Chapter 220: Deja vu

Chapter 220: Deja vu

As Kang Shuchun waits for Lu Chen's verdict.

"Shuchun, look up at me." Kang Shuchun slowly looks up at Lu Chen, ready to take her punishment. However, it never came. Instead, she felt warmth surrounding her.

Never did she expect Lu Chen to hug her so suddenly!

Patting her head, "Shuchun, it isn't your fault. So don't feel so guilty about it." Lu Chen's consoling just had the opposite effect tho.

"It is my fault! I'm a failure as a bodyguard! I should die!" Before Kang Shuchun could continue to berate herself, Lu Chen hugs her even tighter, shutting her up.

"Don't ever say that! You're the best bodyguard I will have! And I don't want you to die!" The moment Kang Shuchun said dying, it hit a nerve.

His emotion became disarray. As he held onto Kang Shuchun, past memories kept welling up inside.

It felt like the exact same scene of what he had to do before in the cold dead rain. But this time, Kang Shuchun was alive and well, not lifeless and frail.

"You did nothing wrong! Elder Wu already told me everything that happened." Elder Wu told him everything, emphasizing the part where Kang Shuchun tries to jump into the fray without any hesitation.

That alone already made Lu Chen happy.

"..." 'Master is a tattle tail!'

"Knowing that you tried your best to come to save me is more than enough!" Lu Chen continues as he strokes her head.

"But But." "No buts!" Lu Chen pulls Kang Shuchun to his chest as he comforts her even more,

"You're somebody important to me. And just the thought of you getting hurt breaks my heart. So don't ever say you want to die."

Out of reflex, Lu Chen kisses Kang Shuchun's cheeks. And the moment he did that, Kang Shuchun's face lit up like a firecracker.

"Do you like it?" Seeing her face become so red, Lu Chen smiles mischievously.

"Hmmm, it seems that you don't like it. I'll stop now." The moment Lu Chen pulls back, Kang Shuchun quickly moves towards him.

"No! No! No! I like it! I like it!" How could she not like hugs from Lu Chen?!

'Take that, you snot-nosed brat! I'm one step ahead of you now!' Remembering how haughty Ye Meixiu was during the last time they met, she wanted to smack that smirk off her face.

But with Lu Chen kissing her cheek, she didn't need to do anything now! She's on cloud nine!

Kang Shuchun jumps back into his embrace like a cute little bunny.

Laughing at how cute she looks, Lu Chen told her, "Shuchun, promise me that you won't ever talk about dying again."

"Ok." Kang Shuchun automatically replied. Being hugged by Lu Chen made her mind turn into mush. She couldn't think about anything.

The two kept being in that position until it was the end of visiting hours.

...

"Congratulations on your full recovery, young master." Elder Wu says. It has been a whole week and a half since Lu Chen's been hospitalized. And today was the day is his discharged.

Packing up his stuff, Lu Chen sighs, "Elder Wu, I really didn't have to stay here for so long." On the fifth day being here, Lu Chen was already recovered to full strength.

If it weren't for Zhang Wenling's insistence on staying there a couple of more days, Lu Chen would have been long gone.

"But young master, it's better to be safe than sorry. With how much blood you lose, it would have caused problems." Elder Wu didn't say anything else as he took the bags from Lu Chen's hands and started walking out.

As the two of them walked out of the room, a nurse spots them, "Oh, young master Lu, are you being discharged today?"

"Yes." For the past few days, Lu Chen would interact with the nurses as they did daily checkups on him. Naturally, some of them got infatuated with him.

When the nurse heard this, she asked, "When will you come back?"

Lu Chen looks at her strangely. 'Why would I come back here?' The only time he would come back here is when he breaks his head or something.

"I guess not for a while." He didn't know when another attack on him would occur, so at least he should have some preparation.

"Then please take this with you." Handing him a white piece of paper, the nurse blushes.
