed after she finished saying her words when Elliot said, "Count me in."

There was no need to ponder over something he had already decided to jump into a while ago. Actually, the resistance had the same goal as him, to end the demonic gods! Elliot was sure that his parents died because of the serpentine devil and that all the trouble they were facing was because of the demonic gods. So, for his parents and the numerous people who had died, he will destroy the demonic gods! Shaking hands with the resistance was the fastest and easiest route. Since such a path was available, he would be an idiot not to take it.

"You're pretty reasonable," said the pretty Loli with the air of a queen surrounding her.

Elliot informally replied, "Since an easy path is in front of me, I would have to be a masochist to ignore it."

"Us too! We have decided to join the resistance." Grace raised her paw, and Little Nightmare raised his root in determination while saying those words. Fight demonic gods and bring pace to many races; sure, they don't mind doing someone so dangerous!

Elliot was their master. Since he was joining the resistance, they too wanted to join it and keep up with him.

"Me too."

Lucy wanted to fight for the sake of her people too, and since she knew the truth about the appearance of spatial rifts caused by many death back on Earth and changed its terrain, she was willing to fight back and stop the demonic gods.

"Alright, all four of you are now informal members of the resistance. You will need to pass a trial to become a formal member." The queen said while looking at the four young ones sitting before her. "Do you see the tree behind me? It's the tree of good fortune. Each of its leaves contains a legacy of a member of my race. The leaves on the lower branch have a low-level legacy. It has three branches in total. The higher the branch, the better the legacy on its leaves. Each legacy is about a different profession. You can learn alchemy, combat, magic scroll formation, combat robot construction, and so on. But know this, if you fail to even reach the basic level of the profession you choose, you will lose the right to become a resistor. So I advise you not to overestimate yourself."

Resistor? Wasn't he already one.

Elliot's eyebrows raised. He had a mark on his back, one that made him a resistor!

"Resistor; is that the title given to each member of the resistance?!" Elliot asked the loli.

"Umm, yes." She replied.

It was at this moment that Elliot realized he was already a member of the resistance!

If so, it didn't matter whether he failed or not, not that he would.

Elliot chatted with Lucy and the others. They decided to learn different professions. Elliot chose spirit alchemy.

Grace wanted to make armors for her master, so she decided to become a spirit forger. She picked a leave hanging down from the second branch.

Little Nightmare grew up by devouring fear directed towards it, and as it wanted to rain down hell's fire on its enemy, it chose to dabble in explosions and learn how to make spirit bombs! So, it chose a golden leaf with a red line on it. It was at the bottom end, meaning it was worse than all the other legacies, but it knew not to overestimate it and picked it up.
