Chapter 235: Mark (b)

Immediately the eyes of the two females turned towards him.

"Really?"

Elliot nodded his head, picked one up from the branch, brought it close to his nostrils, and gave it a deep sniff before saying, "This one is a Red Seed. Although it looks like an apple, don't fall for its calming appearance. It's a treacherous fruit with parasitic properties."

"You mean?"

"Let me finish first," Elliot said. "With an aroma sweet enough to muddle anyone's head, it entices others to eat it. Once inside, it consumes the host's vitality to lay dozens of seeds before wilting. In only twelve days, each of the newborn seeds devours the person whole to grow. As a result, twelve more Red Seeds come into being."

"What a horrifying thing."

Grace was so scared that she covered her gaping mouth and moved away from the handsome spiritual fruit.

"Is it useful?"

Lucy responded to Elliot's words pretty calmly. There wasn't much change in her expression. Back home, she had read about some creatures with parasitic properties and also knew that many more dangerous creatures existed on planet Xavier.

Actually, there were four forbidden zones, places even magic emperors failed to explore properly. They were so dangerous that even an army of strong magicians suffered significant losses, losing nine-tenths of their total numbers in mere days. And in the end, the surviving soldiers had to tuck their pride between their legs and scram back to their base. After the significant losses of many families, no magician families dared to explore it.

Those who try to explore it go all alone, and they are all either magic kings or magic emperors. From them, humanity found out that great dangers lie in the four forbidden zones. And one of the zones houses a parasite that had enslaved all the creatures, forcing them to serve it!

Lucy was terrified when she heard about it, not only because she was a child at that time but also because the parasite had an army of ten million beasts under it that could easily lay waste to the magician community. However, her sister told her that they didn't need to worry about it as the parasite couldn't leave the forbidden zone, that the four emperors had taken precautions and sealed it in its place, a seal which would last another hundred years. Her words instantly pacified Lucy.

Back to the present, Elliot carefully stored the four fruit in his subspace

Only after storing all of them did he say the following words with a mysterious smile, "It's one of the materials needed to engrave a special type of mark on living beings."

Grace was curious, so was Lucy.

"What kind of mark?"

"Hmm, how should I explain it?" Elliot rubbed his chin and explained, "The mark will allow us to communicate with the elements, and we will be able to control and produce wind, fire, water, and so on without the need of supernatural cells.

"The mark will open up a new path of magic!"

Elliot was excited. He could accomplish unbelievable feats if he manages to create the mark.

"So it's something like a spirit mark." Grace's eyes brightened in realization.

Elliot shook his head, "The difference is too significant. Spirit beasts are born with the mark, or they absorb spiritual energy for hundreds of years to gain one or more. In contrast, we can artificially create this mark and engrave it onto the skin of others, letting them gain instant access to magic."

When he said it like that, the two girls finally understood the true worth of the mark.

Lucy said, "It's something revolutionary! With the help of the mark, won't we be able to help all the Hollows and the ordinary humans? They will become able to protect themselves from danger, and then magicians would also stop mistreating them."

Lucy's were too kind. Most Magicians treat ordinaries as if they are ants. At the same time, hollows are nothing more than slaves to them. It has been over ninety years since the birth of magicians. They had treated others with malice and helmed humanity in an overbearing manner. They had only ever acted as dictators. Elliot knew that the local magician association of many cities had abused their power to suppress the voices of the people. They never listen to the complaints of ordinaries and hollows. They not only intercede people who try to head to the headquarters to protest but also abduct, illegally detain and kill people who are on their list and under their surveillance. Meanwhile, the headquarters of the magician association had never tried to help the local people of many cities either.

The ordinaries and hollows had a tremendous amount of rage suppressed inside of them. If power was suddenly out to them, it might lead to an internal breakdown. They would start an all-out war and hunt down magicians. Elliot didn't want to happen, at least not now, as there were many external enemies, one of them being the serpentine devil and its minions. Only after annihilating them would it make sense to help the weak people. Of course, Elliot wasn't the kind to give out for free, and he was planning to use marks to gain the highest amount of benefits.

"That's only possible if we can safely mass-produce these marks. We only have one of the materials to create it and still need four more. Who knows where and when we will find them." Elliot said, shutting down all the revolutionary thoughts going on in Lucy's cute little head.

Although Elliot said that, there was no doubt that he would try to do anything to mass-produce marks. He was a person like that. He had gained a material that would help him mass-produce an army and achieve people loyal to him, so how could he give up on that without giving it all? Of course, neither Lucy nor Grace noticed the evil glint flashing in his eyes.
