Chapter 171 - Day DXIV, Part V

I looked around. It was a complete mess. Few dead beasts laying on the cobblestone, but not as many as I would expect. A couple still burning corpses. People tried to save themselves, using the device, but it became overcrowded, and those who couldn't get there in time, just bleed out. I saw Will, trying to save as many as possible, but his healing powers were not nearly enough.

- You need to get Williams, Peter - said Blue. - He is the one responsible for this.

- Shut up - was my response.

After those words, I looked at Hatta and said:

- Make sure Nadia is safe. I'll bring as many as possible, and kill Williams. Then we will deal with... - I pointed at Blue - him.

Hatta nodded. I went running, looking for targets. There was nobody in the immediate vicinity, so I jumped up, on the closes, not swallowed by flames, building to get a better view, but it was not enough, so I quickly got to the highest one around.

In the light of the burning city, I saw many werewolves dispersed, trying to hide in ruins, but there was one group, running fast. Clearly heading somewhere. I went after them.

With shadow walk, I was getting from roof to roof. I was way faster than them, and also pretty damn silent. With the darkness growing stronger the further I got, they probably couldn't even see me, too focused on making the distance.

When I got closer I noticed that Williams was among them. He was noticeably bigger. He wasn't wounded, but definitely tired, and weakened from blood loss.

A few moments later I appeared in front of them, forcing the whole group to stop. They looked at their leader, expecting him to tell them what to do. He had to know there is no escape from me. I caught to them too quickly for him to not realize that simple fact.

Stephen growled at me, and the rest understood clearly what he meant by that. They also growled and leaped at me as a group. I dodged with the help of a shadow walk and created a pudao for myself to fight.

Then, before they ever realized it, I stepped among their ranks and cut down two. Their heads didn't even reach the ground, as others started swinging their claws at me. I cut those off, moving at my top speed. It was just a blur, and fountains of blood busted out of their opened veins. I repositioned again, to finish the job.

Now it was just me and him.

I have to give it to Williams. Even knowing he had no chances, he didn't try to run or beg. I wasn't even sure if he could speak in the werewolf form, but he didn't kneel, and that was certainly something he could do.

Instead, he attacked. He was fast, I have to give it to him. Probably faster than my not-reinforced self, but with Ki, and Shadow fusion the situation was very different. I dodged his claws with ease.

I have to say I respected the man, so I wasn't going to play games with him, or humiliate him. He maybe was a traitor, but in my memories, he always took good care of his men. I kicked him, to create a wider opening, repositioned, and got him from a blind spot. One cut was enough for the blade made of void essence, to cut through his flesh.

The head rolled on the ground, just like the other ones did. I picked it up and started slowly walking back to the city center.

I took my time. On the way, I realized that my dream came to reality. The prophecy was fulfilled. I wondered if maybe from the very beginning I knew it had to end like his.

Eventually, I reached the city center. Dead bodies piled up. Wuxia soldiers were relentlessly moving the corpses, extinguishing the flames, or at least trying their best so the fire wouldn't spread.

Wounded cried in pain, as few tried their best to help them. The device was occupied. Blue was buying cloth for bandages, and alcohol to clean the wounds. My friends, except Hatta, were gone, probably pursuing the beasts.

He tried his best at organizing people. Giving orders left and right. Making others cooperate. I came to him and threw the head under his feet.

- I got him.

- We should have stepped in sooner - he said.

- No. It was not our business at the beginning. Unfortunately, it quickly became, but that's a different story.

He sighed and shook his head.

- Go, look for the rest. I'll handle things in here.

I nodded in silence and went on, hunting, this time, though, for people. It took the whole night. We searched through the very single building in the vicinity. Some of them were hiding there, in darkness. Some transformed back and tried to crawl inside some holes, thinking we won't get them. We did.

There was no mercy. Those who tried to fight got killed. Those who begged for mercy, or simply cooperated, were spared and dragged to the city canter. Then put in chains, to go through the trial. That was only fair, as some of them were on the side that didn't want to fight, and were forced to defend themselves.

There were many people opposing this. Demanding we kill them all, but Hatta disagreed. Me too. I wanted to kill Blue though, but those few of his men, that managed to survive, stood firmly behind the man, even after all that happened.

Maybe they really believed in him, or maybe they were just brainwashed. In the end, it was decided, that his fate will be put to vote. Not for people though, as they would kill all of the prisoners. The members of the council were to decide.

Just before the morning. We finally managed to put everything in order. The wounded got help. The dead were piled up in one place, and flames got extinguished.

The long day came to an end with 5 513 510 points remaining on my account.
