Chapter 347 - Day MCCCLXXI, Part I

After a quick breakfast, I joined my friends at the city center. I had a moment when I just wanted to tell them to take Ki'rai with them, so I will be able to finally conquer the giants' territory, but I ended up saying just the regular greetings.

- Peter. I want to go hunt with the others today - suddenly she said to me.

- She wants some class points - explained Will. - And we agreed to help her get something.

I nodded.

- By the way, there is also a collection going on - said Hailwic. - Marcella build a hospital building not too long ago, but she needs equipment.

- I'm not exactly up to speed with everything that is going on in the city, so thanks for telling me - I replied to her words. - But why do we need a hospital? People can just use the device.

- Not everybody has crazy numbers on their accounts - said Nil. - Some people can't just heal themselves like that. I think that idea of gathering people who have healing abilities or medical knowledge in one place is great. Even Will agreed to help a few hours a week.

- You are making me blush - Will picked up immediately, covering his cheeks.

- Hey, Peter! - somebody yelled at me, so I turned around.

It was Daniel, jogging towards us.

- I... I finally caught you. Can we talk on the side? - He said after finally stopping.

- Ok...

I had no idea what all of that was about, so I just followed the guy, escorted by the curious looks of my friends.

- I have to say this. It's almost impossible to catch you, Peter. I had to reschedule my whole life around you...

- What is this about?

- It's buy-in from Marcella.

- Buy-in? - I was very confused by his words.

- She wants to stay on your good side, so I'm bringing you some juicy news.

- Ok. Hit me.

He smiled at first definitely considering literally taking what I said.

- Maia is hunting with a new group of friends, and I have to say, they are doing great. We will be keeping an eye on her for you.

- Why would I care? She got defeated, and finally moved on. I'm not holding a grudge. Blue is.

- Oh, I thought you hated her.

- You are wasting my time, man...

I left him after those words and went to reunite with my friends.

- What was that about? - asked Will.

- What are you, my Mother?

- As a matter of fact I...

- Oh shut up Will - said Hailwic. - This joke is now old and borking. You two should find something else.

Boris chuckled, others smiled a little, but nobody said a thing. I finally took them all to the canyon. Then I took myself to the giants' territory and started the hunt.

After few hours I arrived at the stairs and started my climb, just to stop it sometime later to get my friends to another spot. I dropped the anchor to continue where I left, and I did just that after a quick lift.

I had to do that again sometime later before I managed to finally arrive at my destination. Those freaking stairs were going on almost to the top of the mountain.

I ended up in something I can only describe as a stone terrace. Giant pillars were supporting the rest of the freaking mountain above my head, and a big number of giant windows, one next to another, were letting in almost all of the daylight from outside.

There were smaller tables all around, with stone couches and storm giants laying on those.

I was blasted with a bolt of lightning almost as soon as I got there. Fortunately for me, my reflexes now were fast enough to barely avoid the attack with 'Shadow walk'. Although from a distance it had to look like a hit.

I immediately pulled out my weapon from the vault and charged at first, repositioning rapidly to avoid the electricity raining at me. I quickly got to my first target, and with one swing cut his legs off slightly above the ankles, then appeared behind him, to finish the job by cutting his head off.

Although it didn't work as I wanted, it still was enough to kill. I shadow walked again to not lose my tempo and kept attacking, eventually dealing with all of the enemies. Then I gathered the crystals using 'Telekinesis' and packed them all in my brand new vault.

After a quick search, I found a staircase starting outside the terrace, and spiraling upwards to the top of the mountain. It was freaking cold out there with lots of snow gathered on the steps and the slopes.

I reached the top pretty quickly. I ended up on a flat stone surface decorated with big statues of giants. More or less in the middle was my enemy. Not as tall as other giants, but definitely big. With a chiseled chin, and perfect black hair, wearing white cloth wrapped around him nicely, and held together by a brooch on his shoulder.

He was sitting on a familiar stone throne, with a golden hammer, decorated by intricate ornaments all around it, resting next to him. His eyes were tracking all my moves while I was getting closer.

I was kinda on the clock since I had to go and pick up my friends, but I also couldn't just drop this fight and go. Why? Well, it was simply too exciting to just leave.

When I got close enough he stood up, and calmly grabbed the hammer, and turned to face me. There was a confident smirk on his face. I have to admit, that damn monster, although he looked very human, was very handsome.

I could see a bunch of fangirls ogling over that giant sometime in the future. It brought an image of him posing in a centerfold in some magazine. This made me laugh, as I made few final steps towards my enemy.

The battle started immediately after.
