Chapter 22 She’s Gone

“President Fu, you are drunk.” The servant rushed in and helped Fu Beiting up.

Fu Beiting opened his eyes in discomfort, but it was not Qin Xiangwan who met his eyes.

He pushed the servant away harshly.

Why didn’t Qin Xiangwan come?

Suddenly, a bodyguard rushed in. He was covered with sweat and looked flustered.

“President Fu, Madam… Madam had an accident in the hospital and couldn’t be saved in time. She passed away.”

Fu Beiting stood stiffly, as if his head had been hit by a heavy hammer.

Buzz!

He staggered and fell forward unsteadily.

“President Fu, be careful.” The old butler beside him quickly supported him, his eyes filled with worry.

“No way… How could she have died?” Fu Beiting muttered in disbelief.

It was as if his heart had exploded, and an excruciating pain instantly spread through his entire body.

All of a sudden, he raised his head, his bloodshot eyes terrifying. “She must be lying to me! This cunning woman, Qin Xiangwan, would never die just like that.”

There were people standing all around him, but everyone kept their heads low, not daring to refute the furious President Fu.

President Fu was on the verge of going crazy. He no longer had his usual calm demeanor.

“I want to go… That’s right, I want to go to the hospital. She must be hiding somewhere.” Fu Beiting rushed out of the door, panting. “Qin Xiangwan, we’re not done yet!”

He would never believe the news of her death.

The sky was gloomy and it rained nonstop, adding a layer of coolness to the world.

Fu Beiting stood in the empty ward and stared at the empty bed in front of him.

She wasn’t here…

“President Fu, Madam… she had passed a long time ago,” Auntie Zhang rubbed her red eyes and saiding, choking.

When Fu Beiting slammed open the door of the ward and rushed in like a crazed lion, she had been scared badly.

Suddenly, Fu Beiting grabbed Auntie Zhang’s arm and shouted angrily, “Tell me, where is she hiding? Did she sneak out of the hospital like last time?”

He gripped Auntie Zhang’s arm so tightly that it hurt. She said frantically, “President Fu, Madam has already passed away!”

Several bodyguards rushed up to stop the crazy Fu Beiting.

“President Fu, please calm down.”

Fu Beiting’s chest heaved violently and his eyes were frighteningly red.

Last night, she was still lying on this bed. Her body was so frail it looked like it would collapse if the wind blew on it. He had sat beside the bed and watched over Qin Xiangwan. His chest felt a stabbing pain.

He didn’t understand this feeling.

But before he could even react, she was gone.

“Qin Xiangwan, are you doing this on purpose?” Fu Beiting gritted his teeth. “You tried so hard to make me fall in love with you just to dump me without any hesitation in the end. You’re just trying to torture me!!”

Su Xinyue had just opened the door of the ward before she heard these words. Her beautiful face instantly turned pale as a sheet.

Her heart contracted and fear flashed across her eyes.

Fu Beiting… fell for Qin Xiangwan?

Her eyes flickered and she felt a surge of unease she’d never felt before. Finally, her gaze landed on the empty hospital bed and she became certain.

Fortunately, Qin Xiangwan was already dead.

No matter what Fu Beiting was thinking, it was irreversible.

Su Xinyue heaved a sigh of relief and regained her composure. She walked gently towards Fu Beiting and placed her hand on his shoulder. “Beiting, Xiangwan passed away this morning.”

Fu Beiting turned around and looked at her.

Su Xinyue’s heart skipped a beat. She had never seen such a look in Fu Beiting’s eyes before. His eyes were bloodshot but he looked lost, as if he had lost the most important thing.

“Xinyue, you were the last one to accompany Xiangwan? How did she… how did she leave?”

He looked at her sullenly, and his eyes seemed to see right through her.
